If you are seeking a well maintained course, with clean, up to date golf carts, hospitable and professional personnel - do not golf at BIG SKY GC. We should have twigged when we drove up and the bag person was sitting on the wall, ignored us, and was picking his nails. Into the Pro Shop and was served by a somewhat "terse" staff member, and was told that they charged full price ($25) for a non golfer in the cart. It got worse....the cart paths were in a horrible state, potholes, uneven gravel filled holes, and the areas where they probably had had flowers and vegetation were a scruffy mess. Last server in the bar was surly and not at all welcoming. Generally the clubhouse was in need of "refreshing". We have golfed all over BC and especially Vancouver Island. When we are charged $222 our expectations are for a course that is well maintained and staff that is trained in hospitality.

In the Whistler area there are a handful of must play golf courses. Big Sky is one of them! Located in Pemberton (a 30 to 45 min drive away from Whistler) this resort golf course offers the avid golfer easy holes and challenges that are sure to get golfers screaming curses and pulling out their hair! I've played Big Sky many times over the year. I would say over the last 8 or 9 years I've made at least 1 or 2 pilgrims to Whistler and I would always play Big Sky. I played this course and I always remember it being pretty reasonable, but this year it was playing tough. My drive was pretty off. I somehow developed this ugly fade and most of the time my golf ball has been flying off the fairway. I was talking to an attendant at the golf course and he asked me how my day was going. I told him I was playing terrible and that I've played this course previously and I don't recall the course being this tough. He said yeah it's playing really tough this year. The rough has been purposely left long so that way ward shots off the fairway are really punished. I guess I felt a bit better after hearing that. It's not me! It's the golf course! Haha! Well my motto is it's a poor workman who blames his tools! On that vein I can't blame the golf course for my poor play. This is a pretty fair golf course. There are some tough narrow holes, but it also has it's share of "getable" holes! The conditions were outstanding! The fairways were pristinely manicured, and when walking on them there was a spring in one's step. Other golf course have rock hard fairways but Big Sky's fairways were soft and well watered. The putting greens were excellent. I would say if a golfer reads his putt right and executed his shot well no grainy obstacles are going to get in the way of an excellent putt! Despite my bitching Big Sky is an excellent golf course. I'll just have to come back and get this course on a good day next time!

Very nice golf course set among the foot hills. The course is in very good condition and the greens true . Fairways are nice and lush. Some of the holes are tricky with water hazards. There are good deals that include meals and a game. This is the second time I have played here in the last 5 years and the condition and challenge is just as good. Carts are available, but it is a course that you can easily walk.

I didn't play well here but still I consider this to be an easy course. The fairways are wide and forgiving. If you can (and that's a big IF for me!) keep your drive relatively straight, you can pretty much pin back your ears and wale away! I like Whistler golf course. Right in the heart of the Whistler area this course stands as a testament to man's desire to be perfect! Easy as it is we still can't play the perfect game! In golf the goal is to minimize and mitigate your errors... even on an easy course like Whistler golfer have to manage their mistakes. The course was in excellent shape. The fairways were green and flowing. The greens were a bit on the hard side (or maybe it's that I don't have a high trajectory on my balls), I couldn't keep too many approach shots on the putting surface. The bunkers were excellent. As my friend said... 'it's nice to know when you pay over $100 for the green fee there is sand in the bunkers!' Haha! Whistler golf course is very flat and walkable. I was lazy and carted but on a nice day it's a perfect walk in the park. I recommend Whistler Golf Course to all golf lovers. It's a beauty and a joy to play!

We caught the course the day after a huge rainstorm passed through the area, and were on paths only for this round. The range was on mats, and every strike threw buckets of water from the artificial turf up into our faces. It was WET. We ended up spending most of our warmup on the practice green, and that was a good thing, because even in late May, they were rolling fast. The course itself is beautiful. Many, many memorable holes. Fairways are generally wide enough, and the rough was lush without being overly penal. Lots of water in play, but it's manageable if you pick the right spots to miss, and there are very few forced-carry situations. I'd read that the wind can sometimes rip through here, and we certainly experienced that. I am generally in the 260-275 driving category, and on some holes I struggled to poke it out there to 190 with the big stick. Makes for some long par 5's when you are playing into the wind. On the other hand, it also gives you the opportunity to play some fun shots you might not otherwise... stingers, bump and runs, and so on. Overall this is a really fun, fair test. The conditioning, even on a wet weekend, was just awesome, and the facilities are terrific. A definite must-play on a Whistler golf getaway.

As someone who has a hard time letting others help for fear of anything less than perfect I was nervous to have a planner, but I cannot stress how much faith & trust I had in Carlee after our meetings together. Each time I mentioned to another one of our vendors that Carlee was our coordinator they praised us for making such a great choice! My husband & I have since talked to several of our friends who are planning their weddings & each time he says that hiring Carlee was the best decision we made. The days leading up to the wedding she sent out emails to each vendor double & triple checking they will be there at the correct time & always clued us in if there was any clarification needed. It was important to us to have a relaxed & enjoyable time at our wedding, as I'm sure most people hope for. Though I've yet to see that happen for others, as the day of is usually spent with family & the bride & groom running around setting up & making sure all is where it should be. The morning of our wedding I got a visit from Carlee, where she gleefully checked in & collected our vendor thank yous to pass out later for us. Then she was back downstairs creating the most beautiful ceremony/reception space we ever could have imagined. We had a walkthrough the day before where she took notes about what we envisioned & if something was different the day of, it was only because she had thought of a better & more efficient way to do it. If we ever decide to renew our vows we will be calling you again Carlee, maybe then we can do a warm destination trip to Hawaii! We are so unbelievably grateful & really truly owe our beautiful wedding day to you & everyone else who helped put it on! Thank you!

We rented our snowshoes from the main lodge, which also had cross country ski rentals (apparently 90km of cross country trails, whatever that is in miles), snowboards, tobogganing, and so many more wintery things that are completely separate from my understanding of normal outdoor activities. I mean, where else can you find biathlon lessons? Obviously the surrounding area is gorgeous in winter, a wonderland of quiet white stillness, forests and forests of evergreens, and creek beds lined with powdery snow and ice. There are frequent signs and maps to keep you oriented along the snowshoeing trails, which was great for us noobs. You can do anything from short out-and-back trips to several miles of strenuous trails. One star docked because I thought the snowshoes were pretty pricey for a rental - a flat rate of $16 regardless of the time you spend with them. They definitely did not seem to be in high demand either as there were dozens of pairs behind the register. Maybe instead do an hourly rate instead? This is in addition to a per-person entry fee to the park. Also, some of the cross county skiers were surprisingly rude when we stepped on their track - I get we were in the wrong, but have a little grace and chill out just a bit.
