I used to be loyal to another tire shop, but after getting stuck w two rounds of "surprise! low-quality tires," I broke up w them. Enter Big O, where Elijah and Brandon basically rescued me. The wait wasn't bad, they slapped on a shiny new tire, and boom.... my car is road-worthy again!! I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience with Big O Tires on California Oaks Road in Murrieta. About two years ago, I brought my vehicle in for a wheel alignment. When I picked it up, it was immediately apparent that the alignment had not been performed correctly. The steering wheel was crooked, and the vehicle veered while driving, requiring me to return to have the alignment corrected. After returning home and inspecting the vehicle more closely, I noticed several additional issues. My wheels had significant damage around the lug nut areas, including deep gouges and chunks of paint chipped away from the finish. This was far beyond normal wear and appeared consistent with careless handling during service. I also found a vape pen left inside my center console, and my floor mats were covered in grease and dirt from technicians' boots. No protective floor covers had been used, which I found disappointing and unprofessional. During that inspection, I also discovered that an inner tie rod boot had been damaged. I brought the vehicle back several days later, and the shop acknowledged the issue and replaced the boot. Fast forward to recently, when I took my vehicle to another shop for a routine four-wheel alignment. During their inspection, I was informed that the previous repair on the inner tie rod boot had not been completed using the factory-style self-adjusting clamps. Instead, zip ties had been used, which eventually failed and allowed the boot to tear. I returned to Big O Tires and explained the situation. During our conversation, I was asked what I felt would make the situation right. My response was simple: replace the inner tie rod boot correctly and perform the wheel alignment that would be required afterward. Had the repair been completed properly the first time, none of this would have been necessary. Based on that conversation, I left with the understanding that the boot would be replaced and the alignment would be taken care of. However, after bringing the vehicle in, arranging transportation, being without my vehicle for the day, and dealing with the inconvenience of yet another visit, I received a call informing me that the shop owner would replace the boot but would not cover the alignment, and that I would have to pay for it myself. After making multiple trips to the shop and spending time trying to resolve an issue that allegedly stemmed from a previous repair, I found that response extremely disappointing. The alignment was not something I was asking for as a favor. It was part of restoring the vehicle after correcting a repair that should have been completed properly in the first place. What was even more disappointing was the attitude I received while trying to resolve the issue. I was repeatedly questioned about why I was bringing this up two years later, despite the fact that the issue with the previous repair was only recently discovered by another shop. Had the repair been completed correctly in the first place, none of this would have been necessary. For some background, I am a car enthusiast, a cat enthusiast, a former Marine Corps mechanic, and I hold Toyota and Lexus certifications. I do not claim to know everything, but I have always believed in being honest, taking pride in my work, and doing a job correctly the first time. That is why this experience was so frustrating. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. It is disappointing when a customer is made to feel like they are the problem for bringing attention to a repair that was not completed properly. Just because time has passed does not make an improper repair acceptable. The company promotes the slogan, "Trust Starts Here." Unfortunately, based on my experience, I did not see the level of accountability, professionalism, or customer care that slogan suggests. Trust is earned by standing behind your work, owning mistakes, and making things right when they happen. This review is not written out of anger. It is written to provide honest feedback and help others make an informed decision before spending their hard-earned money at this location. My daughter was in town for the weekend and had to drive back to college in Santa Barbara and Assistant Manager, Brandon, and his crew, Kyle and Ethan squished me into their schedule and installed two tires, rotated and balance and gave me alignment for her car. When the alignment was not correct they did not hesitate to correct the situation and stayed 45 minutes after hours to make sure everything was satisfactory and safe to drive. I had two of our cars in there for a full synthetic oil change. Big O overtightened the oil cap so badly that it couldn't be removed without breaking and replacing the cap assembly. So now I'm out $200 for each car. There is absolutely no reason why an oil cap should be tightened on like that!! Don't take your cars to Big O for an oil change. You will end up paying way more in damage than what you save from their coupons. They don't even deserve a 1 star. read more

Chad the owner right away let me know the situation and had a new filter ordered and replaced. They ensure there was no lingering oil left in or around the car. They need to fix their scheduling before they booked people. We waited so many hours and told us to come back before 5:00pm but our car was not even ready. They didn't even get a chance to fix all the issues in my car coz they said they didn't have the proper equipment. Price is reasonable but I just hoped they would be honest with the customers early on if they can't fix the car and if they don't have a qualified mechanic so we don't waste our time waiting. read more

I have already left a good review for this place the other day but I just had to write another one. I sent my daughter to this location to get a diagnostic this is my daughter's first car and she has already been taken advantage of for the two other places she went to prior to this one wanting to charge her over $200 for a diagnostic. The manager Travis diagnosed her car, gave her an idea of what everything would cost and listed the work needed by priority and didn't charge her anything for the diagnostic check. This was very helpful and it gives my daughter an idea of what needs to be done how soon it needs to be done and gives her time to save up the money to have it done. I am so pleased to hear that they did not take advantage of the fact that she knows nothing about this kind of stuff. My wife waited 3 and a half hours after having an appointment for a $140 oil change on her Santa Fe. They said it would be done in two hours at the initial check in. In all of that time not only did they not wash it but they also didn't provide the multi point inspection. This is the worst experience we have ever had getting an oil change. We have been going to this dealer for years with multiple Hyundais. I could have gone to jiffy lube and got better service at a much lower price. Not sure if we will ever go back. read more

The check engine light came on in our 21 year old SUV. Took it to Big-O and Travis was awesome! Kept us informed through the whole diagnostic process. Ordered need parts BEFORE we approved the work, just in case and to make sure he got them in time. He even sent me video of the smoke test! Wife hit a curb and busted the rim and tire on her Volvo- I took it off the car and brought it in. Asked if they could remove the tire. (Just wanted the tpms out of it) They told me they don't do removals only repairs and install..... we bought 4 new 20" tires for the Wife's Awd from them in Dec 24' to the tune of $1,300 from this location and will be replacing 4 more once the new rim arrives GUESS where I won't be having her take it !!!!! I was in the waiting area because being a widow I have no one to help me. Never mind I just asked for my keys and left. No apologies, nothing said like can we make another appointment for another day. They didn't care. I normally purchase my tires here and have my vehicle maintained with Big-O, not any longer. I may be only one customer but statistics show that a unsatisfied customer reaches an average of 15 people. My late husband's friend is the regional manager for Big O you bet I will be sharing my experience with him. I see other reviews of the same complaint, so sad their service has gone downhill.
