Great customer service. They do great work family-owned business. I love everything they do for my vehicles. They put a new clutch in my vehicle last August. It was under a one-year warranty parts and labor and for some reason the clutch was acting up so I took it to them and they told me it was a bearing that was rubbing. It was just a bad part so they replaced it. And got made back on the road. with no cost to me cuz it was under warranty. That is a great business. This was my second time coming here. Last time was for an air filter. They didn't take too long. I obviously noticed the baby gate and kid in the waiting area but as long as they took care of my car I didn't mind This visit was horrendous 1. When I showed up the lady in the office had a baby gate up with a baby on the patio blocking entry into the office. I was confused that I couldn't enter but didn't say anything but she says " don't you have a ride to leave and come back?" And looked at me oddly as if this is a normal option for everyone. Then she tells me it was going to be a 90 minute wait, for an oil change that I scheduled in advance. So I sat out on the patio for 90 minutes 2. I was charged $126.00 for the oil change. When I asked her about the price she said oil prices have gone up. Here's the thing, the bill was itemized. Synthetic oil was used (that they didn't ask me if I wanted) and the cost for that was about 56 dollars. Not expensive because no oil change needed for 7000 miles. Labor was 60 dollars. For an oil change? I have had this 2016 Toyota Corolla since 2017 and have never been charged 60 dollars for oil change labor. I didn't make a fuss at all. They got me once. Shame on them. The tech, Jason, who worked on my car came across as a courteous good mechanic however the person doing the paperwork at the office turned out to be doing too much nickle-and-dimming...charged for the $60 diagnostics fee even though I told them the causes of car problems when I brought the car there to be serviced. After $700 plus repair jobs and 3-4 hour wait, I did not really go over the invoice carefully because I was in a hurry to get out and back to work. A few days later, found some time to file the invoice paperwork and noticed that she billed me for the diagnostic. While talking to her on the phone about this extra charge, she said that she would not mind the public to know that this particular shop/she charges for the diagnostic even when the repair get done right there and then. Grant that some auto shops do and some don't and there are many that do not out there (or ask first before doing anything). At least she Clearly stated that she want the Public to know that she charges for the diagnostic no matter what...here it is so that the next customer dose not get caught off guard. Since spending time to write the review of this shop here...another thing in retrospect coming across as not too professorial behavior is...initially she told me she was going to replace the whole wheel HUB/Bearing assembly together to eliminate any possible worn out hub issue. However, found out after the work was done that only the wheel bearing got replaced. Even thought I was not charged for the whole HUB/Bearing assembly, just bearing/job... It would have been a very professional thing to notify customer (who was physically there waiting nearby!) of any changing fact as a common courtesy then just go and do whatever convenient was for her. And lastly as other reviewers already mentioned somewhere on other web sites too...you go into the shop (first expect rather uncommon office setup/environment), they just look at you.. there is no welcoming hi or hello...you the customer has to initiated the conversation or wait awkwardly until they do. Just giving you a warning in case you want to use this Master's touch shop...hope it is changing. read more

They were very busy on Sunday but, 2 hours later I was on the road again. Unfortunately ABQ doesn't have many options for Volvo repairs so I chose this shop over the Volvo dealership. I dealt with this place for over 3yrs...I was hoping they were doing a good job but I'm not a mechanic so I don't really know....well I moved back to L.A. this spring and went back to my old mechanic of over 10yrs...my mechanic started his auto shop out of a garage by himself...he's not a Volvo specialist....well during the 3yrs I was living in Albuquerque I had a lot of big work done on my volvo by "master's touch", my check engine light never turned off, they didn't seem very concerned about it, I asked for it to be looked at and repaired and they just kept telling me there was nothing wrong with my car...guess what?!! I just took my volvo to my mechanic here in L.A. and he fixed the issue in 20mins...no more check engine light & I can smog my car now with no issues....I had expensive sensors changed in Albuquerque because "master's touch" couldn't figure out why my check engine light was on....now I feel like they just made me do repairs and pay for very expensive labor that was not necessary...I'm beyond pissed...don't take your car here...go anywhere else but not here read more

