Summer's here so it's time to hit up the rooftop bars and enjoy the beautiful weather! Sky Lounge is located on the top floor of the Yotel Hotel. Once you get in, there's a small lounge area on the left and then a larger lounge area straight ahead where the bar is. They have small tables with couches and local artwork ond display. For their drinks, their mixed drinks are average, but they only had 3 beers on draft which was a disappointment. They do serve some bar food and snacks, but like the drinks they're overpriced. I've been here twice and there's usually a wait for the rooftop. Once on a Saturday I was quoted up to a 3 hour wait that was actually 45 minutes and on a Sunday it was a 15 minute wait. I put my name down and got a friendly text when my turn was up. The view is pretty good, but not the best since it's not by the water so it's mostly looking at the city and large apartment complexes. The rooftop is small with 4-5 tables, a TV, and some seats. It seems like they allow around 40 people in at a time. Overall, this a cool place to hang out with friends this summer! read more

Who doesn't love a Penthouse bar? After you enter Yotel, make a left to the elevators. Once inside, hit that shiny PF button and enjoy the ride. I like how it is set up like a lounge, where they have couches available for big and small groups. You can also just sit at the bar to grab a drink. There are also tables on the terrace, but it is not always open during the winter months. When the door is unlocked, it is worth checking out the view for a couple of minutes. The bartenders can be a bit hit-and-miss, depending on the night. I wouldn't take that personally. Just order your drink and focus on your company. They will come around like 15 minutes before closing and asking you to close your tabs. Supposedly their lobby bar stays open later than 11 PM, but my friends and I tried going then got turned away by the lobby bar as well. I have always had GIN CRAZE $14 (Beefeater gin, lemon, simple, raspberry puree). It is pretty solid. read more

Going to a rooftop bar while it's cold in Boston probably isn't the best idea, but the outside area was closed anyways. So technically it wasn't rooftop. The inside part of the bar was pretty cozy though so we were able to escape the cold. They had a couple of tables and a bar inside as well. If you check in on Yelp, they give you a free cheese and charcuterie board with the purchase of a bottle so I decided to get that which is a value of $26! Save that money! We also got the pork belly sliders, chicken satay skewers and lobster and corn flatbread. We had also ordered the ahi tuna taquitos, but the had failed to tell us that they didn't have anymore of it. It wasn't until we asked about 35 minutes later that they realized their mistake. They took off the flatbread from our bill which was nice of them. The service wasn't all that great since we couldn't find our waitress anywhere to ask her about the missing taquitos and we had to wait about 20 minutes to get our water refilled. And if you decide to use the Yelp offer, make sure you show it to them because they offer it but apparently don't know what it is. read more

The view from here is surprisingly terrible (unless maybe you actually make it out onto the actual roof deck). The roof deck is tiny and cramped, if you get out there at all. Cocktails cost as if they're been carefully crafted but don't compete with any spots that have their game down. The crowd is sort of Euro-hipster. Mostly 20s young, but with your occasional middle aged tourist. Although I've never been in a place with men with such perfect carefully styled hair that wasn't a gay bar. The interior is fun and the staff is friendly. read more

The whole experience was pleasant especially during the pandemic. Staff members were friendly and attentive. We chose a rooftop restaurant at Seaport hoping to catch a water view but there wasn't. The skyscraper view was decent though. Food was not that good except the Clam Chowder. If you're looking for a place to hang out for drinks, this could be a good place for that. As of August 2017, The Sky Lounge is the highest rooftop bar in Boston. Atop the new Yotel hotel in the Seaport district, it comes with a stunning view and great drinks. Just getting started on the Boston scene, there's already a line out the door to get in on the weekends. My drink, the Pier Pressure, was delicious with an excellent muddled blackberry, mint and cucumber combo. I'll be back if I can force my way through the lines! read more

I won't lie, I didn't have high expectations for the food, but both my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. We rolled the dice on the lobster tacos, since the description sounded too good to pass up, and came out aces. The lobster seemed fresh to me, was cooked properly, and went well with the spicy chilies and acidic aioli. We also ordered the al pastor nachos, which were honestly better than most bar nachos around. The service was a little slow, but thats because there only seemed to be two staff members, including the one guy mixing drinks. Aka - mgmt fault, not the pleasant servers. read more

