Tray with 20 pieces of their European dessert pieces, tasty

I've been going to Henry's for the 32 years I've lived in Beverly. I consider it to be a reliable place to get quality food. It's expensive, and usually worth it. Especially great are their premade foods by the deli counter. Their different types of chicken salad is a favorite of my husbands. Their cookies are decent, especially the butter crunch. Their house made chicken pot pie is very popular with so many people, I have brought it to friends when they are home sick and I don't want to cook. No one is disappointed with that. They make all their food in-house. So good. Their desserts are quite good. Recently had a small event and didn't feel like cooking. I supplemented with a gallon of their hearty vegetable soup, and their little desserts. The veggie soup was just too healthy to be popular with this crowd, so that was a bad choice on my part. The desserts were a bit hit. They have flowers, cute paper goods, great house made hamburgers, we go there often. Never disappointing, but much more expensive than Shaws or Market Basket. Having said that, we feel it is worth it.

My coworkers introduced me to this local market with a full salad bar, prepared meals, bakery, and more! Everyone working there has been friendly and more than willing to help. Prices are reasonable and produce is fresh. Sandwiches are made right in front of you and can be customized to your liking. The spinach and mushroom risotto was better than I expected. I have yet to try most of their baked goods but their donut holes were soft and yummy! I look forward to becoming a regular and supporting another local business.

    Cream-filled powdered donut ($1, December 2017)

~5pm on a Friday, a few people in line at the registers. Pros: -Very nicely kept up market with tons of selection of local goods and a fantastic array of freshly-baked bakery items -Nice staff -Great donut prices ($1 each!) Cons: -Limited donut selection at 5PM -- Cream-filled Powdered Donut ($1) Given the super limited selection at 5pm, I took a chance on this donut hoping it was filled with a light Bavarian cream, but unfortunately it was thick frosting (like Krispy Kreme's filling). Definitely something others would enjoy, but way too sweet for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the dough was still incredibly fresh, even so late in the day! Had this been a plain glazed donut or a Bavarian cream filled donut, this would have been stellar. While I don't recommend this particular donut, I definitely recommend Henry's bakery, ideally earlier in the day! If I'm ever back in this area earlier than 5pm, I'm going to make a beeline to Henry's and hope for a larger donut selection!

How was this bone not caught during their quality control/assembly process? I sent this via email on February 17th. They never responded.

wouldn't recommend. overpriced and quality is not what you'd expect from a local small bakery/grocer (in a bad way).

Of course they're not huge like Kappy's but that means there's a focus on quality instead of filling shelf space with cheap booze. If you're buying from these guys you're going in for something good to enjoy - not just something to exclusively get hammered with "on the cheap". The store is clean, organized & upbeat. Sometimes liquor stores can be dirty, dark, seedy, unkempt, uncomfortable....Depot is not like that at all & the staff is friendly & helpful. I'm sure they know I'm a nerdy lightweight (my exclusive purchase is hard cider, so right there you know I'm not super "experienced" - ha ha) ---but they've always made solid recommendations & never made me feel "stupid" for not being familiar with certain items. They've always been open to researching things if you ask & carrying them. Great variety too! Great vibes. Great stuff. Fair pricing. And their sandwich board signs out front are clever & hilarious. Liquor store with good stuff, wit & personality? Sold. Also----they were a highly recommended mention on WBZ's Conisseur's Corner with Jordan Rich for having a SOLID & **EXCELLENT** choice of craft beers on the North Shore. That says something. Please stay away from the Woodchuck Cider. It's mine. :)

In fact everything is pretty close to Amazon, and in the case of glassware- cheaper. (and safer.) The 1gal jars I use for kombucha are under $7 each. Making a case $28. I paid $20 on Amazon for 2 booch jars. Glass 1gal carboys are also just under $7. You have to buy a growler cap for them separately. Or just get a universal bung. No price tag was evident so I brought it up to the register. The woman scanned it said, $31.99, which is still above list but not too bad so I bought it. I had been searching for some harder-to-find bourbons when I found them online at Lighthouse. I called, confirmed the product availability, and inquired about pricing. As a first time customer, this immediate accommodation was only that much more impressive. I just wanted to say 'thank you' for making things right and for earning my business moving forward. The store and its bourbon & rye selections are exceptional and a real asset to the North Shore. Thank you again!
