Holy hell. First time in Big Sky and I am absolutely in love. The resort is MASSIVE...like, "I‑did‑three‑full‑days‑of‑boarding‑and-still-didn't‑hit‑every‑lift" massive. Every time we thought we were getting our bearings, we'd discover another whole zone tucked behind a ridge. Big Sky really does live up to its name. We kicked things off on what was supposed to be a "warm‑up run," but joke's on us, it was long, challenging, and honestly kind of brutal... in the best possible way. These runs are no joke and some of the longest I've ever ridden. But once the legs woke up, the rest of the day just flowed. Endless terrain, great snow, and barely any crowds. Absolute bliss. Had to pop into The Montage on the far left side of the mountain, and wow, the cocktails are phenomenal. Pricey? Yes. But you're on a mountain this bougie... what did we expect? Totally worth it. And let's talk about that gondola to tram combo up toward Lone Mountain. INSANE. The views are surreal, the exposure is wild, and the access is next‑level. Will I ever attempt the Big Couloir? Absolutely not. Do I love knowing it's there for people braver (and crazier) than me? Absolutely yes. Between the bowls, tree runs, off‑piste pockets, and wide‑open cruisers, there's truly something for everyone and somehow it never feels crowded. Big Sky has officially earned a top spot on my favorite‑resorts list. No question, I will 100% be back. read more

What a helluva trip to Big Sky, Montana for a guys weekend away! I didn't realize it could be so serene. It started off a little rocky for us because our buddy's plane could not make a landing in Bozeman due to the fog. We wound up walking to a local BBQ joint and then taking an Uber to the resort, which was worth it even though it was costly. When we finally arrived and hit the slopes the next day, the boarding and skiing was fantastic! There were runs everywhere with loads of snow, more snow than you can shake a stick at, especially at the upper bowl! While the ticket prices were a little expensive, the experience was well worth it. Overall, it was a wonderful escape, and I'm already planning on going back. Sometimes you just have to roll with the adventure. read more

As the the third largest ski resort in North America after Whistler Blackcomb and Park City, Big Sky truly is enormous in size. That is mostly good, but can be pose some minor difficulties as well. I had a great time there and will definitely be back, but first the negatives of Big Sky's size. The free parking is about 0.3 to 0.5 miles away from the Mountain Village base area. You can make this walk easier by dropping off your family or travel companions and your gear at the base area before you head back out to park your car. I suggest not waking from your car to the base area in your ski boots as I did the first day I was at Big Sky. Also renting demo skis from the shop at the base area allows you to store your skis overnight with the ski valet located in front of the main base area ski lifts. Because of the size of Big Sky's skiable area, getting around the resort can require some route planning. I suggest getting a printed trail map, even though you can get the trail map on your phone. Also, getting out of the Mountain Village base area in the morning can take time. Best thing to do is to get up early and be at the Ramcharger or Swift Current lifts when they open at 9 AM. Those will take you further out from the base area so you can use other less crowded lifts. The upsides of Big Sky's size our diversity of terrain and solitude. I would not recommend big sky as a destination for beginner skiers, it does offer a variety of terrain for intermediate skiers to terrain that would challenge very skilled skiers. Also, the size of the trail network makes for fairly uncrowded skiing experience even on weekends. If you learn how to adapt to the logistical challenges of getting around Big Sky, I think you'll have a great time there. There are a large variety of slopes to experience and the typically dry snow conditions are a delight to ski or snowboard. read more

Access & Parking I like Big Sky a lot, which is why this is frustrating to say--but access to the mountain is becoming a real issue. On busy days, especially powder days, it can feel like getting to the lifts is harder than it should be. The mountain has incredible terrain and lift capacity, but the parking and overall access just don't seem to keep up when demand is high. What makes it harder to ignore is where the resort seems to be putting its money. There's clearly been a push toward high-end upgrades--new installations, premium features, and even things like switching over to Rivians for shuttle transport. That all looks great, but from a skier's perspective, it's tough to reconcile when basic access--like parking capacity and flow--still feels like an afterthought on peak days. A recent example: with limited terrain open, access was funneled into fewer areas, but there didn't seem to be much adjustment in how parking was handled. I ended up getting turned away from a large, mostly empty lot near an open lift because it's reserved for employees and private property access--with no clear alternative provided. Seeing that much unused space while public access is strained is hard to ignore. For pass holders--especially those with blackout dates--weekdays and storm days are when we actually get to ski. When access becomes the biggest hurdle, it really takes away from the experience. Big Sky has everything it needs to be one of the best resorts out there. It just feels like priorities are slightly out of balance right now--investing heavily in the experience, but not enough in making sure people can actually get to it. read more