I had a lovely drink at the Sky Lounge last night and enjoyed the two hours I spent there. They have plenty of couch seating so you can enjoy the view and be comfortable. The servers were friendly and came right over as we sat down. I had a pineapple, mint, and vodka cocktail which I highly recommend! Other drinks ordered at my table were a mojito and a beer which were both moderately priced and delicious. Unfortunately we had to stay inside the entire time because they closed the deck once it started to snow. The other downside to this place is the lack of parking. We circled the streets a couple times and just ended up parking in a garage. Absolutely give yourself enough time if you plan on street parking. I will definitely be back to experience the outdoor views. read more

Well...we gave it a shot. And it was a bad choice!! We ordered 1 cup of soup because of the mandate. And quickly ordered a cider since we sat outside and it was freezing. The ciders came fast, and as we sat freezing waiting for our single cup of soup we realized that the cider was alcohol free!!! What bartender allows you to order a alcohol free cider? The drink was located on the alcohol menu! WTF! It took almost 40 minutes for this soup to arrive and as we got the bill they also added 18% grat...18% for you to bring me alcohol free cider and a cup of soup. I would not recommend! read more

Nice location, with decent food selections to pair with your drinks. The service was hit or miss, but we were able to have someone who was attentive. The lobster flat bread, truffle popcorn, and pretzel are must haves. Seems like a good place for happy hours (not sure about specials). read more

Honestly this place should get 3 stars but I had to give a fourth for the view alone, because it's that beautiful. The drink list was all mixed drinks and I'm a martini girl, so I asked the bartender if he could make me one that's fruity. He unenthusiastically said he would make me whatever I want, but then when I asked for raspberry with a sugar rim he sarcastically asked if there was anything else he could do for me. How about lose the attitude? The end result was basically a cosmo, nothing special, but it cost $16 after tax. With tip I paid $20 for 2 ounces of stoli raspberry and a slash of purée! For those prices, the guest service should be phenomenal. I'm sure the attitude would be different if I was an older businessman instead of a woman in her 20's. The place was so beautiful and well decorated, but an entire section on the balcony was blocked off and it didn't look like a reservation or anything. The vibe was boring, everyone in suits just standing around. Subpar music no dancing no excitement - if I go to a rooftop bar I expect a party! I went for a birthday celebration with a group of 8. When we got there, we put our name on a list to go to the outdoor section of the rooftop. We spent about 45 minutes at the indoor bar waiting (the wait was fine and expected), but were unhappy with the bar tender service. It was incredibly slow to get a drink. The drinks, however, were delicious!! The spicy martini was the best. After 45 minutes, my phone rang (the host stand), but because of the loud music, I couldn't hear anything, so I hung up and immediately walked to the host stand. I got there no more than one minute after the call, and was yelled at by the man there, saying it was too late, he was ready to give our spots away. I explained I hung up because I couldn't hear him and walked over immediately, and he kept repeating "you have to have your phone on you or we give your spot away", despite me telling him having my phone on me was useless because I couldn't hear over the DJ. Finally, he agreed to give us back our spot, but his attitude was completely unnecessary. Out on the rooftop terrace, we ordered a bunch of plates to share, all of which were amazing. Overall, food and drinks were great, but the service was poor. It was a good experience, but the slow service and attitude of the staff made it somewhere I'm not sure I'd go again. read more

Do NOT go to this establishment. The bill did NOT show what I had purchased (not itemized) nor did it indicate an automatic 18% tip charge for two people and a 5% city tax plus an 6.25% meals tax. So for two beers (totaling $16 and a cup of mixed nuts $6.00 = $22.00.My bill came to $33.75 after all these taxes. We had to ask the server for napkins and glasses for our beers too. I already had low expectations for this roof deck bar. I had been another time before it was an horrible experience but this time they managed to do even worse. Let's start with the interior. The inside of the place looks like a hospital. Bland and uninteresting colors. This place literally will put you to sleep. The roof deck was no shade and no heating for those cold nights. The roof seating actually manages to look worse than the inside. If you want to burn during the day and freeze at night this is your spot. The manager and the bouncers were extremely rude and disrespectful to my party. Never have I had such a horrible experience and been treated with such disdain. My friend was rejected from our table on the empty roof because he happen to show up a few minutes late, we all know Boston traffic can be unpredictable. This spot is highly overrated and going here should be legally classified as a form of torture. The drinks are horrible and overpriced the service was very slow. Envoy, Legal and Whiskey priest are the only go to roof deck options in the Seaport, if your forced to go here you might as well go next door to shake shack grab a burger and call it a day. read more

