    a lobster sandwich

Big Y is a great market for many things. First of all, their blueberry muffins are the best. They are fresh and delicious from the bakery section. I also like their fresh made croissants and rolls. Go early in the day or they might be all gone. Right by the bakery, Big Y sells coffee. For 99 cents it is self serve and convenient. I've tried their clam chowder and it's not bad. Their lobster rolls are okay in a pinch. Their deli has excellent quality meats. Over Easter, their corned beef was the best I've ever had. Their oven toasted turkey breast is super clean and tastes great. I find their prices to be about average and the quality is on point. I only shop here when visiting from out of town. It is nice to know that I could grab some items and check out quickly. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

I've never seen it open and I remember years ago when it was installed wanting to try it....but it never opened up. I want this open which is why I come here to complain. I've also had issues many many time with things not ringing up the correct price. Was always having to go over to the customer service desk and wait for 10 people to play their lottery tickets before I could get my price adjustment. SOmetimes having to return things like ice cream cause they take too long. I want that self checkout so I can watch the prices like a hawk to make sure im not overcharged anymore. Let's get your act together shall we and get those self service "express" lanes open. Stop and shop in Danvers has 6 self service isles....and all 6 are in use at the same time. It's my new favorite store!

I waited at the meat/seafood department for about 10 to 15 minutes. Nobody was there so I walked up-and-down some miles, and finally found somebody with a uniform on. (He was some kind of assistant manager or something. It said on his tag or relief or night manager or something like that). He was polite but completely useless! He told me that the meat department closed within the last hour, which means sometime between 7:00 and 8:00 . I explained how I drove all the way here and he said , i'm sorry , but there's nothing I can do. I asked him why the store is advertising products that are not available. And why departments close prior to the store closing. And he told me, that's just how it is, and he was sorry. I told them there should be signs out front or in the flyer that say this or it should be online. I'm pretty aggravated to drive this far with the intentions of getting a couple of particular things. Especially because I literally drove past Stop & Shop and market basket, but next time I will certainly stop at 1 of those instead of Shaw's. If you look at my history, I'm not one to leave bad reviews. In fact, I usually leave good ones for everyone, because nobody ever has anything good to say. This is super super aggravating , and now i'm forrest at this time of night with my family at home to go and get takeout and spend extra money and i'm pretty p*ss*d about that.

Owen approached us after noticing our confused and puzzled looks while in the chicken section. We wanted to buy a whole chicken (in retrospect a huge undertaking for two novices). We literally had no idea what we were looking at/for. We would pick up a package, try and gather as much information as we could from reading the label, and put it back down. We did this a few times before Owen came to our rescue. Not only did Owen share with us his impressive knowledge of the best whole chicken to purchase, he even offered to spatchcock the chicken for us (a free service I had no idea Whole Foods did for already packaged non in-store products). It was not a surprise that Owen did an amazing job with our chicken and packaged it immaculately. He even included the chicken scraps and bones, wrapped separately. Owen left a huge impression on us and we look forward to seeing his cheerful demeanor and helpful attitude every time we visit this Whole Foods location. He is also polite and a great conversationalist! Time and time again, Owen goes above and beyond what he is expected to do. Keep up the excellent attitude and work ethic, Owen! The last time I visited the butchers, I heard from Owen that he is planning to go back to school and cut down to part time work. I sincerely hope the best for him and in all his future endeavors! Besides our great experience at the butchers, this Whole Foods location is solid. It can get pretty busy sometimes on the weekends and in the middle of the day during the weekdays, but it's clean and decently big in here so I don't mind the crowding as much. We constantly purchase our produce from here and they are young, fresh and last a while in our fridge. There are no floral staff members to wrap flowers you purchase here though (I've never seen anyone behind the flower counter). They also do not have any Whole Foods brand fresh bread or a bread slicing machine here. They do carry bread packaged from other brands here though. The Whole Foods cafe (for the brown butter cookie lattes) seems to be closed indefinitely.
