The lifeguards are always pleasant and friendly as well as very attentive. The only reason I'm not giving the pool 5 stars is the lack of shade. There are very few places that offer shade and that's an issue when you're out in our 100 degree plus Texas Summer heat.

From all the pool and watering hole exploring I've been up to, this has been the cleanest. Maybe there are some leaves in the pool, but the water is clear and bright. Unlike some other swimming venues with hair, twigs, bugs, murky water, and a slick of sunscreen at the top (Deep Eddy, I'm looking at you...), Murchison is terrific. The pool isn't too big, there are a couple lanes reserved for lap swimming, and then the rest is open. It's very kid friendly, as most of the pool is 3-4' deep (it makes flip turns a little tricky on one end..). There is a deep corner of the pool, about 8'+ deep. Biggest bummer is that its hours are seasonal and its closed for most of the year, like when school is in session.

If you live in-district the cost is more affordable, but either way the pool is opened to the public and a good value. The diving board is stiff, but the lifeguards are great and the neighborhood families are friendly. There's a large park and playscape next door, on the East side of the pool. You must have a sticker on your vehicle and a scan tag to park in the parking lot or use the pool. They do tow. Also has a private boat launch and parking for members. If you are not a member you can walk through the gate and use the park. Only problem, there is no parking on the street. Non members park up in the neighborhood or walk from thier house. The new board has done an amazing job. They put in a new board walk and kayake racks. In general, cleaned up the place. Seems like there are a lot more people going down on the weekends to BBQ, swim and hang out. So much fun for kids of all ages. They even made a little beach area on the lake that is perfect for toddlers and such. If you live in the neighborhood, sign up for membership, you won't regret it. If you do not live in the hood, make some friends who do! It's a little hippie and very laid back. We do ask that you don't bring glass containers (wine glasses/mugs/beer bottles) and please keep the pooches on a leash.

I dont care for this pool at all…read more First of all the HOA has a really hard time keeping up with this place, it is always getting vandalized and the HOA is always have to put more money into the place all the time, its not even worth it when more than half of your HOA budget goes a pool that is only open about 4 months out of the year. Complete waste of money. Also, there is almost no shade around this place. The one shaded area is always dirty and actually pretty far away from the pool. Since this is more of a family pool, I wish they had triple the shade. Its like a giant tank of water in the middle of a hot field. Each year I try the keycard they give us and it is always wrong, then it takes weeks to get back to the HOA to get you a new card so you can actually use the pool like you should. This has happened every year to me. Keycard system is great, when it works and the lifeguards really enforce the rules, so when the key does not work, they stare at you through the gate saying, too bad. And the lifeguards are rude. They probably have to with a lot of crap, but they have always been rude to me and I dont know why we cant hire people that live in Austin, for some reason we hire people from the czech or something as an exchange program. I dont know why because the language barrier is an issue sometimes.
