The meat was smoked very well. Tasty little hand held. We were at a packed event so we had to wait in line 45minutes and then wait another 15 for the food. Big Rons Bistro (?) truck recently came through at lunch time to my office. I was super stoked, read through the menu about a dozen times and then made my decision...and the proceeded to wait...and wait...and then wait some more. In other words it took forever! FYI Big Ron's Bistro truck is a BBQ truck. Their menu features pulled pork and grilled chicken in every sort of delivery option you can imagine. Pulled pork on Texas toast, Grilled chicken club, Pulled pork or chicken nachos and pulled pork quesadillas. I ordered the pulled pork quesadilla and it was awesome. It was a good size for a rotund gentleman like myself. It came with pulled pork, french fries (on the quesadilla) jalapenos, cheese and onions (none for me thanks!). The food was awesome and decently proced ($8.00 for the quesadilla). I would NOT visit them again though.... Granted there was a decent line of people ordering in front of me and behind me but after I ordered my food I proceeded to wait for 50 minutes for my food!!! Why did it take so long? Were they making my tortilla from scratch? Overall I would rate the food at a 4 but dropped them down to a 3 stars (probably should of dropped it more) for the wait. Always love to try a new food truck. He parked at the office (Angie's List) this week. I got a pulled pork sandwich. By food truck standards it was pretty good. They serve it on Texas Toast which I don't really care for, but the pork was cooked well and had decent taste. It would have used a bit more smoke, but the consistency and quality of the meat was pretty good. $7 - decent deal! read more

I have had this food truck twice when it comes to my office building. The first time I had the chicken California, which was good but not what was described on the menu- missing the avocados! Today I had the BBQ pork quesadilla ($7). It was, I kid you not, almost 2 inches thick! Full of juicy tender pork. I was surprised that the French fries came in the quesadilla instead of in the side, but it was surprisingly good! Aside from the wait in 5 degree temps (ok, I did wait inside...) it was very good. Glad more of the trucks are breaking onto the business campuses of Carmel. 4.5 stars - but closer to a 3.5 due to serve time. Heard they were nearby - so checked out the online menu before I get there. Only to learn that their website was perhaps woefully outdated - or a brand new menu. The item I was drooling for had been dropped. So, went with the rib tips and fries. It was early, 11:35 or so. Hot, blast furnace of a day w/ burning sun. Waited way too long - and in commiserating w/ those around me - they agreed that the food is good but this is one of the slowest to serve trucks out there. Waited a full 8 minutes to order (only 3 in line) and 12-15 after that to get my food. Seriously. Big Ron knows rib tips though. 6 large portions and a nice pile of fries. I can't burn that much time outside during my lunch hour - waiting. Hope he has a tent in the winter. read more

I stopped by their food truck on Georgia street one Friday afternoon. The food was amazing and cooked fresh right when ordered. I got the tropical chicken sandwich. I didn't see too much tropical with it and a warning that it's a bit spicy which I didn't expect! Since it was chicken it did take awhile to receive my food but it was worth the wait. Waters are only $1 which was also great. Everyone was friendly and the food was hot and ready to gobble up! I will be back to this truck! read more

Last evening I was at Mallow Run listening to a band and drinking good wine. When I decided to get something to eat from their truck. I patiently waited in line to order , I didn't realize that it would take 45 minutes for a grilled California chicken wrap, which was missing a key ingredient described on the menu... avocado, also pickled onion & pesto mayo. I was hangry... I can't believe that for a packed event they weren't prepared. Overall it was still tasty and I ate every bite. Hopefully next time I'll have a better experience. read more

In the words of the great Al Green simply beautiful. Big Ron's is EXTREMELLY good! I honestly haven't had anything that was kind to the taste buds. A few of things that I've tried pulled pork, buffalo chicken sandwich, the big roasted chicken & the garlic fries. The bread pudding was also delicious as well & I've never had the urge to try it until Big Ron came along. The Big Ron is big enough for two people to eat off of. I've never had it; however a few coworkers said it wasn't seasoned enough for them. It does take a little longer than you would like for the food to come out, but it's worth it in my opinion. Also the menu isn't always the same. Think about it. Everything is not in season at all times or even priced the same. So I would assume that is why the menu changes. read more

I ordered the Big Roasted Chicken that comes with smoked gouda, onions, sriracha BBQ sauce on Texas toast. I'm a picky eater so I ordered mine with just the chicken and the sriracha BBQ and it was so good! I was impressed. The chicken was well seasoned with what tasted like blackened seasoning and perfectly cooked (still moist). The sriracha BBQ sauce was spicy, warm, and sticky. I don't know if they make that sauce themselves, but if they do, they should bottle it and sell it. Yummy! A little pricey, considering it's a food truck. I got the sandwich and a side of bistro fries for $9. Oh, and don't trust their online menu. It said the chicken was marinated pulled chicken, but it was just a breast. I was really looking forward to trying a new food truck. I love food trucks and the uniqueness that they carry. I did my research and looked on their website and saw yummy fresh cut garlic fries. I was very disappointed when I got my garlic fries as they were not the delicious fresh cut but the kind you could find anywhere. My food did not look anything like the pictures. The service was also bad. I had 2 separate orders(was taking one to co-worker) and they threw everything in one container, when ask to separate the orders, the guy seemed annoyed that I had the audacity to ask such a request. They were by the Riley Hospital earlier today. The wait was outrageously long, finally I placed my order, and they were out of the Cali wrap that I wanted. Fine, got a burger for some $10. After good half hour finally got my food--the burger was ok, but was thrown together with just a smudge of BBQ sauce, some roasted jalapenos, and cheese. Not even close to what was advertised. All in all, the longest wait ever by a smelly food truck on a street corner, and they couldn't even get a $10 burger right. One star is too much. read more

THANK you for a good food truck experience. My California chicken club sandwich was on point. All those little details like lightly buttered & toasted bread, perfectly cooked & seasoned onions, and pounded, juicy chicken breast (not to mention the fresh tomato, garden greens, & avocado...and what is that sauce?!) This place has glowing reviews, but I'm afraid that I got a bit of a disappointment with this food truck. This was my first time eating w/ Big Ron's. I work in Downtown Indy and it was lunch time. I stood in line for about 5 mins before getting to order my lunch. I ordered the loaded French fries. It took 45 MINUTES to get my lunch. There were countless other employees who were had stood longer than me waiting on their food. I finally get my lunch, head upstairs to eat and the pulled pork on top of the fries is burned. The pulled pork is crunchy and some of the fries taste half cooked. This was my first time and last time ordering from Big Ron's food truck. Apparently, it 's not always this way as there are numerous great reviews from others, but it wasn't a great first time for me. For the wait period alone, it was a one and done and I heard others muttering the same who were standing around me. Food trucks should not consume your entire lunch period just to get a meal. Maybe you should just stick to a sit down eatery for those wait times. read more