I'm a little late posting this but here I go. First of all I met Thomas (owner) through some of the guys @ Dukecitybrickclub. I love our (now) 2 Volvo's. A couple of years ago I had issues with my volvo 02 v70 and had it towed to Masters Touch. $80 later and a few hours I was back on the road, thanks to the expertise and fairness of Master mechanic Thomas. Needing another car, husband's car was a money pit, I was recommended to see Thomas for a fair priced used car. I actually ended up purchasing his car he had been driving. He serviced it and made sure it was a ok! Only been driving it about 50 miles a week but she purrs. Got an issue with front light but plan on visiting soon and I'm sure it's just a loose wire or something so I'm not concerned in the least. First the good. Nice people, they seem very competent and they do not try to gouge you out of your money, in fact, just the opposite. They try to find the least expensive way to fix your vehicle but not in that cheap products way, from what I can tell. Now the bad, which has nothing to do with their service. It's the messiest, grossest, unkept front/reception area I have ever seen. Dear Master's Touch, the reason I'm giving you 4 stars is because your office looks like it's in the early stages of being an episode of "Hoarders". I held out on writing a review here for quite some time because I wanted to be sure that the issue these folks had addressed wouldn't return. Months later, I am confident it will not. I had to come in following a failed emissions test and I was bracing for some severe sticker shock as is custom at most mechanic places. The wife from this husband-and-wife operation was friendly and polite and explained the policy of charging $50 for an assessment that eventually gets rolled into the final cost if the customer chooses to have them fix their vehicle. Fair enough. I left my car with them while I headed out of town on business with the assurance it would be ready to go upon my return. This was exactly the case. I returned. They explained the repairs and the different charges---all that came out to a reasonable $300 or so---and even tacked on a ten percent discount for me as a CNM employee. Much appreciated. They also assured me that the car's repairs and parts were under a one-year warranty and that I could come back in for any issues. I left feeling good about their work, their prices and the new state of my car. I still feel that way. Thus, without hesitation, I referred some friends having car issues related to last week's heavy rain to visit them and they too felt good about The Master's Touch. read more

Randy and his group are awesome. I had a situation with my torque convertor and so I blindly took it to dealer after doing research on Jeep forums and various web pages. The dealer didn't give many options or explanation of the $3100-$4600 estimate. I called Randy and he explained a couple of economical options. Very very good experience!! It was already in August that I had my V70 Volvo 1998 first checked at another garage and they told me that my alternator had to be replaced and due to a short the alarm then had to be reset by a Volvo dealer. They presented me with a jaw-dropping estimate of $1300 !!! Well, I was soooooo glad that I decided to get a second opinion at The Master Touch and they did a great job. Thomas Chung is very thoughtful and thorough and went out of his way to provide a professional and fair solution. Everything was very carefully tested and the result was that the alternator is just fine and what was really needed was a new battery. Couldn't be happier with my repairs!!!! I'm from out of town and my truck started overheating around 2 pm on a Friday. I thought I might be without wheels till beginning of the following week. There are several reviews on google maps of this place, but I just wanted to post something for the Yelp folks. This is a family-run business, with knowledgeable, skilled staff. I had an issue with inappropriate work done to my timing belt at a different mechanic, which caused my engine to make intermittent sqeaking noises only when cold, etc...making diagnosis somewhat challenging. The folks at Master's Touch took the time to isolate the problem and corrected the problem without issue. Nina and Thomas did everything they could to help me out. Ended up with a cracked engine block. They went out of their way to find out that it was covered by extended warranty, and referred me to a nearby Honda dealership. Only charged me for a sensor replacement. Great experience we had with Master's Touch when Nina and Thomas fix our holiday cross country travel in a fast and considerate manner. As we took our 01 volvo s40 in a cross country driving from the Alabama to California. The car started to emit a rubber burning smell under the hood after we got into Oklahoma, and the smell got stronger while we reached a higher speed limit of 75 mph on I-40 within west Texas and New Mexico. Ever since the smell, we started to