So! Boston has like 3-4 rooftop bars. This is one of the newer ones and was yet to try. We had a party of 5. When you enter Yotel, make sure you walk past the concierge, and go to the elevator. Go all the way up and a host will greet you, ask for you ID, and take your name down. From there, you can get drinks at the bar, but you have to wait in the lodging area. Then they'll call you out to the bar. Unfortunately, the prioritize the guests, even if you waited your turn. They take more importance and leads to uncertain and longer wait times for you, if you're not a guest of the Yotel. We waited an hour and decided to leave. This is one of the rooftop bars that open later (2AM). Would I come back? Maybe on a weekday after work, if that's any better. I'd like to check it out. read more

Rooftop is terrible, by FAR the worst in Seaport. Hard to call it a rooftop, it apparently fits about 15 people and it's a tiny portion of the bar. They were "at capacity" and holding a massive line even though there were literally 4 tables open in sight. To make matters worse, my two friends were already on the rooftop, at a 4 person table, and when I tried to go to their table I was denied. No bar on the "rooftop" as well, you have to go inside for that. Considering in seaport you can go to Envoy or Legals for a rooftop, you'd be making a big mistake going here. Such a great spot! Came here after a rain storm so it was relatively quiet and kinda nice as we had the entire place to ourselves. Beautiful views of the city and so so pretty! Great cocktail list - we tried a couple of different cocktails and were pretty impressed. This would probably be a really great spot in the summer evenings but could get crowded! Horrible service. They close down the rooftop bar without any notice and leave customers waiting. Rude, expensive downright horrible.

Update: based on response from manager we came back tonight around 10:45 based on the open until 12 on yelp and google. Found out they are actually open until 11 and the manager Mike Letterman is unresponsive to updating hours and dealing with complaints according to multiple staff. There's a reason envoy's rooftop bar is more successful than this place. Why even bother guessing what their hours are here; just pop over to envoy since their hours are clear that they close at 11pm read more

This place really is as-pictured! Stunning views and clean, modern design. The cocktail I ordered was just ok with what tasted like frozen then thawed berries in it, but the view and atmosphere makes up for a mediocre drink. I'll stick to a classic cocktail next time and will definitely be back when it warms up to enjoy the view! read more

The view is not as good as the one on top of the envoy hotel and if it rains, the outside section is closed. For roof top section, I think the envoy hotel is better. But this place has indoor bars too and the drink menu and the drinks are pretty good. read more

This bar is way over rated even for 3 starts on here. We had to make reservations even with being patrons of the hotel it's on top of. The nachos were very good and I loved the fried plantains that were accompanied by it. For the cost of the drinks they were strong but lack luster. Handing someone a can and a glass for $10 drink was kinda shocking. We ordered more drinks and it didn't get any better, $17 for a tiny drink. The staff was nice but busy for not so many guest. We sat out on the terrace and it was freezing even with the heat lamps. And the table behind us was loud and complained about life the whole time, they were worse then the whole experience. We couldn't move our table and I couldn't have a conversation with my party because of how loud they were it was so distracting. This table of girls was so loud and so annoying it gave my husband a migraine and ruined the rest of my night. The more they drank the louder they got and we were social distanced. I know it's a bar but come on. It's supposed to a more intimate lounge. read more

management had my review removed from the YOTEL page since i didn't specifically review the sky lounge & rooftop terrace so here goes round two - my first visit to the rooftop bar at YOTEL was the first 83 degree day in boston. after nearly an hour of waiting in line, we were finally in. once we were seated, we still had to go to the bar inside to order drinks because our server failed to come by once in the two hours we were seated to check in on us. our only encounter with her was as she passed by us in line with the aggressive 'EXCUSE ME.' we were eventually greeted by a security guard who apologized for the lack of service and took our food order, shout out to her multitasking. nothing special about the cheese plate; some sliced cheddar and pepper jack served with dill relish and raspberry jam. thanks for the views, YOTEL. why don't you work harder on improving hospitality and service rather than wasting time having reviews removed. read more