Fantastic ski resort! The cost of rentals and lift tickets are comparable to other resorts. It is easy to maneuver around the resort and between the city and the resort. One day we utilized the free shuttle from the city center to the resort and it was on time and a breeze. Another day we drove ourselves, parked in a free lot, and used the shuttle to get to the resort. This was also a great experience as the shuttle comes by every 5 minutes and is quick and efficient. I also spent a day snowshoeing. We brought our own snowshoes and utilized the Moose Tracks trail. I called ahead to ensure we could use this trail for free and the customer service was quick, friendly, and very helpful. This is probably my new favorite spot to ski! read more

Big Sky Resort is awesome! We stayed there for a couple days to just relax after being in Yellowstone Park the last few days, and it was AMAZING!!! Our room on the third floor was two stories and had four beds. There were also lots of activities such as a giant swing, bungee trampoline, and rock climbing. They also have the ski lift working in the summer with hikes and mountain biking at the top of the mountain. The staff there are super friendly and there are movies and more fun activities the last the hotel hosts every once in a while (the movies were going every day we were there in the conference room). I definitely recommend this resort in the summer with plenty of activities and hikes, it's just a great place for families! read more

Place is kind of a joke. Super overpriced and the mountain lacks restaurants and bars. Best part was when it started snowing and they shut the shuttles to and from the parking lots down because it was "too slippery". So, it's too slippery for your trucks and trailers but it's still safe for older men and woman to walk down that same slippery path in their ski boots, for 2 miles while carrying their gear? Sure. Great skiing. Great chairlifts. But my goodness, this place is so poorly run!!! There is ONE place to get lunch on the mountain. ONE, except for the snobby "reservations only" restaurant at the top of lift 6. There are ZERO other restaurants on the mountain. You have to go to the base in order to get food. Once you get there, there is nowhere to sit because it's so packed. Very, very poor planning and poor management. I'd love to come back here and ski, but the way it is managed makes me want to go anywhere but here. What a shame. read more

We did a ski tour from Idaho, Jackson hole and Big sky and it was our first time skiing Big sky. I have to say this mountain was by far one of my favorites!! The shuttle service is easy, getting on the lifts had hardly any wait and there was a huge wide variety of runs for all levels. The trails are groomed well and there is also plenty of ungroomed off the trail runs for the advanced adventurers. The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable! The locals definitely want this place kept under wraps, which is why I thought the "ski town" down the road was lacking. There aren't a lot of options, the dining less than desired. It was not set up like ski towns like Aspen or Jackson Hole. Nonetheless, our stay there was comfortable and the skiing was what was most memorable! Definitely recommend a visit! read more

Excellent place for hiking and vistas simultaneously. Took chair lift up the mountain and hiked down. First time a 3 mile and second trip 2.5 miles. Trails are well defined, separated from bike trails and good challenges. I have skied the mountain during snow season but never seen it during the summer. Tram to the very top is separate and operated only on Fri-Sun. We did this as a date day and both loved it! read more

We've always skied CO, WY or UT, so this is our first time to Bigsky. The terrain and high speed lifts are fantastic. The mini-terrain park was nice. The staff was friendly. There was a little crowding at the base but not in the mountain. That said, we're used to "on the mountain" services in Colorado such as on restaurants and buildings where you can eat with a view and use the restroom and warm up instead of having to return to base to do so. This also decreases crowding at the base. We greatly missed these services up on the mountain. Some trails could also be labeled better. It's challenging to find some of the runs. read more

