We were…read moreable to see the Big Pink house through the fence, but my wife forced me to turn the car around before we got to the driveway because of the No Trespassing signs. I didn't blame her because I'm not looking to get shot. I love The Band, but I'm also seen the movie Deliverance so we turned around. I'm not sure how friendly the current occupants of Big Pink are, but I'm not sure the neighbors are too keen on visitors driving down Parnassus - it feels like someone's private driveway. UPDATE: I see from Kathleen D.'s review from 2014 the current owners (Don and Sue) are friendly and actually rent out Big Pink for others to stay in. However, I notice the website (https://bigpinkbasement.com/) has updates from 2015 and I wasn't sure what the current situation was like in 2024. I reached out on the website's Contact Us form and here's the response I received: "Hi Julian, Yes you may come down the road at your own risk. A neighbor put up the signs. We are still renting, the link to VRBO is on the big pink basement website. There is a minimum of 3 nights. If you have trouble booking please let me know. All the best, Susan LaSala"

My only wonder is without GPS back in the day did Bob Dylan or THE BAND find this location cause we used it and damn it wasn't easy. I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding for Nicole Puckette Photography a couple of weeks ago…read moreat The Barn at Cucina in Woodstock, NY, and I can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful experiences I've had behind the camera in a long time. From start to finish, everything about the day radiated warmth, care, and that unmistakable Woodstock charm. This big old tire lug even cried at one point (beautiful day). The Barn itself is stunning -- rustic beams and earthy textures balanced by soft, glowing light that makes every moment feel intimate. The space feels both elevated and welcoming, where guests instantly relax into the atmosphere. As a photographer, I loved how naturally light fell across the room, how every corner offered a backdrop of character and soul. The staff deserves endless praise, I must say. They were attentive, yet never intrusive, and moved with thoughtfulness. I watched glasses being filled before anyone noticed they were empty, plates delivered with genuine smiles, and small details handled with a level of care that made all the difference. And then there's the food -- it was out of this world. Every dish was crafted with love, pride, rooted in the flavors of the Hudson Valley and plated with artistry. From the first bites of fresh made pasta to the rich, soulful entrées of chicken and fish, guests talked about the food all night. And me, two days later I'm still talking about it. Guests lingered at long tables, savoring not just the food but a sense of connection it fostered. My hats off to the chef! I love what you do. The Barn at Cucina in Woodstock does not just host weddings -- it embraces them. It gave the bride and groom and their family and friends a space to celebrate love, life, the past, present and the future while also creating a sense of community, belonging. By the end of the evening, it was less like a venue and more like a gathering place for something sacred, joyful, holy. If you're considering Woodstock for your wedding, The Barn at Cucina is a gem. As a photographer, I can't recommend it enough -- it's a place where love is not only celebrated but elevated, wrapped in incredible service, unforgettable food, and a setting that feels timeless, chic, elevated.

We chose this because we thought they had a ton of holiday decor, however was mistaken; it's just an old school bar that serves Italian food. Service was very attentive and friendly. In general, everyone in there was chill and happy which is always a good sign. Ordered a few negronis which were all well made. We got the eggplant rollatini, fried calamari and house salad to start. They really don't skimp on the portions. Calamari included tentacles which I didn't expect from this kind of place; it was fresh and pretty much as good as it gets, especially upstate. Eggplant rollatini was well made and showcased their really good sauce. House salad is loaded up with cheese (parmigiana and gorgonzola) however I mean that in the best way; it eats like a Caesar, and it's a massive portion. Got the penne ala vodka with chicken cutlet for my main although I was tempted by the bolognese special. It was damned good. Vodka sauce was fantastic, and chicken cutlet was plentiful and on the well done side. I think I got 3 meals out of this and I'm not a small dude. Great meal all around and the perfect cap to our day. I don't make it to Kingston much however I would come here whenever nearby. Vibe is great and the food is better. Never a bad thing to have another reliable Italian place around!

Feels like and old school neighborhood spot. Parking on street or in lot. Just a heads up: I was charged a "to go" fee for an item I ordered to go. If I was aware there was a fee, I would just have ordered it and packed it up myself.‍
