SAT 6/20/2020 9 am…read moreWe jumped on my 1992 Electra glide for a ride to Kelly's Island to go see the Glacial Grooves (Which by the way are Very Cool). Somewhere above I-70 I started feeling thumping coming from the rear tire. We stopped at a rest area for me to discover that there are two golf ball size chunks of rubber missing from the center of the rear tire..OH SHIT !! Googled the nearest place to get a new tire ASAP. LIMA - HARLEY DAVIDSON dealership is 8 miles up the road...We can make it! We pulled in turned the radio off and went in for a tire. But of course the ONLY tire they said they had is a GANGSTER Whitewall. HUMMM go figure. the most expensive tire out there. $260 + installation. Said it will take an hour. WHATEVER, just put the damn thing on so I can get back on the road. 45 min later service mgr. Kyle comes out and says we have a problem. I say OK? He says follow me. On the way in he tells me that one of the caliper bolts is stripped out. OK when we get inside the tech (I have to call him that cause he is NO mechanic) had already drilled 1/2" deep into the bolt ???? NO head left for me to examine to see it was actually stripped. HUMMM. I was so pissed I just went back outside without saying anything other than: That I was an auto mechanic for 23 years and I know what's involved with removing a bolt. The TECH drilled so deep that he took 3/4 of the threads out of the caliper, then he brings it outside and says that the caliper needs to be replaced. I told him to put lock-tite on the threads and put my bike back together. After 4 hours of sitting in the parking lot, the bike is back together. Total out the door $565.15 !!! Now where it get interesting. Pulled out and my stereo won't even power on. Turned around. Asked where the fuse box is located. The TECH says that there is no fuse box, all wires to stereo are under the dashboard which he didn't mess with. Funny that just coincidentally the stereo quit working since it has been in your possession?? Right.... NO time to argue with this HACK TECH I got shit to see. Up the road we go with NO stereo. Went and seen everything we planned on for the day and started back home at 9 pm. About an hour into the return trip and I start hearing this pit, pit, pit noise coming from under my feet ??? Stopped and realized the HACK didn't even tighten my exhaust up all the way and now it's leaking. 200 miles later the damn thing is so loud I thought it fell off.. NO it's still bolted on at the saddle bags, but I can wiggle it at least an inch each direction. OH and it gets better. Monday I called 3 different Harley dealerships and asked if the rear caliper needs to come off a 92 Electra Glide in order to remove the rear tire. Buckman says YES. CinCity say they NEVER remove a caliper to pull a rear wheel. PowderKeg says most mechanics don't but some do ! AWESOME INFO. The HACK / OWNER didn't even need to take the caliper off, but destroyed it anyways. ALL FOR A BUCK!! Today I got a hold of Kyle at LIMA HARLEY and wanted answers. I asked why did the TECH start drilling out the bolt before I could examine it?? Why didn't the tech drive an allen socket into the torx head of the bolt and remove it, why didn't he try a hammer and chisel first or even an air hammer to break the bolt loose and remove by hand ??? He had no good answers. He then told me that the owner of the business ( TJ ) is the one that worked on my bike And why didn't I say something when I seen the damage to the bolt? I asked him how far would I have gotten by calling his TECH / Owner the HACK MECHANIC that he is to his face ??? I asked him why is it that your TECH / owner decided to use the last resort in bolt removal first ?? Well 2nd to last, last is a torch. He asked what can he do to make it right ? I told him to get a caliper and put it on and if you do that I will pay your price for replacing the wheel bearing that you claim are also bad. He said NO we won't be doing that. Long story short: AVOID THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF !!!!

At 11am I called to inquire about installation of a remote car starter that I bought myself and…read morethey said yes, we can do it, in fact bring it in today, so I set up an appointment for 1pm that same day. I dropped the vehicle and remote starter off at 12:55pm and gave them my cell phone number and they told me it would take about an hour and they would call me when its ready. After not hearing from them for 2 hours and since my home was an hour away and I was tired of just hanging out in town, I stopped back by their shop and they said they were just starting on it because they had 2 emergencies come in. What possible emergencies at an auto sound shop, I don't know, but anyhow I waited. Overall it took 3-1/2 hrs to get the 1 hour job done, but they did a good job and were friendly about it. They also charged me $50 over the quoted install price $285 total including labor, bypass module, and wiring harness, plus I bought the remote starter myself so I had a total of almost $400 in this experience, a lot more than their advertised $140 remote car starters - installed on the front of the shop. 3 stars averages out for friendly and good service, vs misleading pricing and putting 2 walk in customers in front of my scheduled appointment. I think thats a pretty fair review.
