I thoroughly researched glamping experiences all over the Rockies, and decided to give The Yellowstone Collective Retreat in Big Sky Montana a try because they seemed a better value, very nice, and more authentic than the others I saw, and the photos were inspiring. WE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE PLEASED. Here's what we loved. (1.) We felt like we were really out in the wilderness, instead of a corporate thing disguised as glamping. (2.) The setting was jaw-droppingly beautiful. (3.) Our tent was comfortably and exquisitely outfitted. (4.) We had wonderful privacy and yet the staff was very available, pleasant and accommodating, and (5) The food was really delicious - not too fussy, just really good. The only thing I would suggest is that you request a graphic map with visual markers, mileage, etc., as we felt a little lost the entire time we were trying to get to the site. The staff was very nice in helping us via phone, but we would have arrived more relaxed if we'd been more confident in the route. We will definitely use The Yellowstone Collective Retreat again. We went to Collective Yellowstone for our 10-year wedding anniversary. It is a very unique property, and was a very unique experience. Our tent was amazing - very well designed, a comfortable bed, and a beautiful short walk to get to it. Also the food here was great. There's a chef that cooks breakfast (included), and a four-course meal for dinner (extra). Both were excellent. Also as first-time visitors to Big Sky, MT, the staff was extremely helpful in getting us to the best restaurants and nature activities. Everyone working there was extremely nice. However, they seemed understaffed, which obviously isn't the workers fault - they were trying very hard to keep up with interacting with us and the other guests. For such a high-end place otherwise, with a high-end price, I think Collective Retreats should hire more workers. read more

We just returned from a two night stay the Collective Retreat Yellowstone and I must say that we're ready to go back. This was our last stop on our ten day adventure and I must say it exceeded our expectations. Daniella and her team were amazing. Wonderful hospitality and attention to detail. The tents are so comfy and cozy. We could have easily stayed another night or two. Looking forward to returning to this location and also visiting the other Collective Retreat locations. Had a fantastic evening with the folks at the collective. The meal was brilliantly constructed and served by wonderful staff. The evening started with a short tour, dinner overlooking the lake and lone peak and concluded with the campfire. William is an awesome well trained chef. Definitely not Glamping, just high priced camping. First in their directions they instruct you to call when about 20 minutes from arrival. We did, no answer, also sent text. Arrived at gate, still no response. Happily we had a gate access code. Once within 'resort' be prepared for minimal signage and very dusty, bad dirt roads. Definitely bring a 4 wheel drive car that you don't love. You will see old wood piles along the way, not well maintained. At check-in you will need to sign an extensive waIver. The tents are cute & comfortable, but we had muddy dog prints throughout our room. Definitely bring old slippers to wear. Toilets are good. Your shower has a choice of HOT or COLD, nothing in between. Water also smells strongly of suphur. There are also no bathrobes or blow dryers. The tents have some power but very limited. You can't run the heater and the coffee pot at the same time. If you are bringing any nice clothes be sure to pack them in a suit carrier as there is not a place to easily hang any long garments. You may think I am whiny but for $600 a night I expected more than a tent with a bed! Breakfast Is served 8-10am. It is very good - eggs, pancakes, sausage. The views are beautiful!!! The Moonlight lodge is not within walking distance but rather a 10-15 minute drive up the mountain. There you will have access to a worn gym and locker rooms with decent showers and a blow dryer. read more

My wife and I celebrated my birthday and our 10 year anniversary here. From the service that was provided morning, noon and night, you wouldn't think that this operation is only a few months old. The location is incredible! Of the beaten path but close enough to everything imaginable. The staff is extraordinary. Daniella, Jaime, Mark and Chef Karen (Mama Moose), thanks for an incredible time and everlasting memory. The tents they provide are as comfortable as the Peninsula. Yellowstone Collective Retreat exceeded our expectations! We have been searching high and low for an African safari-esque holiday in the United States and we think we have found it. The camp just needs a few additions like guided hikes and activities to round out their offering - but as far as North American glamping goes there's nothing better that is close to this price! The set up of the retreat, the comfort and decor of the rooms and the overall experience is amazing. This is led by Daniella and her team who really do all they can to make sure you are having the best stay possible. And you can't beat the location - it feels super remote while not being that far from Big Sky Village. My number one reco is to spend as much time as possible at the lodge (not worth going off property to eat). So when they give you an option to do the BBQ box dinners/lunches do it! And definitely try to the farm to table dinner one night. I really couldn't find a reason to leave the property other than to explore Yellowstone! The setting is so tranquil and just downright beautiful that I felt like I needed to pinch myself more than once. We can't wait to return as well as try the other locations!! read more

