Completely disrespectful general manager. My brother and I came here after bijou falsely advertised Nicky jams after party. We came here expecting him to perform or at the least attend, but unfortunately none of that happened. I am a hospitality major at Boston university and my introductory classes taught me more about customer service than this gm knew. When I asked her why the club advertised a performance by Nicky jam and deliver to she responded "we don't do refunds". The situation could have been completely understandable had she responded differently. Coming from a hospitality background, I have expectations in relation to the way customers are treated that this gm simply failed to meet, especially considering we paid $40 for a place that mimics many of the free entry high-end clubs in Boston. All I have to say is call for information and get direct confirmations on upcoming performances before buying tickets to this club, because if you're willing to pay $40 for a night out in Boston there are much better DJs, drink prices and hospitality in other places. I honestly hate giving bad reviews but I wouldn't want someone to be in the same situation my friends and I were in tonight. Management here is shady and shouldn't get away with these false marketing schemes or disrespect of customers. I've been to Bijou twice and both times were a disappointment for me. I'm not a huge fan of house music, although my friends are. The second time I went there was in January and it was exciting only because I got a few discounts/ free stuff so let me tell you about that. My friends and I had tried to go to a couple of bars in Boston but they wouldn't accept my ID (apparently a MASSACHUSETTS STATE ISSUED ID is not a valid form of ID to get into bars in Haymarket!! THE DMV IS SUCH A SCAM! sigh...) So we were quite frustrated and decided to go to Bijou (because somehow clubs in Boston accept any ID..so weird, but I'm not complaining). We entered the club all frustrated that we were going to have to pay a ton of money on a Saturday night, after already going clubbing the night before. My friend was talking about our frustrating night while we were paying our cover and the lady said she would let us in for $15 instead of $20 or $25 or however much it is! That pretty much made my night because I'm not a huge fan of Bijou. The club is pretty cool because the crowd is really international and pretty young (college students/ young working professionals), but I'm not crazy about the music. Apparently they have really good DJ's so if you're into that kind of music you might like this place. The night that I was there they had like 6 DJs up on the stage which is elevated pretty high and the DJ's look like they're having a really good time so that definitely adds to the experience. I wish they had a bigger dance floor though. There are tables all around and if you want to dance you're either way up in the front where it's super loud or you're encroaching on someones private table space. If you go to Bijou it's better to have a table rather than just wander in like we did. The table hostesses seem really grumpy all the time which is annoying, but the bartenders are really nice. My friend and I got a free drink that night...another one of the highlights of my night at Bijou because drinks there are super expensive.. Overall, it was not a great experience at all... If getting a couple of discounts/ free stuff is the highlight of a night out then it's a pretty sad night. read more

Visiting Boston from Miami, and went here Saturday night. I came under the impression that Boston was not big into club culture, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Tiga was performing. Really good sound system. I felt like I was back in Miami (for nightlife this is a good thing). Major downside was that the place closes at 2am but that isn't the clubs fault. Not the biggest fan of the clubs in Boston, Bijou is one of the more fun alternatives at hand. What this place truly gets a4-star for is the consistently fun music. The DJ is always on point and despite the mess that may unwind on the club floor, the vibe is fun and on the frontlines of the house music scene. There are two separate levels. It seems that one is always overcrowded with seemingly underaged Boston college kids while the other one has a slighly more refined clientele, comprising mostly the Euro and Middle Eastern seniors/ bschoolers who drop down on table service. While not the trendiest decor or chicest crowd, as far as Boston clubs go, Bijou is definitely on top of the list and guarantees a fun night out! read more

As absurd as it sounds, Bijou and other nightclubs in Boston makes me want to get on a plane to the nearest outdoor festival and call it a day. The place is super cramped and once it gets crowded the whole venue becomes a sweatbox. The door people were really friendly though and it's nice inside before it gets super cramped. Attempted to come here with a group of nine girls for my friend's bachelorette on Saturday night. The bouncer was extremely rude for absolutely no reason. It was very obvious that he's a loser in real life who enjoys the power trip he gets to be on in his position at work. Bijou completely screwed me and my friend over. We bought tickets in advance for NYE and they didn't let us in. They oversold the tickets and had us wait for 1.5 hours in the cold and rain before telling us we weren't getting in. This was after they had said that everyone who had bought a ticket would get in. They completely ruined out NYE. Also, they took over two weeks to give us a refund and weren't proactive about returning our money at all. We had to contact them multiple times before it was returned, and then even after they promised it to us it still took them over a week to complete that simple task. I went to Bijou for the first time last night (Sept 28 '12). I had somewhat heard of the club before, but only decided to go to see this specific DJ (Nicole Moudaber) as I am a big fan of hers. Tickets were $25 which I was willing to pay because she's that good! We got there 'early'.. 9:50pm to avoid any long lines in the rain, and were let in a little after 10. I did not notice the other floors people spoke of in previous reviews- we were directed up 2 flights of stairs to a medium sized room with big ball lights that changed colors, and a cool (and very expensive..$150 to $3,000 haha- obvs) table service in the middle of the room. We opted to hang out a table further back next to the bar (for free) until the place packed up a bit, then made it toward the dance floor. If the place was completely packed out I could see it being hard to dance and move, but there was just the right amount of people to create a good vibe. The sound system was great and so was music. The only thing is you can't really see the DJ unless you stand back a bit. I had a few Jack and Cokes at $13 a piece, pricey but strong so no complaints there. All in all we had an awesome time, but I'd have to go back on a typical night to get the full effect. I do look forward to checking out their future DJ bookings because they have great taste in tunes! read more

