Big Tex has a huge community of bodybuilders, powerlifters, and strongmen, so if you get easily intimidated by big, strong people, then this gym is probably not for you. But even the strongest person had to start small, so if you can get past that, this gym has all the machines and equipment you could possibly need for a variety of fitness goals. Their day passes are $5. One area of improvement is in the upkeep of their equipment. For example, the hip thrust machine belt broke off, so it's currently tied to the bar by a knot, and the hip pad has a bunch of tears so the belt digs into my hips. Some of their equipment could be fixed or replaced. Overall it's a solid, no nonsense gym.

My favorite gym in Austin! Enough space for everything. Never feels too packed. Enough machines and benches for everyone. Love it here.

I also like the layout and the overall vibe. That said, for a Gold's Gym, I expected a little more. It can get pretty crowded, and some of the equipment can be hard to get on during peak hours. Nothing bad about the gym at all, it's a perfectly good place to work out. I just don't think it lives up to the hype compared to some of the other gyms in Austin. There is something for every discerning gym member. I went for a total body workout early this morning. While the time was early morning, the gym was in high gear with a fully packed gym...not an original idea. It was not long waits for the equipment....so, the selection of equipment is good. My goal was to do 3 set of 15-20 reps. Goal accomplished...in addition, it is centrally located with easy access from Burnet Road. Very knowledgeable and respectful, but also friendly and professional, "no-nonsense and all about the work out" and the technique at the same time type of experience. I especially like that they don't waste your time but challenge you while simultaneously teaching you how to "get better" working with what you've already got and adding on to what you need to learn without being condescending or too ridiculously intense. I made the decision to invest in myself recently and got Very lucky in picking just the right trainer. Experienced and professional, but not afraid to push you after assessing where you are at in your fitness. Justin met me where I was at, not insulting my fitness level or intelligence by giving me any "fu fu" wussy work outs, but also evaluating my form and helping me work through some old injuries and incorrect muscular patterns so that I would perform to a higher level while preventing any further injuries in my body while training in a more technical and smarter way. If you're looking for a unique, respectful, and professional trainer that will create a great custom work out plan just for your body and individual needs, this is a great place to start on your fitness journey and the road to growth and improvement. I highly recommend him!

If you are looking at joining this location I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. For $221/month you are paying for AC that doesn't work (it was in the 80s inside recently). For 2 gender neutral single use bathrooms that I'm not convinced they are cleaning. To take a shower in a trailer in the back alley with no hot water and a smelly drain. For no towels to be put at said bathrooms. The only thing good about this gym is the front desk people are nice. I called to try to resolve the issue and the manager is candidly snippy at best. They also do NOT respond to their emails (I emailed on 8/4 - still haven't heard back). Being honest - you would be better off joining these places: Crunch - has sauna, brand new, $10/mo, 6 mins away YMCA - has pool/sauna/hottub/full gym/child care options, $75/mo, 10 mins away OR just a different location. The Lifetime on 620 makes this place look like an apartment gym
