PART 2 (SEE PART I UNDER REVIEWS FOR BIG-O ON JUAN TABO IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM) It is never adviseable to take one's car to the Big-O store on Menaul, unless they feel like having greedy, stupid, under-educated service advisors/mechanics destroy the car! A few days after receiving the rude and threatening phone call from Mark/"Mr. Cigarettes and Whiskey" at the Juan Tabo store, I called the Menaul store to see if they could do the A/C job and use the estimate from the Menaul store since they evaluated my car. I spoke to a service advisor named Chris. He was very nice on the phone. He said he would honor the A/C estimate from Mr. Cigarettes and Whiskey's Juan Tabo store. Chris scheduled the appointment for me the next day, and said he would be there to help me. Guess what? Chris called in sick the next day. I had made up my mind years of guessing how to have the work done, and was resolute the work be done that day!!! Very bad idea. The new service advisor, Hunter, was not privy to the arrangement I had with Chris. Hunter was a total scheister. Hunter said they had to do their own inspection - would not allow the one from Mr. Cigarrettes and Whiskey's store on Juan Tabo. (**To do an A/C job correctly, the the Condensor, Dryer, Compressor, etc., vacuum and recharge must be done at the same time). Hunter refused to allow the A/C kit that Chris and I agreed Big-O would use for my car. Hunter would not allow the replacement of the Condensor and Dryer: obviously because he thought I would ask to have them replaced after the their work was done, and he was going to charge $870.00!!! Hunter wanted to discuss the check engine light. I told him all about the P-0420 Catalytic Converter code and testing since January to make sure it wasn't something else. Hunter ignored the stack of hard copies I had in my hand from O'Reilly's of check engine scans; stated a bold-faced lie that it was NEVER a check engine light for the Catalytic Converter; that the Check E gine Light was for an Oil Pressure Sensor. I hsd never heard of that part, and there was never a problem with anything like that brought to my attention. Hunter swore if I replace the Oil Pressure Sensor that the check engine light would extinguish itself. Hunter was very sneaky; there was no discussion about price; Hunter got my signature to start work on the A/C Compressor. I told Hunter several times I was only interested in doing the work on the A/C that day. When I showed interest and began asking questions, Hunter had already typed $758.00 on the signed work order on the computer, and said, "It will be $758.00" and walked away as though it was all signed and done - but it was not: excuse me, we ere gettimg ready to talk prices!!! Twenty minutes later I told Hunter "Forget the Oil Pressure Sensor job because I have never had a check engine light for an Oil Pressure Sensor, and just do the A/C, please." Hunter said, "NO. I will not stop that job." Hunter returned the car later in the day. I backed the car out of the parking space, put the car in forward and the check engine came on again!!! I told Hunter ASAP. He said come back in four days on Thursday, and I will refund your money. Hunter was not there Thursday or Friday. Saturday, he changed his tune and said he was only interested in doing work pertaining to the work he did to replace the Oil Pressure Sensor - I told him I didn't want him to do so many times. By doing that "job," Hunter created new problems with the car that were never there before - IN ADDITION TO CRACKING A FAIRLY NRW RADIATOR BECAUSE HUNTER DID NOT ADVISE REPLACING THE WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, GASKET, APPLICABLE HOSES BEFORE THE A/C JOB WAS DONE, AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TO THE RADIATOR AND TO THE CAR WHEN TRYING TO USE THE A/C THAT WASNT DONE RIGHT? I asked to use the A/C kit promised by Chris. Hunter made sure he was very parental amd said "NO," but wrote on the receiot an A/C kit was used. Did his mechanic replace every gasket and seal that was in the kit just as Chris had promised? The A/C job was not done right. I complained. The clowns at the Big-O store on Menaul made me sign a waiver that they are not responsible for what they did to foul up my car; and, will not warranty the parts, workmanship. Jerome, their Manager, doesn't seem to understand the difference between terrible, incompetent work done on Jerome's watch that Jerome should be accountable for as the store Manager, VERSES someone in Jerome's personal life that has nothing to do with crappy quality of services and abusive treatment given to customers breaking their cars under Jerome's watchful eye- JEROME!!!! read more