Paid $89 for New Year's Eve tickets, waited in line in the pouring rain for 2 hours and then after midnight they told us they were not letting any more people in all night. So they actually denied letting in about 100 people that bought tickets ahead of time on Tablelist. The bouncers were nice for the most part but whatever in the system bottlenecked the line totally ruined the night for everyone there. This place is new and I guess it's not going to last long. I have been in Boston's party scene for more than 4 years and know that the competition is fierce. The main reason is this bouncer named Cyrus who has a serious ego problem and treats ppl like scum. I tried emailing the management complaining about his treatment of me and my friends and they simply sided with him and offered no apology whatsoever. After writing this review the director of operation emailed me telling me that their "success" doesn't depend on yelp! This is exactly the attitude that will take this place down, namely poor and unprofesional management that doesn't care about their customers. I definitely won't go there again and will make sure to tell all my friends not to. Bijou is literally the worst club in the city of Boston and Boston Metro area proper. I have attended Bijou about six times within the last few years, five times for clubbing, and once for an after work drink mixer. The only positive experience that I have had with this establishment was during the after work drink mixer. I would say that the only positives are the music/DJ quality and the atmosphere. Besides that every time I have attended this establishment--it was far from packed and the male to female ratio was egregiously poor. I knew all of this prior to my experience going into the club on 5/7/2016 which annoyed me to the point of sounding the alarm and letting Boston locals and tourists, respectively know what they're dealing with should they decide to patronize this club. For people unfamiliar with nightlife in the City of Boston, Boston is far from New York City or Miami in terms of nightlife. I grew up in the greater New York City area so I am accustomed to extreme pretentiousness and club drama. To touch more about the City Of Boston, all clubs have to be closed by 2:00 AM, all public transportation shuts down by 12:30 AM, the liquor laws are super extreme due to the Puritan history of Boston which can be seen in extreme ID rules at sporting events and liquor stores, as well as "no contact" strip clubs. My point being, Boston is anything but a top notch city for clubbing and nightlife. Bijou prides itself and try's to present itself as a club located on South Beach. Bijou is one of the more expensive clubs in Boston, charging $30 covers, $15 for mixed drinks, $5 for coat check, and $700 for bottle service. None of which is the issue with Bijou because no matter where you go, clubbing it is often times priced at a luxury for the experience. The experience one is paying for is mediocre at best and the staff who works at the club makes the experience disrespectfully poor. So on to my experience from last night: One of my friends was celebrating his birthday and purchased a table. Me and four other friends (3 guys and 2 girls) showed up later and we found no line at the club. The first bouncer said what are we here for? I went onto explain that we were here for my friends birthday and he got a table. Next he explained to me that my friend already walked in with five other people and we would need to get him to add another bottle to the table to get us in which would run us about $150 or roughly the same thing as all five us paying cover. I said ok sounds good. The same gentlemen told me I would have to call my friend to come down which I did. He came down and they would not let him down and then the bouncer told me I would have to call him again and get him to tell one guy to let him through so he can talk to another guy who would need to talk to another guy. Moving on, over thirty minutes elapsed and we were still in the same situation with my friend having his Birthday night ruined because of all of the games and us no closer to being let into the club. Meanwhile while all of this was going on, a group of two girls rolled up and were let in immediately, a couple male friends of the bouncer were let immediately in, and an entire entourage who purchased an entire VIP section were let in. I walked to the front to see if I can see my friend through the door while more bouncers are telling me to get in line. I had it and snapped and said this if f******* ridiculous, this is not how you treat patrons to your club! It should not be a privilege to spend our money and purchase a bottle at your club! After I made a scene, they prepared to let me in and I said no F*** this club! How long does it take and how many people do we need to talk to for the privilege of spending money at your club? Additionally, how many Bijou bouncer/promoters does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Apparently like 8. Their lack of professionalism is astounding and spending one's money here is better spent elsewhere. Bijou costs way too much to spend one's money on such a poor experience due to the incompetency of the staff. That being said, I do not believe that the staff is truly incompetent, I believe their entire goal is to piss off their patrons being that when I made a scene they were finally willing to let us in. At that point I was past it and I hope my friend understands because I cannot rationalize giving my business to an establishment so unprofessional and annoying, giving that the experience inside the club on a given night is only mediocre at best. One is much better off patronizing a club that knows how to treat patrons with respect. Venue, Monroe Lounge, Candy Bar, Cure, amongst others are all much better options. read more