Were from Detroit, and every February, we pick out a big mountain to go shred. This year's pick was this spot. One of the most talked about Ski/Snowboarding destinations in the United States. Situated only an hour from our air bnb in Bozeman, the drive isn't bad at all. Plus the efficiency of the drop off zones are superb. Then parking is plenty, there's different zones too, so there's not a bad spot to park anywhere since there's a shuttle constantly picking up and dropping off people. Two main lifts right from the get go. One to the left side and on towards the right side. Depends on where you want to go, they usually keep it moving. The runs are well maintained although, we enjoyed most of it since we had a falling leaf queen with us. Took us at least 2 days to do all most of the runs. The scenery is really dope too. Once its almost closing time, the village comes alive with a dope DJ cranking out tunes for everyone. The party atmosphere is definitely contagious. I totally had an amazing time here. This is one of the bigger mountains I've ever been to for skiing. They have a lot of free parking options nearby with a complimentary shuttle that runs from 8am to 6pm The views on this mountain were absolutely beautiful. They had plenty of trails for every ski level type. My favorite runs were definitely the single and double blue ones. I only went on two of the green trails and found the Pacifier trail to be way too flat. It took a long energy to push myself through that first trail. It was pretty cold when I came here because it was during the polar vortex, so opening was delayed a bit but I still had a great time skiing here. Almost all the runs are pretty long which I really liked, but the downside was there's a lot of flat areas in some of the runs, so you gotta make sure to keep momentum up or you could be hobbling slowly along like me at times through that part. So far it's been a slower snow year for them than in past years, so there wasn't as much powder and some of the non-groomed trails had trees, rocks, or ice poking through, which made it tough on some of the trails. Their chairlifts; Ramcharger 8, Swift Current 6, and powder seeker 6 are eight and six seaters that have footrests, are cushioned, super comfortable, and they also have a weatherproof blue bubble shield to protect you from the wind and cold. They also have a new completely enclosed Lone Peak Tram that is supposed to deliver amazing views, but I didn't end up getting on that due to the weather conditions and extra cost. I will definitely be back to this mountain again sometime and can only imagine how even more amazing the skiing here can be when there is more fresh snow. read more

My husband and I stopped in on our way to Glacier and were a bit less than impressed. He had always heard of Big Sky and wanted to see what it was all about. While he did like what he saw as far as the slopes were concerned - he was disappointed with the tiny village and selection of shops and food. We arrived for opening day and it was fantastic. Signed up for snowboarding lessons for ourselves and our boys. Lessons were great a lot of the instructors were knowledgeable, attentive and supportive. I do feel lessons could be more organized but we were satisfied. The Playhouse was clutch for our one year old he had such a great time. Jessie was so accommodating, helpful, friendly and my son instantly felt safe and loved in the space. The food is excellent, all the staff were very nice. The bar was also very nice . The resort overall really does allow for families of our size to be comfortable it's fully equipped with all you need for the family and the space is really clean. We will return. read more

What ended up being our last trip of the Corona shortened season was a lot of fun at Big Sky. This is a huge resort. We did our best studying the trail map to find the runs and lifts we wanted, and to know where to keep our speed on peak to peak traverses. Terrain at Big Sky is as challenging as any mountain I've rode. We also seemed to get all four season jammed into the few days we were here. We went from sunny and buttery spring conditions to bone chilling iciness, right back to warm slushiness that slowed you down when you hit it like you were dropping anchor. And, of course, they got dumped and I drove through a blizzard in the wee hours to fly out of Bozeman. They could sure use a few gondolas at Big Sky. Eight and six person lifts are just carnage waiting to happen. They're also no fun for snowboarders to be packed in there with everyone as our boards are perpendicular. By the end of our trip we had covered most of the mountain and knew where to hold speed to get across the traverses without needing to unstrap. We certain to return to Big Sky in the future-hopefullly the blizzard hits before we arrive. read more

This is a place for the .01 percenters. It's like Beaver Creek or Dear Valley. If don't earn more than $200K a year this is place is not for you. The heated lifts are nice but a daily lift ticket is $228. Lodges on the top the mountain either are sit down restaurants with $50 entrés or huts that charge $20 for a crappy hamburger and then police the area for anyone even thinking of bringing their own food. The runs are great but resorts in Colorado, Salt Lake, and California are just as good a lot less pretentious. I'm happy I was hear but since I'm not in the .01 percentile I'll probably go elsewhere. read more

The accommodations on site allow you to be able to stay on site. Restaurants, shopping, activities, relaxing retreats - all in one place! Complete scam of a cancellation policy. I booked a stay out in August of 2025, my plans have changed and I am not able to stay. I canceled this stay 7 months in advance, and they withheld 50% of my advanced deposit on the room. $75 for the pleasure of having a reservation with them that was canceled 7 months prior to the stay!!! This is their policy. You should be aware of this awful practice prior to booking with them. Use Priceline, or another option!! read more