check the oil level (since the rubber smell could be from oil burning) and noticed an oil level going down about 1 qt after nearly a thousand miles. Since we still got half of the trip ahead, we decide to make a stop at Albuquerque and get the car checked. We chose Master's Touch just as a random pick from a yelp search then later we found while they work on other cars they are specialized in volvo cars. So we made the call, and Thomas said that while he is not sure if he can fix it in time, but we can just get the car in immediately and he can let us know whether they can do it quickly or not. After asking us a few questions regarding the smell, Thomas spent about 20 mins to have the car checked, it turned out to be an oil leaking around the seal of camshaft. Thomas promised us a quick fix for a really reasonable price. Even with other mechanics left for the holiday, Thomas promised the fix by the next morning which is Christmas Eve. The next morning he had the work done by himself in time as promised and charged us the same amount as he estimated, while he pointed out a few other problems of the car, that he thought we should check out after the trip. He did not even try to sell us one extra quart of oil that we lost on the road but suggested us to keep an eye on the oil level by our gas stops and add when needed. To us that is very honest business. Then we got back on the road as quick as we can expect, and the car runs free of smells throughout the trip. My Volvo check engine light had come on and I started calling every mechanic that had been referred to me.....one of them told me only three places had the Volvo equipment and software to diagnose the problem. He suggested of the three to call Master's Touch (the last choice would be the Volvo dealer)............ they were qualified, honest, but could be slow at times. I contacted the first two and decided to follow through with Master's Touch....not only were they a little less for the diagnostic, but were much closer to me. Making an appointment for last week, I came prepared to spend the day...water, books etc. Thomas had me out in two hours. The problem was diagnosed, the part needed was $1.15, and the $50.00 diagnostic fee was applied to the bill.......TOTAL was like $65.00 !!!!! Fast forward to today when the key fob broke. Volvo wanted about $450.00. I called Master's Touch who said they would need to see it. Drove right over and Thomas pulled out a new Volvo fob and rebuilt mine from the two....$135.00. As a senior citizen on a limited income a $450.00 repair is devastating. To find an honest mechanic is amazing not to mention how wonderful everyone in the shop was. I am completely baffled by the two poor reviews from 2015 and 2016. Dave O based his opinion on a PHONE estimate. There aren't enough stars for this business! I have been a customer for several years, while I lived in Abq. Now that I live in Santa Fe, I still rely on Thomas for major issues. When my car wouldn't start (it seemed that the chip in the key fob had broken when I dropped it) in Santa Fe, I called Thomas for his advice. A few minutes later, while I was waiting for a tow truck, a mechanic from the local volvo dealer appeared, saying that Thomas had called him & asked him to come and see what he could do. Drove in from out of town with all lights on dashboard on. Since we have a handicapped van we have no transportation alternatives and Thomas said he would look at it right away. While there in the driveway the cooling system gave way (how lucky to be at a mechanic when that happens!). Thomas diagnosed and fixed both quickly at reasonable cost. Let me start by saying that Tom and his crew do EXCELLENT work. Absolutely ZERO complaints about that! BUT......be prepared to have your vehicle there for quite some time if any parts need to be ordered. Also, if you have a vehicle with higher mileage, they will want to order brand new parts, instead of re-manufactured or used parts with the same warranty as new. Obviously in some cases, new parts are required, (hoses, belts, brakes etc.) But if you can get a transfer case used at $1000, compared to a new one at $1500 and they both have the same warranty, why in gods name would you buy NEW for a vehicle that has 150k miles??? Overall, masters touch does excellent work, and if you have a Volvo, there is really no better place to go in New Mexico. But be prepared to wait, and be prepared for a completely dis-organized front office. read more

My friend and I are on a road trip around half of the country and our check engine light turned on when we hit the CA-AZ border. After 1.5 days w/o being able to check it because the next day was a Sunday, we took it in to this place. The front desk lady was really help and explained to us what the problems might be. There wasn't really a problem (cost for a check-up was supposedly standard, about $50, and took about 45 min-1hr) but they explained as thoroughly as they could what probably caused the indicator to turn on and what to do and not do to avoid it happening again. read more