I seldom say this, and I don't like histrionics but seriously, the way that I was treated last night at Bijou night club made it clear just what kind of clientele that place attracts. The worst place that has ever EXISTED. The staff at Bijou is homophobic and racist. I got a table for my friends birthday, and got a call from one of my firends that they were giving her problems at the door. When I went downstairs they were not letting one of my gay friends in, and said his ID was "Fake." He's 25. He looks 25. They kept saying there was a problem with only HIS ID (but my others friends were okay). I started arguing with the bouncers, and finally the owner came out. His bouncers began to PUSH ME (first of all, theyre 220 lbs pushing WOMEN)--the owner then came out and said that HE'S trying to RUN A BUSINESS AND TO LEAVE. I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE been treated so poorly by staff in my life. As someone who spends thousands of dollars at this establishment, I am SHOCKED that they get away with this. This place is a ZERO star!! Don't go! I have been to Bijou twice, the first time the music was fine, DJ was good, cover fee was expensive but very few ppl so we left for another one. I went last night again, it was horrible. They put you in 2 lines, one line for promoter's friends and sluts...which was nothing surprising for nightclubs. However, we waited in line for 30mins, just to see they keep letting "friends" or the girls who's willing to snuggle and show the promoter boobs in. This is the worst clubbing experience I have had in Boston, it seems like at Bijou, either you have to give money, show ur boob, speak Spanish, be a bitch, otherwise you won't be able to get into this club ever. read more

The venue itself is great and whoever handles bookings is amazing because the talent they bring in is excellent. Their security staff... they could use a little training. I bought a ticket in advance to see a show. At one point I went outside to the designated smoking area to grab a smoke. During that smoke break a security guy asked if I had a stamp. I did not. Why? Because one wasn't offered as I went out and the smoking area was cordoned off so that only people who had been in the club could access it. Upon my response the security person told me I had to leave the smoking area and escorted me out. I explained I had a ticket but he didn't care. Upon attempting to renter I was told my ticket had already been scanned (duh, when I first arrived) and that a ticket could only be scanned once. I was denied re-entry to the club which had happily accepted my $70 for two tickets when I bought them. read more

It was one of the most degrading experience of my life. Came at 10:30 with all my girls just to have a whole bunch of man scream at us about how they've reached capacity. At 10:30 pm they were only taking people with tables and telling the rest of us to leave and get off the sidewalk. Then once we moved off the line 20 min later they switch up saying only people on the guest list. I was furious. Eventually we were able to get in but the effort it took just made the night terrible. Me and my girls went there for her birthday. We had a VIP table, not only did we had to wait inline like everybody else. But when we asked why we had to wait since we had a table, the bouncer said "SO!" we still had to wait like everybody else. When my boyfriend saw that the bouncer was being really rude to me. He said the same thing that I said to the bouncer, that we had a table. Except this time he was over the top ignorant and he said, 'There are people that spend thousands more money than what we have spent.' Now this is in the beginning of the night. We haven't even gone into the club yet to even 'spend thousands.' He spoke to us as if we were broke and not important, even after we told him we have a VIP table for my best friends birthday party. And what is so messed about how we were so poorly treated, is that between me and my friends we spent a few thousand dollars at this club by the end of the night, never mind the fact that my best friend was overcharged $700. Which no one could explain. We called and left multiple messages and no one returned our phone calls. We had to take time off and actually go back to the club and spoke with Amanda who call the manager on his cell phone. Come to find out the bill we signed for is not the bill they presented us. Someone forged our signature. He apologized and said that he would take care of it and called us back by the end of the day, because he was on his way there and he was over an hour away. We never received a phone call from him. We just gave up after waiting an extra 3 days and contacted our credit card issuer (Chase) and disputed the charges.