Just as the name suggests, this place is BIG. So big that you may need a few solid days of nonstop skiing to really penetrate the mountain. The variety is impressive. There is a lot for all skiers, especially experts. Lots of tree skiing options too, for those of us who dig it. ::raises hand:: We took the gondola at the top just to check it out with the kids one day, but it was a pretty long wait-- 30 minutes just sitting in the cold elements because there are only 2 gondolas. Glad we did it, but once was enough. Not a lot of little mid-mountain cafes or warming huts for kids hot cocoa like Taos or many Colorado resorts, but there are a couple restaurants on the mountain and of the course many at the bottom. The high-speed, heated seat 6-seater was impressive and they also have some other covered lifts, but there are also many that don't have foot rests. All have nice cushion though, so that was definitely appealing. We rented an Airbnb with ski in-ski out and that was one amazing way to ski it. read more

Overall a good resort for Winter fun. Best for those looking to ski that don't mind some inconveniences. Rooms at the Village Center were good: lots of shelves and closet space, modern TV that supports casting, a tiny but very functional kitchenette. The Murphy bed in the room was OK. The couch bed was broken, but the maintenance staff quickly had it replaced (it was too broken to just repair) so that everything was fine the second night. Room decor was fun--very Western/Cabin themed and even had a bow and arrows (hide those quickly if you have little kids). The buffet breakfast at Chet's was somewhat disappointing and many of the nearby restaurants have limited hours. A major problem is getting around: the shuttles are few and far between, sometimes over an hour between pickups, with poor signage and no comfortable place to wait. Walking is not an option given the lack of sidewalks, so you're stuck waiting. read more

Big suck mountain resort is more like it. Only giving 2 stars because two of the valets and our initial check-in was welcoming and pleasant. For the price and the hype, it's not worth it. Especially during Summer. We were part of a conference of 50 or so people staying at The Huntley and The Summit this Summer 2022. The consensus among everyone was the food was awful. I mean cheap and awful. The only edible place was Yeti Dogs in the plaza, but you can't eat hot dogs all day and night. There was no housekeeping. One of our team checked into a room with filthy towels on the floor of the bathroom and unmade beds. The front desk sent a person up, but they only changed out the towels. They didn't vacuum or change the linens on the bed. That is just foul in today's world of communicable diseases. We, ourselves, had three days of no housekeeping and even called five times for two of those days to at least get new towels, the trash emptied and the room service dishes removed. We had housekeeping one day for a 5-night stay. Our entire group had the same experience. Our hallway was filled with room service dishes, so that was a sign of poor hygiene and maintenance at this dumpy hotel. Everything in the Huntley is old and dirty. The Summit was a bit cleaner, but not much. The majority of the staff seemed indifferent and didn't really care or take pride in the place either. The exceptions being the ones I mentioned above. I am guessing that management sees the Summer as not important. But this is silly. That is the one major area of potential growth for this mainly Winter getaway. The location has so much to offer in the Summer as a base camp between Yellowstone and Bozeman. To be honest, if your not going to make an effort during Summer, then reallocate funds for that season by closing during those months for maintenance and and improvement for Winter. Also, save the money for 5-Star cuisine and staff for the Winter season. Maybe you might compete with Aspen or other, better luxury ski resorts. For now, I will tell people to avoid the Summer season and to ski elsewhere during Winter. After all a dirty hotel in Summer probably stays dirty in Winter. And I'm guessing the food does not change based on other reviews here on Yelp. read more

Had a great time snowboarding at this resort. It is huge. Our first day we were lucky enough to have a some fresh powder to play on. The second day was in the single digits so we got a late start waiting for it to warm up. Not too crowded. We were able to board down and hop on the lift most of the time. First time skier and it was an amazing trip. We stayed at the Huntley which had a big heated pool and two hot tubes all outside and open during covid. They overlook the beautiful mountain and was great to relax In after a day on the mountain. I loved our stay at the hotel the staff was amazing, helpful and sweet. I would like to thank Jason who was running the carpet that day 12/20. For two newbies he helped us out a lot and it just blew my mind how nice everyone was from the start to end of trip even during this wild time. Awful! We booked a room for 2 nights. We arrived early around 1:30 pm and they told us they would call us to let us know when our room is ready. Well we never got a phone call from them so we just came back at 4 o'clock which is the normal check in time. Then we get to our room and I was like where is the bedroom come to find out it's a freaking Murphy bed. I currently have a broken foot and it's extremely hard to move the room. So we called downstairs and asked to change rooms and we were told rooms were available and that they would call us to let us know our new room. Again they never called us. So then my husband has to go back downstairs and then they tell him that there's nothing they can do for us. I will never stay here again. read more