The location is absolutely amazing. It has the best of both worlds. You are in a secluded area with a tranquil pond which the tents are around. But, a short drive you can be back in civilization; nice restaurants/pubs, lake with activities like paddleboarding, etc. Also, nice running trails. Great service. Romantic. Quiet. Relaxing! This was the best trip we've taken. Glamping in Montana was awesome. We were there for 5 nights, Thursday through Monday. Big Sky has great trails and we saw plenty of wildlife. The staff was great and very helpful and fun to be around. The tent was so comfortable and the bed was amazing. I would not stay anywhere else in the summer months!!!! I cannot wait to return, and I will be trying other locations in the future! read more

I must say, I was skeptical when my wife made reservations for a 2-night stay at the Yellowstone Collective. I'm not into camping or glamping. But it turned out to be sheer joy! We were greeted by one of the managers, Cristina upon our arrival and introduced to the grounds and to our wonderful "tent" with all the creature comforts of home. The "room" was tastefully decorated with antiques & stocked with water, coffee, teas, & soaps. The bed was extremely comfortable and between the wood burning stove and the electric blankets, we were very comfortable even when the temperatures dropped precipitously. You can't beat the location. We were nestled in the forest by a small lake and a fantastic view of the snow-capped mountain. The staff were awesome. Everyone was friendly & sociable but not "in your face" kind of way. It was easy to reach them, just text them & they immediately respond. The chef, Karen, was AMAZING! She cooked us one of the best dinners we've ever had. Don't be deterred by the cost of dinner, you will receive an awesome dinner, homemade bread, exquisite tastes and preparation. And you'll get to chat it up with Karen who's passionate about her art & it's fun to hear how she prepared some of the wonderful dishes. Overpriced and underwhelmed. To start, I can say their was nothing luxurious about this "glamping" experience. From the initial planning to the arrival and settling the charges it was completely unorganized. Before we even arrived I played phone tag for weeks trying to finalize our meals with Collective Retreats as well as our activities while staying and did not ultimately receive anything until 2 hours prior to check in. Not to mention the directions they send to find this place are minimal. We texted them twenty minutes prior to arriving as they requested and they were supposed to send us a gate code to get onto the property which they never sent. When we arrived at the closed gate we called and texted to no answer. We sat a the gate for a while (with another couple having the same problem) letting ourselves in by following another guest through the gate. Once we drove through the gate it didn't get any better. The roads were terrible and unmaintained. You saw debris and trash all along the way. Once we arrived to the check in area the disaster continued. The managers dog barked at me as we walked in scaring me. You immediately get eaten alive my mosquitos and painfully bitten by horseflies. There was trash around the main lodge area and it was a mud pit. After checking in we had to sit at the main lodge while waiting on our tent to be ready for another hour. Note this is two hours after we were supposed to be able to check in. We finally got to walk to our tent along another path that had piles of brush and empty mulch bags only to arrive at our mosquito infested tent. The only nice thing I can say is the tent decor was pretty. We had to hide under the covers to avoid being eaten alive. The next morning we were supposed to head out to go fly fishing about an hour away which we booked through the Collective Retreat. I had to ask the manager for directions to which she started giving us long verbal directions to the place and that is when I about lost it. This is not luxury service peeps. I had to stop her and inform her we would need written directions as well as an address to where we would be going. Those weren't much better. Nobody pays attention to detail at this place. We were supposed to stay three nights here and it was so bad we checked out after the second night. They leave a water jug in your room which they never refilled once in our three days there. They left food in our bear proof coolers outside our tent without ice, double charged us for a spa service, and were supposed to refund us for one nights farm to table dinner they prepare for you to eat at their unkempt main lodge. $300 per couple for one meal people. That does not include any alcohol. It was overpriced and let me paint a picture of this meal. The kitchen is three feet from your table and you can see inside the not good looking cooking tent. How is that for $300 ambiance? We got charged for a local resort that you could drive back down the mountain to use their amenities yet we weren't given any sort of access card to use these amenities. Overall it was a tragic mess and I would never recommend this place. read more

Marketed as a family place this is solely a place for couples. Nothing for kids to do and not safe as it is not fenced in for bears or moose. The tents and amenities are 5 star as is the view. The food was great. Drawbacks are the bathrooms but remember this is technically camping. There is a toilet and sink tent but if you need a more luxurious bathroom this will not be your idea of luxury. Also it is VERY expensive. If you are a couple looking for a fun unique place this is it. Personally I don't like walking in the dark through the woods to my tent with kids , unaccompanied and armed only with bear spray ( which they give you). They have bear proof coolers to put food in but I read later that bears are attracted to mint gum and toothpaste! Did not know that and those were left in my tent...if you are nervous about wildlife that can kill you this is not for you. When we stayed there were only very young females on staff at night so as far as security there wasn't any ( you are in the middle of the woods after all). read more

We are seasoned true tent campers, but opted for "glamping" to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, well fed and having the experience of a life time. The tents are well secluded from each other and despite the frequent rain/cold that we experienced during our stay, we were very warm and dry. It was great having a private bathroom at our tent and a warm shower. The scenery was incredible and the access to Yellowstone National Park made for a very memorable stay. We will definitely be returning to this or one of their other Collective Retreats! read more
