One of two Lifetime Gyms in the North Austin area, this location is closer to the Domain and the main feature is the lake where you can swim, canoe, and paddle board (there's also a running trail out there). The amenities are decent and they have a nice range of machines and weights, but there are no saunas or steam rooms to enjoy and decompress. Rumors say they might convert an area to have such services. The second floor is pretty dedicated to their studios and cardio as the main floor has machines, weights, and dumbbells. You can bring your work bag here and do some work before or after a session knowing they have a full cafe available with coffee and cold brew! I'm enjoying my time at this location since they have a four lane outdoor lap pool, but if you don't mind a drive check out the other location a bit more up 183 and see which location is best for you. read more

I'll give this Lifetime Fitness credit where it's due in the fact that it's the only place where there's a quarry, allowing members to partake in lake activities and what not on their grounds. You'll need a wristband to confirm membership via the front desk, there is also an outdoor covered swim lane pool which is just fine. Parking is insanity after work, which I've never been, I always go in the mornings or during my lunch break since the crowds are lower. This is an 18+ only restriction gym location so for childcare, this is nonexistent. Which is a bummer considering how amazing childcare is inclusive when considering our lifetime needs for our family. The lifetime North Austin location is our home base, being only 5 mins from our house in Lakeline proximity and the fact that parents night out isn't around here makes this an adult affair, so parents will only be able to leverage this gym if kids have been dropped off at school or during the day. The cafe is tiny, a few tables for people to set up in the front if they want to sit and indulge but otherwise, I can't really call it the full lifetime experience since no sauna or steam room is a bummer too. But again, with space restrictions, I don't think there's anywhere else put this. Fun, fit place for the young working person in North Austin. Not so much a family friendly adult working space for the whole vibe of my day to day so this isn't my favorite but it is still a lovely gym. read more

I've been coming to this gym for the past week and so far I've had a great experience. Tracy, the gym manager signed me up and showed me how to use their app to sign in with each visit, reserve a spot in a class, and order food and drink from the in-house cafe. The gym is spacious, very clean, and well-laid out. I like all the thoughtful amenities like towels and several vanities in the locker room. I joined a gym to mix in cross training with my marathon training and this gym really does offer a variety of machines, equipment, and classes to suit my needs and goals. In terms of group fitness, I've attended cycling and hot yoga. The instructors are well-trained and passionate about what they do. I'm excited to explore more of their classes and take advantage of their private lake too. read more

The good: location has an outdoor gated lake area where you can paddle board or walk around the lake, beach volleyball courts, an outdoor rig (no equipment) and a turf area where you can flip tires or push. It's also a convenient location. Parking is not as bad as it seems, the old bank next door is not occupied so you can park there! The bad: this location is extremely compact. It has no sauna, no steam room and only a small lap pool out back with a couple lanes (no swimming). This location also has no belt squat machine. The toilets are separated from the changing room (where the sinks are) which is weird. You have to open a door to wash your hands ? Hello, unsanitary lol. A note about the AC as I was impacted by these reviews before joining - it's not that their AC doesn't work. It's that when hot yoga runs in the studio upstairs, that temperature permeates the entire upstairs (the building is shaped like a square donut). That also means the "extreme" heat you experience is limited around the hours of hot yoga. I have been a member for 6+ months and I've maybe be there 2-3 days it has been an issue. So it's not pervasive IMO, just tough if you always workout during that one afternoon class. To me, it's not as big of a problem as the comments lead you to believe. Also the main picture is NOT of this lifetime currently and I've also never seen the humans who spammed their account with 100 awkward pictures of working out. read more

I go here in the off hours in the afternoon a few times a week and it's wonderful. Haven't experienced any cooling issues but it isn't summer yet. Despite the location off 620 having more amenities, as for weights and weight machines it's about the same combination of gym equipment without being in a mega gym. There is a smaller outdoor pool and you get access to the quarry lake too. The gym is pretty clean both the patrons and staff usually wipe down the equipment. I go through an employer fitness plan which is way cheaper than the published rates and I can use all the life time fitness locations except downtown. I don't need an indoor pool, water slide , indoor. basketball court, spa services, or indoor pickle ball so I don't need to drive 5 more miles to go to the bigger location. Also if I need a sauna or steam room, the Y also has these. I also like how they have towel service too and the lockers don't require you to bring your own lock. The life cafe is also great. read more

I recently visited Lifetime - Arboretum for a tour of their facilities hoping to make this my home / HQ gym. I saw the new pool in its YELP profile and the their website: https://www.lifetime.life/locations/tx/austin-arboretum.html (main photo) and wanted to check it out. Booking my tour was easy online and staff were communicative. However, as soon as I got to gym I was informed that photo that I saw online was NOT their facility (Oh, and that there's no sauna!). I have already flagged the incorrect photo for removal in yelp (check out the photo attached), and once that is addressed, I plan to revise and provide a more objective review since the staff in this location was very friendly and professional. Despite this, I still had a good impression of the other areas of the facility and look forward to an improved representation on Yelp. read more

