So I needed my tires rotated on my Nissian, I stopped in and to my great surprise the cost to rotate my tires was 10 bucks. Billy was top notch on the customer service dept. I noticed that they did mechanical work so I asked if they could perform a oil change on my 2017 Nissian Titan XD. Bully said sure, that's easy, and set me up for a oil change on Wednesday 8 am. Fast forward to today, and I show up right on time 8 am to check in. Shaun the store manager greeted me and said they would call me in a couple hours when it was ready. Noon came around and no call. I called and spoke to Shawn again, and he said" It was just pulled in and will be ready in 45 mins". I decided to give them a lot of extra time and showed up 1 pm. As I sat waiting for an update I find that they had not started the oil change yet, but we're on it. They ordered the wrong oil filter and told me this after I sat waiting for almost an hour. 2:45 mins later it sounds like they found the right filter, and will now finish my oil change. I will follow up on this to let you all know if they rest the oil change counters on the computer and put in a window sticker. I really feel like this will be my first and last trip to Big O Tires in Ankeny. I gave it a 2 start because Billy is amazing. read more

My wife brought her van here for an oil change. While dropping off her van she gave the cashier a coupon we had received in the mail. The cashier said, "great we will apply this when you pick up your van." When she returned to pick up her van the cashier informed her that they had LOST her coupon and had to charge her full price. Go somewhere else for your tires! I feel like I got scammed! I went in to get new tires. I made an appointment online and I got an email confirmation confirming my appointment so I thought all was good. Upon checkout I notice they wanted to charge me an extra $55 per tire. I asked why this was the case and they said it was because the tires weren't in stock and need to be express shipped to make my appointment time. This was never communicated to me. I never received a phone call, email and no one told me when I arrived and dropped off my car in the first place. They claimed they called me several times but apparently I never answered. I showed them I never received a call from "Big O Tires" just a bunch of "Potential Spam" numbers. They claimed their number was the Potential Spam number and it was my fault for not answering HOWEVER they did call me earlier this afternoon to ask permission to do an alignment on the tires and the phone number read "Big O Tires". When I asked why I never received an email if they couldn't get a hold of me via phone they told me their system wouldn't allow them to email customers directly... If this was actually the case then. My appointment time should never have been approved if I did not approve express shipping. I would've easily rescheduled the appointment. I honestly don't believe the tires needed to be express shipped. It feels like they saw I was a young woman and thought they could take advantage of me hoping I wouldn't notice the upcharge. My one hour appointment for four tire replacement on two cars turned into a 4 hour wait..... they said our cars would be going in next. 2 people without appointments cars were pulled in and started before ours. We left for an hour and they called about replacing tire sensors and said they had them in stock so we agreed to them and they said it should be 20 minutes more. Came back waited another hour and when we asked they said they didn't have all the sensors and were waiting for them. $2800 and 4 hours later they were finally finished. No apologies about the wait and they never tried to update us during the process. We had to constantly ask them. If they had been upfront about how long it would be I would have made arrangements to leave both cars there for the day. Poor customer service......, read more

Their customer service is consistently helpful and polite. They will educate you without pressure, and don't make you feel bad if you have put off repairs to the future. Overall, they're my first stop before resorting to other tire, oil change, flushes, brakes, and other needs. They will even do their best to try to price match a coupon for other shops. read more

Avoid like the plague! I paid for an oil change and got an oil change one quart short of full, and an unwanted tire rotation. They did refund my $120, but that doesn't even come close to cover the frustration and time they caused me as a result of their incompetence/negligence!! I have been going here for quite a while for tires and suspension issues. Customer service has been phenomenal! They have also been really honest. I had a friend run in a ditch, and the shop he went to wanted to do $750 worth of repairs. I recommended taking his car here for a second opinion and Big O determined his wheel got bent. Charged him 25 bucks to replace his wheel and it fixed the problem. read more

I have a motorhome and both of my rear inside tires (got "dualys" in the rear) got low for some reason during the six months I was in Iowa. After having AAA Motor Club come and puff up my tires, I drove here to get the tires checked. They didn't find any problems, I was told they maybe did some "resealing" (whatever that is....) and my valve extenders were ok, and they didn't charge me a thing! I argued and said, "I must pay you for your time" and they said "no." Ok, so if the manager is reading this, I DID go hunt down a bank so I could get some extra cash and I came back and gave your employee a "tip" for all the work done. My tires seem fine so far! I'm crossing my fingers! Ok one caveat if you are in a motorhome: They can only work on tires with up to 20 inch rims. My Class C motorhome seemed workable to them. Based on what they said, if you are in a Class A, you may have to go elsewhere. If you bring your motorhome here, you will have to park at Menard's next door as there is no good place to park an RV in their lot. When you bring your motorhome over to their working area bay, DO NOT use the Menard's "cut through." Right after the "cut through," there is a dip that you will get hung up on with low clearance in the RV. What you need to do is go out, and go BEHIND the Chili's next door (and pray for not many cars in the Chili's parking lot....). Do NOT go in front of the Chili's. If you do that, there is a "hump" that may hang up your RV with the low clearance. When I brought my RV over, I did go through the Menard's "cut through" but I made an immediate right turn through the Big O parking lot. Well, don't try that either! I scraped bottom on the initial part of the "dip" trying to make the right turn. Just go out of the Menard's lot and drive behind Chili's. When you are done, do the same thing, go out behind the Chili's. read more

Unorganized, overwhelmed, and slow service... I was very impressed with the deals they offer. I dropped my car off at 10:30, 30 minutes early for my oil change appointment, in hopes that it would be finished in a timely matter. I was pleased with the friendly staff as I dropped my car off. They seemed overwhelmed and extremely busy when I dropped it off, and told me they would call as soon as it was done. By 2pm, I had still not heard from them, so I called to check on the status. After being hung up on 3 times, I finally was able to talk to an employee who told me I was next in line and it would be done in an hour. An hour later when I went to pick up the car, they had still not started the oil change. After waiting 6 hours for an oil change, I took the car and left. Very disappointed in the organizational skills of this franchise. I will not be returning nor recommending this shop. read more

It is time for my next oil change and tire rotation. Their service work has been fine, but DO NOT leave anything of any value in the car. My son had left $10 in one of the compartments and after my service, it was gone. It wasn't just out in the open, they had to open the drawer to get to it. Receptionist is nice but EXTREMELY unprofessional. Constantly on her personal phone with whom I can only imagine is her boyfriend by the conversation. Will be at the front desk and continue chatting on her phone while customers are standing there waiting to be helped. Gets an attitude with upset customers and yells at coworkers at the top of her lungs to come to the front desk instead of going to grab them. Service techs were great and efficient and Jess did a great job helping me find what I needed. read more

I bought a set of snow tires in Jan and was told that there would be no charge for changing from Summer tires to Winter tires to Summer tires as long as all the tires are Big O brand. When I returned in the Spring to have the Summer tires installed, they charged my $66. The manager would not stand behind their word. I believe management was changed in March 2017. read more