I am so incredibly disappointed with the experience I had at this bar that I am posting this WHILE IN THE BAR waiting to close out my party's tab. We had over 25 people there for an event (we made reservations to reserve space) and were met with service from the bar manager that has left me in complete and total shock. I spent YEARS in the restaurant and hospitality industry and if I treated customers with even 1/10th of the disrespect I witnessed this evening I would have been terminated on the spot. No questions asked. This manager has no place in the services industry and I really feel bad for her team of bartender and servers. They were fantastic. Responsive, courteous, attentive and welcoming. THEY missed out on being part of our celebration and they have the shift manager to thank for that as we have since taken our celebration elsewhere. I've never been one to post about my experiences for anything online, but I needed to for this. When you're spending thousands of dollars to provide folks from out of town (who you work with every day) with a memorable experience, the last thing you want to encounter is a bar manager who has a complete disregard for your people. I warn anyone looking to entertain people at this establishment from staying away, unless you can get a commitment from them that the bar manager we had would be staying home that night. read more

Advice: go literally anywhere else. Worst managed upscale bar I've ever been to. Bartenders are incredibly slow. The entire appeal of a rooftop bar is that you can go out ON THE ROOFTOP. Absolutely terrible service. Asked for water and waited 15 minutes before going up to ask the bartender myself and carry the glasses back to our table. Server couldn't have cared less, bartender was obviously annoyed I was asking for water when the waitress should have taken care of it. Since there is NOT much competition for rooftop bars in Boston, this place is a 'hit' but if there were competition ie. other rooftops, this place would be over rated. I am going to share my experience from this past weekend, Saturday, 4/28/2018. I was not a guest at the hotel. We (me and boyfriend) entered the hotel and proceeded to go to the elevator to go to rooftop. There were (2) gentlemen there that said it was at capacity and we could put our name on a list and wait. I expected this, we waited around 10 minutes. We finally got a call saying we could go to the roof. We cuaht the elevator and went to the roof, they check our ID. There was a dj. The dj was good, playing a top 40's mix. The crowd was NOT the 20-23 year old crow. I think it was a young professional crowd .. 25 - 40. Everyone was dressed nicely. There were (3) bartenders, 1 girl and 2 guys. One guy sucked and had a very bad attitude. There was a menu with specialty drinks listed sitting on the bar, so I tried to order one and he had a nasty tone and said something along the lines of 'no more drinks' so I was confused as it was only 12 a.m. He said they stopped selling drinks at 11 p.m. I was very confused. He had a bad attitude. So I am writing this review to clear up the air. They stop selling speciaty drinks after 11 p.m. but the bar remains open. I order vodka soda with lime juice. It sucked. I ordered it from another bartender, it sucked from him to. So, my overall impression of the bartenders were, they suck. They are not that good. The second male bartender (large guy) was happy and had a good personality, his drink making skills are sub par. do not come here looking for delicious cocktails. Go there to see the sky line. The view is great from the roof. Also, not that there is a different capacity to go OUTSIDE to the roof. You may end up waiting to go to the rooftop bar (INDOOR) and then once you are on this floor, you may end up waiting to go outside to the actual rooftop. Be prepared to add your name to list too. we didn't wait long to go outside. The bar was filled with wasted cocktails, it was wet and dirty. There were no napkins on the bar. My overall impression of this bar/rooftop was - this place has one thing going for it, the rooftop itself. The bartenders are lazy and didn't ever clean the bar. they look upset being there and I really would encourage this hotel to get new bartenders. They need people who are passionate about what they do. The vibe on the roof top is nice, the view is great, there is seating. I would go back, but I would get my drinks from the lobby and bring them up because the bartenders on the rooftop were the least impressionable people I have ever met/seen to be working at such a hot spot on a Saturday. The ambiance and view was beautiful. My friends and I reserved a bubble to sit in on the rooftop, it was warm and spacious. The service was very poor, and plain rude. We were rushed to order our drinks and food and constantly reminded of our time limit. When our time was up they literally made us exit the bubble by making us pay outside our bubble (we were getting ready to leave anyway). The food was mediocre and served in to go boxes. All in all, not worth all the money for terrible service. read more