I checked out this lifetime as I was exploring gyms in the ATX area, and it was an incredible experience. I believe this is the only lifetime that has a lake, which is super cool. I hope to come back soon and take a dip in the lake. I loved the service here, as the staff was super friendly. My only complaint is I do wish there was a steam room and sauna. I completely understand that the gym is smaller, but this was a bummer. Regardless, this is a wonderful Life Time, and I hope to be back soon. Wow. This location got even worse. I brought a thermometer with me last time I worked out and clocked the upstairs area at 87 degrees!!! Why would I pay money to work out in a sweat box? Management constantly lies about the a/c and they have maybe 3-4 mini fans for the entire upstairs area. Shameful. I'm from Austin and lived here my whole life. I recently moved to the domain, and this lifetime fitness is the closest gym to me with the amenities I need. It is a clean gym and has nice facilities; I would give it at least 4 stars if it weren't for one incompetent staff member who I assume is the manager because she is always at the front desk. A week or so ago, my car was broken into in the lifetime parking lot. This said manager woman was working the front desk and smirked at me as she told me I would need to file a police report before they could release the camera footage. Less than 24 hours later, police report was filed and they told me that Lifetime Fitness would not release the footage! I went back and spoke to the condescending lady, who immediately got defensive and said they would need someone higher than her to release the footage 2 weeks later. At this point, she was hindering a police investigation. It makes you wonder... was she in on the crime? Did she need a few extra bucks to pay for the membership here? This neighborhood isn't what it used to be but it's very disheartening to know a gym that you pay this much money to will refuse to assist you if your car is broken into in their parking lot. Sad day for Lifetime Fitness. Hoping the "general manager" or whoever in corporate sees this and finds a way to quickly and promptly respond to a police investigation. read more

I come here when i want to paddle board. Usually a Saturday late afternoon. They ask that you return the paddle boards by 6PM and allow for swimming until 6:30PM (Saturdays). Upon check in have the front desk give you a bracelet which has two codes on it. There are 2 gates to access the trail around Quarry Lake and the lake itself. It's clear, relaxing, quiet. there's a dock to sunbathe on. Way nicer than Lady Bird Lake. The gym itself is smaller than their south location. There is no sauna. In the women's bathroom there's the usual hair dryer, shaving stuff, q-tips, cotton balls and showering products. I think it's so nice to have this paddle board/lake with the membership. They have swim lessons here as well. The cafe looks great. Things are clean. Staff are helpful. The outdoor pool has 4 lanes since one is blocked by cement columns that hold up the patio on the second floor that has some bikes. read more

I like this club a lot. Nice that it is 18+ too. The locker room fixtures make it nice to prep for workouts and shower up after. There isn't direct access to the pool from the locker room which took a little getting used to for me. The quarry lake in the back is AWESOME especially because the natural water is so much better for my skin. The cardio equipment on the second floor faces out the windows and overlooks the lake, sand volleyball court and outdoor workout area. it looks nice. The equipment is great, modern, good layout and spaced well. I never made it to a class unfortunately. The cafe has more limited options than other lifetimes, but that's fine by me. read more

Apparently "fixed" is still hot. I might as well be working out in my garage. Really subpar for the amount paid for monthly membership. Change is inevitable in everything we encounter. I have been a member of this gym and the downtown gym for over 20 years. Lifetime acquired them both from Pure Austin. They are still trying to figure out the culture of Pure Austin and the original members that are left. I hope to help them understand their mindset and facilitate a solution in keeping OG members from that culture. This north facility has a great powerlifting area along with a vast free weight area, machines, and the outdoor activities. You can still access the trail around the quarry lake and the stand up paddle boarding. They have two heavy bags downstairs. They are great for people who box and or want to work on their striking. These locations are still my home away from home and after 20+ years I intend to keep it that way. As long as this corporation and their staff embrace the Austin culture they will thrive in our city. read more

This location was never meant to be a lifetime. It lacks many amenities such as a sauna and steam room yet you still pay full price for a membership. Rock climbing wall has not been open once since we joined. However, it is clean, and the staff is overall relatively friendly. Paddleboarding is a nice perk and unique to that location. Do not judge all lifetimes by this one. It's the smallest one I have ever been in. I have been in lifetimes from Jersey to the west coast. They are good gyms this one happens to be very tiny. In south Austin is a normal one and we have several great ones in the Dallas Frisco area. But it's not bad here. I can see it getting very crowded east. read more