Normally I have great service here, but I guess things change. I made an appointment for a simple oil change and tire rotation for early afternoon mid-week, so not a busy time. The car sat for an hour, unmoved. When I asked about it, they moved it into the garage. More than another hour later (now nearly 2 1/2 hours) I asked about it again. When I asked to just take the car, they told me, "all that's left is to add the oil!" Then apologized, claiming to be "short staffed". While I waited, three employees joked around, purchased and ate hot jerky, and used a lot of profanity behind the front counter. I'm not a prude, but this crossed the line of appropriate customer service. In addition, the price was much higher than just six months ago. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I brought my car in to have my tire checked because I was consistently experiencing low tire pressure. The receptionist informed me that there were two "slashes" in the tire that couldn't be repaired and quoted me over $1,000 for a full set of new tires. Seeking a second opinion, I took my car to Costco, where I found a set of four tires for $800. They examined my tire and explained that the "slashes" were purely cosmetic and not the cause of my air loss. It turned out that there were actually two screws embedded in my tire. In the end, the repair cost me only $20 instead of the $1,000+ I had been quoted. I would recommend avoiding this place. read more

I had my car serviced by another shop who said I didn't have leaks from my valve covers. He c did a total inspection of my car and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. The car now runs great and I was charged $150. What a difference from the $1400 that Big O wanted to charge. I'm glad I didn't get suckered by the sales pitch!!!!!​ read more

While in Alb on a business trip, my tire went flat. I was in a business car with no jack, so I called Big O and they ensured me they would take care of the tire quickly. They even made sure I made it to the shop safely. They were closing, but the whole team stayed late to make sure I could get back on the road. 15 minutes later, the tire was fixed and I was out the door! Have never been to this big o, but they are not good when to customer service. Walk in and the guy behind the Cointreau acts like it is a problem to get my flat fixed. On the west side service is a lot better. Yeah service here is not great I do think the tire price is comparable to others but that is big o in general. Stay away from this location if you can. Big O Tires in Uptown were amazing, responsive, and flexible. I had just gotten back from a couple days trip towing my RV with my F250 and less than 48 hours until my next one, when I discovered a screw embedded in one of my tires. Big O took my tire in first thing on a Sat morning while I ran errands, and then got everything put back together with plenty of time to spare for my next trip. All of this free of charge. One of the technicians cut the tube to my windshield wipers. This also happened at FireStone many years ago. Only Firestone didn't mess up the oil change. I was running my car without oil after an oil change at Big O. I thought the oil change was a mistake, but clearly, the cut in my windshield wiper shows that it was not a mistake, but intentional. I am so disappointed that women must know their mechanics and cannot safely go to these big box stores. read more

My partner and I had previously had a good experience here, which is why we have bought 2 tires here over the past 18 months, rather than Costco. Anyhow, I dropped by to get air and a rotation; and the man tried to convince me I needed 4 new tires. Even though the newest 2 tires were bought in 2019 FROM THEM! Then he tried to convince me by pointing out the year on the tire (which were 2018)?!? After he looked up my account and after calling my partner (who literally can build a car, so he isn't a dummy), the dude backed off, but still tried a "mileage" approach as to why I needed new tires (even though I literally haven't driven since COVID). So moral is...there is a bad apple in the bunch here, especially if they think you are easy prey! Really bummed! BEWARE! read more

Nice people up front and great customer service but... they damaged my vehicle while repairing another part, they 'had trouble' fixing my car and needed to get someone else to help, never test drove to verify that they actually fixed the issue, and after weeks of dealing with this shop- I gave up and went somewhere else. The time they quote is never correct and it just seems like they are trying to do too much and don't have the personnel to fill the orders. I'll give them 2 stars for at least trying and for Jose and Oscar up front who handle a lot of customers, but I wouldn't go here unless you just need tires mounted and balanced. After a long day at work, walking out to a nearly flat tire was not the best feeling. It was nearly 6pm & most tire shops were closing soon. I took a chance & drove to big O tires. I ran in & let them know about my tire & they were SO nice! They asked for my keys right away & said they would take care of it. I was so relieved. The waiting area was very comfortable. I noticed their customer service was excellent with every customer that came in. Even the gentleman who was not needing a vehicle services was treated with respect & great service. They fixed my tire & handed back my keys. I was willing to pay anything at that point & was absolutely floored when they told me it was on the house. I could've cried. The gentleman told me to just remember them next time I need something. This was just excellent service all around & I definitely will not be going anywhere else. Stay FAR away from Big O in general, but especially this location. I took my truck in for an alignment and they completely ruined my alignment along with some of my steering components. The technician that did the "alignment" was also smoking while in my vehicle. The employees at this location are very rude and far from professional. The district manager ended up giving me my money back, and apologized for the employee smoking in the vehicle. Which I do respect. Overall would never recommend Big O to anyone. read more
