Tasty New Jersey dive. The place hasn't been updated in decades, but the sandwiches are still pretty good. Fresh bread and generous portions on the belly buster. The cheesesteak was lackluster, so I'd recommend the cold sandwiches. Took off a star because, while the sandwiches are good, they don't go above and beyond. I love a good sub. This place as fresh cut meats and cheeses piled on pretty good bread. Made to order of course and great taste and size for the price. It's convenient and easy to get to for me. I have been eating this food over 40 years still a small little sub shop they do it RIGHT consistently great subs the bread is always fresh good quality meats, very clean. If you are ever in the Kearny area be sure to check this place out. An excellent sub shop that places like Subway and Quiznos cannot hold a candle to. The subs are always fresh and packed with meat. Purists insist you have to have one with a Clinton's Iced Tea. Coming from North Jersey I know this is heresy but they I always thought Clinton's tasted like dishwater but if you have never had one, try one and judge for yourself. BTW - if you are a Sopranos fan, the location of the infamous Satriales is right down the block, it is a parking lot now but you will still recognize a lot of the surrounding buildings. read more

As. Good. As. It. Gets. Period. Stash's has been consistently good, using high quality Thumann's meats, etc., for the FORTY years that I've frequented the sub shop. Fresh, delicious, soft rolls. Heaps of lettuce, onion, tomato. NEVER STINGY on the amount of meats/cheeses. Always delicious. I no longer eat bread, so I'll have them make me a "sub on a plate" and they graciously oblige. Roast beef, provolone, sweet peppers, and the works (but hold the mayo). I highly recommend this combo, with or without bread. Great for TAKE OUT, but there are a couple tables if you want to stay. Edited to add: I just read the 2 reviews who say you get a "lettuce" sandwich and no meat. This is a lie. The subs are LOADED with meat/cheese. And super delicious. If their rolls don't appeal to you, there's no help for you there if you like a crusty roll, but seriously, Stash's has the best subs around. If you're from Kearny then you grew up on Stash's. It's been a staple in the town for a long time. This is good ol classic subs! Places like this are a dying breed. Customer service is good and the prices are def reasonable. I always try and support the "mom and pop" store. read more

My boyfriend used to live in Kearny and ever since he moved he refuses to have subs anywhere else than this one spot he always mentioned from back home. We happened to be in town yesterday and he decided to take me to Big Stash's Sub House so I can have a taste for myself. Two eat in tables, small counter, almost no room to move around. To be honest I wasn't expecting much out of this tiny place. Looks sure did fool me! After taking the first bite out of my pastrami, turkey, and swiss sandwich with the works, I was in heaven. I really wanted to love it. Hero King was closed so I found Big Stash with their great reviews and said let's give it a try. Bread was soft and although I prefer a crusty roll it's not a deal breaker. I did feel like I was eating a lettuce sandwich, they don't give you much meat at all. Honestly I would've been more satisfied with a Blimpie sandwich. Oh well you don't know until you try and I tried it. If you haven't checked out Hero King in Newark or Nutley. These were pretty decent subs! Appreciate the price for the amount of food you get, my girlfriend and I split a whole No. 3 and had a good amount left over. I wasn't crazy about the roll, which really makes the whole thing for me. Not enough crunch for my liking. The quality of the meat and cheese was pretty nice though. I first visited and ordered from Big Stash's when I first moved to Kearny back in 1995. I've since moved away but only two things keep me coming back to my old town of residence and that's my barber and Big Stash's! Why I haven't written a review sooner can only be laziness, as this is the best sub sandwich I have ever had in my life! Now that may mean many things to many people but bear in mind that my nickname is "Tony Cold Cuts!!" I love sub sandwiches. The are one of my favorite foods. Now whenever I go back to visit family, grabbing a sub is always one of my first stops (my fam & friends tease me about needing to get a sub, they just don't understand what it's like moving around and not finding a great sub like Stash's. A M A Z I N G! Hands down best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. Cooks the meat so that its so tender it melts in your mouth like butter. Tops it off with a thick slice of cheese and sizzling grilled onions, then to finish it with a wonderful spicy dark brown mustard. Soft italian bread holds this bad boy together and of course I get a little more of that spicy mustard on the side to dunk it in. Big Stash keep doing your thing! read more

Every summer, my husband and I visit NJ from Hawaii. In Hawaii, you can't get a good sandwich anywhere. So we wait all year to get a good sub. Twice, we've gone to Big Stash's and twice, we've been super happy. This time, we got two of them to take on the airplane with us on our way home. It was so satisfying. Best subs in town, obviously higher prices than the subway, wawa, or quick check has to offer. Though, these subs are more than a bang for your buck; a simple half sub costs around the same price as these competitors, will fill you up the same (if not more) as opposed to their "full subs", and it has quality you can taste. It sucks they don't deliver, but these sandwiches are the reason we are willing to drive here than pay extra for delivery or waste our money on a crappy footlong. Most overrated Subs in the northern NJ. I do not understand how people like this place, but a lot of Kearny people are stuck in the 80s. If there was a deli next door I would have had to walk out to get some cold cuts to add to my lettuce sandwich. It's worth the extra 10 minute ride to Lyndhurst to the other famous sub shop in the area, the sandwiches there are 10x better. There are even 3-4 better places if you cannot leave Kearny. Stash's is hands down the best Sub House in the North Jersey area. It's quite the favorite for a lot of people around here. The sub's are a bit expensive if you're use to eating that Subway & Quizno garbage. The subs are very fresh & really packed with meat & veggies.