Not great. Recently moved to north Austin from south Austin and this location is much worse (and more expensive) than the south location. We loved working out at the south Austin location and the classes there were always varied with great instructors. Most of the classes at this Arboretum location are dull and the instructors seem uninterested (and rude on one occasion). The actual gym floor is also much smaller and can be packed. You should also know that parking can be an issue here, as noted by their sign on the front desk reminding you that you may be towed. There are better gyms around this area and I would not recommend joining Life Time if this is the location near year. read more

I'm a member of LifeTime Scottsdale which is a 24x7 Onyx. This Austin one is a Onyx limited. I was in town looking to moved my son in Austin and we wanted to get a workout in. Plus it was really close to where we were staying. The gym is nice and clean. Downstairs is the weigh machines and free weights. Limited machines but they were all clean and didn't really have to wait. They also had a small rock climbing gym downstairs. I mean really small. I liked the workout area. Didn't go upstairs but all the cardio machines were on top. Lockers were the same with combination locks. Everything I'm used to at LifeTime. The staff was very friendly. Front desk was friendly too. Had a chance to talk to the guy at the LifeCafe and he was cool and friendly. Got a protein shake and it was pretty good. Few tables to relax and eat after your workout. Not a bad workout I must say. Didn't get to go outside but it has a outside pool, tires to workout and I think kayak too with the attached lake. Anyways, It's a nice gym to workout and I think it's open til 10pm. So of course since my son just moved in right around the corner then I will be back for my vacation workouts. Stay strong. Enjoy read more

They own quarry lake which provides you access with your membership. Cons: Cramped, overpriced, and overly packed without enough equipment even during slower times. They own the lake, so there's no public access. Sketchy business practices. Personal trainers are just salesmen. There's a monthly fee to put your membership in hold?! Requires 30 days notice to cancel your membership; what is this a lease? Starting a membership will automatically enroll you in a magazine you don't want and they don't tell you about but will charge you monthly for. This you will only find out if you go in and ask for a receipt, since they won't otherwise provide you with one. read more

How this LifeTime still does not have a Sauna is actually quite comical, they have an entire lake but can't put up a little sauna in the back or down by the lake or something to make up for the loss of space inside. I love this lifetime and actually moved close to it, but it hasn't expanded like they promised. These are basic health necessities for residents living on the lake, and the surrounding area. Now that Lifetime Fitness has taken over Pure Austin, I was happily surprised to find not only Dawn still at the helm but with some fantastic updates to the gym! I love the new white HOIST equipment and the beautiful updates LT made which were new wood like flooring and gorgeous grey and yellow Granite in the bathrooms and towel area. Came to this location to take the tour - they do not have a sauna or a steam room which is high on my "must-have" list for my home gym. The person who was assisting me, AJ, said there's a second location up north that does have one and it's 15-20 minutes away. I prefer my home gym to be closer and have the sauna/steam room - but this location has a private lake and the membership gives you access to all the classes and equipment needed to enjoy the lake. read more

The app never works, the schedule online is never correct, and the front desk can never answer questions. Since the change from Pure Austin, Life Time has been disorganized and seem to not value their employees. The gym would be more effective if corporate would communicate with the gym's staff and instructors. The only pro is the remodel. They have pretty pictures on the wall. The new spinning bikes are the worst though. They are difficult to manage. read more

Clean, friendly, and I like everything they have in place for COVID protocol, which they actually enforce. They are also 18+ facility, so teenagers aren't even allowed to work out at the same place as their parents. Yet they let you buy a family membership via their website. We only found out this information when we went in with our kids to take a tour. It's so disappointing because based on their website, they should have everything our family is looking for. I'm another pre buyout member transitioned from when it was Pure. I work out 4 days per every week. Staff always super friendly but turnover unreal...somewhat telling. I cannot begin to count the number that have left over the last year. All new equipment is so crammed walk-arounds and getting to plate racks has no flow. There was no thought to equipment there before-change was done in a formula which resulted in losing some muscle-group specific machines that are now gone. Culture has really changed. Weights are all too often abandoned and left...never used to be that way at Pure and employees kept it tidy. Yesterday watched two employee trainers rearrange racks now blocking beam other trainers use for stretches. All but one rack no longer in alignment with mirrors so all clammer for the one that remains. What was once a great layout simply does not hold their 'make it like all the others' formula. Knowing what I pay I dont know how they have expanded membership so fast....it is always more crowded now and after 4, forget it. If Cap One bank next door hadn't closed their doors yielding more parking I cant imagine what parking will be like once the building is re-purposed. I could continue to whine about the things that were better at Pure that are no more but I think the overall mistake is trying to cram the place so its like every other LT when its space and square footage is clearly not an LT model. Sadly if I had a another close alternative I would leave. If I didnt like the staff so much it would be a 2 star review. read more
