Please do not patronize this establishment. I visited Saturday 1/14 around 1pm. As soon as I walked in I felt a very uncomfortable vibe and should have known then to walk out. But I was getting lunch for several people and there aren't a ton of options on this side of bloomfield outside of fast food. As soon as I walked in the establishment the woman at the register who has an earpiece in her ear stats loudly "all of them are criminals!! Yes all of them" I don't know who "them" was but it was very off putting. When it was finally time to pay she had the audacity to try and overcharge me by 30 dollars. And started to become confrontational when I tried to ask her to itemize the total. Once she realized she was in the wrong, she gave a half hearted apology. I purchased 58 dollars worth of subs/drinks/chips and she refused to give me a second bag. She also made sure to let members of the local PD in front of me when I was getting ready to pay adding to my wait time. The disrespect was appalling. I also think it is shady that they stained the glass white so you cannot see their produce , condiments or what you sandwich actually looks like as it's being made. And the sandwiches were not that great anyway. Go to Jersey Mikes instead even if it is a bit of a drive. Sandwiches and Customer Service is way better. read more

Absolutely nothing special. People rave about this place but I could get the Italian sub my mom wanted anywhere else. Very little mayo, they didn't add oil & vinegar - what's a sub without it? But the topper was the two people working. Both unmasked and one with a Q Anon hat. So now I know you aren't vaccinated while dealing with the public AND you're crazy. DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE AND THEN GLOVELESSLY TOUCH FOOD I ORDERED FOR MY IMMUNOCOMPROMISED MOTHER. This spot is dirty in more ways than one and nowhere I'll go back to. Absolutely gross. The sub wasn't shit, either. One slice of each meat on a giant roll, very little toppings, and like one slice of meat for whole sub. Retire. You're done. SAVE YOUR MONEY. You can not get a better tuna sub in the state of New Jersey then at Lenny and John s i been going to this spot since I was a baby and Johnny still making the best subs consistently for year after year . The place is super clean and easy access from the parkway . You on the street parking and in back of the building too . They have home made salads ,potato ,and macaroni ect . Ordered from here yesterday and was terribly disappointed. We ordered a tuna sub a whole Italian sub(pictured below) and a chicken salad sandwich that was overloaded with huge chunks of onions. Stopped in to try this spot out. It has the feel of an authentic original deli; from vintage soda crates to Pepsi relics. My wife and got the special (turkey BLT) and we were both impressed. Of course I got "the works" which elevated the sub even more. To top it all off, we got the Lenny's homemade and bottled rootbeer. The staff was very nice and supportive because we all know sometimes ordering in delis can be intimidating with the loud talking and toppings selection. Great local sandwich spot! Recently went after living in the are for a long Time and was very pleased, mom and pop deli style place, fresh meats and beard. Great sub shop. Was my first time in, and if your a submarine fiend, it's definitely worth the trip. Bread was on point - soft and a nice chew. Veggies were super fresh, and the tuna salad (which as you might see from other reviews, has a cult like following) is definitely legit. If you don't like super creamy tuna, maybe not your cup of tea (fish?), but flavor was on point definitely. And bonus points for the thin sliced garlic pickles on the side. A little shake of vinegar & oil, a dash of spice, a couple friendly smiles from the owners... I became an instant fan. Will come back for more, and may consider changing this to a 5 Star review, but need to try more things first. Was in the area recently and wanted to patronize a local small business instead of going to the brand new Jersey Mikes across the street. I don't really like a ton of meat on my sandwiches but they were rediculouse. I think there was two or three thin slices of ham and a single slice cheese. My wife and father in law are in love with this place. The only con that I have is that they have such short hours... Food here is pretty good! its not your typical subway or deli, I don't know how I would classify this place... They have about 15 options to choose from on the menu, mostly Italian meats and things like that. They always get the Italian sub, its about 2 feet long, I am a sucker for their tuna. Good quality sandwiches for an affordable price. Came here on a Saturday early afternoon. No one was in line. Ordered the thanksgiving sandwich and the meatball parm. Thanksgiving sandwich is just what you would expect. They give a huge pile of fresh turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, etc. It really hit the spot. The meatball parm is delicious as well and they are very generous with the amount of meatballs you get. On top of all the deliciousness, the bread is fresh and so, so soft. I have to do an update. I love Lenny and John's. I always loved the tuna subs. 2 to 3 years ago the tuna subs were made by a younger guy (don't know his name) The sandwiches were hearty and heavier. Now an older gentlemen is putting very sparse tuna on the sandwiches. I have no issues with paying the extra $1.40 for extra tuna on a whole. I wish the younger guy was still there. It's still not an issue. I patronize the establishment anyway. Just putting it out there. read more

This place is right on Bloomfield Ave. with like 3-4 parking spots out front. I parked at the Wendys, where they have signs that says Wendys parking only, but I was fine. So right off the bat I walk in and this place and it STINKS like industrial cleaner. Really not appetizing. I got 2 sandwiches- tuna and the jumbo. The sandwiches are HUGE. Started with the tuna and was not impressed at all. The texture was so odd, it was like the tuna was whipped but somehow chunky. Odd. Taste was ok, but certainly not the best tuna I've ever had. 3 stars. Thankfully the jumbo sub was great. Meats layered thick, veg fresh, not too much oil and vin, bread was soft but held up the the sandwich. Really good- 5 stars. Average is a 4. If you are near here, stop by. This sandwich spot was recommended by my father, who almost never disappoints when it comes to deciding the best spot to eat. I was craving a nice cold sub and had my boyfriend join me. When we walked in we noticed there was lack of staff, no one wearing masks and an older man who was taking my order being rude when I asked what kinds of cheese do they have. Everyone seemed really flustered and concerned about other orders going out. My boyfriend was disgusted when he discovered his Chicken Parm being microwaved before being placed on his sub. I've been going here now for a couple of months and every time their subs have been superb . The bread has always been fresh and soft and hold everything together quite well . Tomatoes , onions lettuce all fresh . They also pack it up with a decent amount of meat and cheese . I'm happy with their prices a large is actually huge in my opinion and really not meant for one person so save it for later! To top it off everyone I've dealt with in there is extremely nice . The only negatives (if you can call them that ) is parking can be kinda tricky . You can park in the Staples parking lot which is behind the Wendy's if you don't mind a short walk . The Wendy's parking lost has the "You will be towed..." sign so while I don't think they'd actually do it I rather not find out the hard way . Also they close kind of early...to be fair most places like this that I have encountered do close early so keep that in mind if you think you can get a sub on the way home from work. I went to check this place out the other day and really enjoyed it. It's very basic but they do basic really well. Cheese means provolone, that's it. There are some toppings selections, but if you're expecting Subway or something TAKE A HIKE! Parking can be tough there. Although it was last minute and I wasn't able to leave a deposit, they took my order and the sub was ready the next day right when they said it would be!!
