    Recumbent Bicycle
    Forbidden F.

Purchased two recumbent bicycles from here after confirming they had them in stock (being a specialty item, most places typically only have one available or in some cases, none with the idea that an order would be placed). Thinking I'd walk in and walk out like one would typically do at a big box retailer, I was amazed to learn that this product is custom fitted for the rider (ie chain length, seat positioning, and accessory positioning). The staff are all highly knowledgeable with this product and provided the "white glove" treatment from start to finish. I was amazed at how much time was spent with each rider to ensure the best "fit" as well as the staff interaction - each making sure to introduce themselves throughout various steps of the customization process. Adjustments are made in house and accessories purchased were also attached. I highly recommend this establishment for their overall knowledge and professionalism when it comes to recumbent bikes and nearby trails to ride. These folks are top notch!

The young man and woman were so nice and helpful! Good prices and the equipment was well taken care of. I'm from out of town but I would definitely come back if I ever visit Fort Wayne again. The only thing was that the blue of the SUP I used rubbed off on my skin. Thankfully didn't show on my navy blue shorts.

Great time spent kayaking! Prices are very reasonable!! I went on my own and loved every minute of it! Will be going more once the city takes care of the water for it to be clear!

Had to write a review because both times I visited this retailer the service has been PHENOMENAL! Knowledgeable, patient, pleasant and down to earth. Whether you're a die hard biker/kayaker or whether you're new to these kinds of outdoor sports-this is the place to go. On my most recent visit I was returning a bike seat that I ended up not needing. I was 2 wks past the 30 day return period. I was all geared up for the usual sales associate that rigidly follows pointless policies but was so very pleasantly surprised when I was told that not only could I exchange it but despite exceeding the return period, I could get a full refund! This is exactly the kind of place I always want to give my business to: a place where employees are empowered to do the right thing and where customer service is a top priority. When you get a chance, check this place out! They also have clothing, natural products candles and more.

Kayaking fun up the st joe river.

We schedule a river kayaking trip starting at Riverside Garden on St Joe river. We parked at the park and walked to the public access across the street. The owner was there shortly with kayaks, life jackets and paddles. We decided to go up stream to see more nature. So beautiful!! Will do again!!

We had a blast kayaking the rivers from FWO. The staff was professional, showed us what to do, and gave us a run down on what we would see in either direction. Can't recommend renting kayaks from FWO more. You'll have a lot of fun.

We took the Captain Black's Canal Boat tour on 9/14. It was a beautiful day to be on the river. The Seabreeze launched fro Promenade park and it was easy on and easy off. Mark Meyer was our docent and mage the trip enjoyable and informative. I would highly recommend this to get a different prospective of our 3 rivers and the city's history.

I have a Specialize Allez that started popping spokes last spring. I took it to the Trailhouse for…read morerepair, and they suggested relacing. I'm okay with that, so I had them do the work. Here's my first complaint: When you drop something off for repair, they give you a card with their repair shop's number and YOU are expected to call them to see if the work's done. They don't really give you a solid estimate on WHEN it will be done, just something along the lines of, "Try in about a week". They will NEVER call you, even though they have your phone number, to inform you that the work is complete. Moving along, after two and a half weeks and me calling at least four times, they FINALLY had my wheel ready. I went in and picked it up. Of course, they didn't match the spoke wire (black) to the wire on the front wheel, but I suppose I can live with that. Also, the price wasn't terrible: $60 for parts and labor; $1/spoke wire, $1/spoke installation. However, I noticed when I got the bike home and took it for a test spin, the rear wheel was slightly out of true. Not bad, but I really thought they should have done a better job with it. I left it and rode through the summer, though not as much as I should have, putting only about 500 miles on it on the road. I put less than 250 on it this winter on a trainer. Fast forward to four weeks ago. I took the bike out and rode about 30 miles. On the way home, I heard ANOTHER spoke pop. Took it in to the Trailhouse again and asked if they could replace that spoke, re-true the wheel, and make sure everything else was ok. Finally, today, after about three weeks, (I STILL haven't received a call to let me know they're done with my wheel, mind you) I called them to see if the work was done. They told me it was and I could swing by and grab it any time. So, less than 10 minutes later, I stroll into the Tarkio shop (not in Winona Lake) and there's a bike mechanic PUTTING MY CASSETTE BACK ON. He told me they had to remove the cassette to put the new wire on. Totally understandable. But WHY is it just now being replaced?!?!?!? They had the thing for THREE WEEKS! Anyway, he finishes mounting the cassette, and gives the wheel a spin to see if it's true. He checked it BY EYE. While holding it IN HIS HANDS. It wasn't mounted on a frame and checked with an indicator. HE CHECKED MY ROAD BIKE WHEEL FOR TRUE BY EYE. I didn't say anything, assuming he MUST have checked it before he put the cassette on. Until I got it home... I mounted the wheel on my bike and gave it a quick spin, with the rear brake caliper open to remove/install the wheel...AND THE WHEEL STOPPED DEAD AFTER A QUARTER REVOLUTION. It was rubbing the brake pad on one side. With the caliper open. So, I pulled it past the sticking point and spun it again...and it stopped dead after another quarter revolution ON THE OTHER BRAKE PAD. So, I readjusted the centering on my brake caliper, closed it down, and tried again. Same results. My wheel is now nearly a quarter inch out of true. I'm going to take the bike in tomorrow to have them re-true that wheel. If they won't do it for free, considering it should have been done when they replaced the spoke, and if they won't do it right then, they will lose my business forever. And I'll recommend NO ONE every shop their again. It's ridiculous that 15 minutes of work, maximum, takes them three weeks, that they can't bother to actually DO the necessary work, AND that they can't be bother to call their customers when the work is finished. Who does business that way?

This place would have had a 5 star review before November when you could rent a cruiser for $5, but…read morenew ownership has put the cheapest bike rental up from $5 to $20!! Over 400% increase! That is insane. I would come up here about 10 times a year for only $50 now that would cost me $200 and I could buy a bike for that price. Jeers to the new owner making a profit on all of the locals and exploiting a local vacation spot for nearby out of towners. You will definitely see a decline of rentals. I know we will not be renting anymore from here. Absolutely absurd.

There are those companies that go above and beyond. Lincoln Avenue Cycling definitely went above…read moreand beyond for me. It's no secret that I'm a wheelchair user. It's also no secret that I do a lot of long-distance events. This past week, I did a 150-mile wheelchair ride for charity. As I wheeled into Rochester, Indiana I realized I'd gotten a flat tire because of the somewhat inconsistent surface along one part of the Nickel Plate Trail. Fortunately, I was at the end of my wheeling day and we began searching for a repair option. After a promising option fell through, we looked ahead to Goshen (my next city) and had Lincoln Avenue recommended to us. It's not uncommon for active wheelchair users to use bike shops for tire issues - while not every bike shop carries the right tires, it's generally accepted in the bike community. So, I had high hopes when I saw that Lincoln Avenue carried the Terra Trike (a recumbent bike). Lincoln Avenue absolutely delivered. They tend to prefer that wheelchair users contact them in advance to make sure they have the right parts, though they can also get them in a day or two when needed. I was fortunate that they had what I needed. We called in advance. We arrived. They worked on the wheelchair. They got me going and pretty much saved my charity ride or at least kept me from an undesired major delay. The staff was professional. The crew did the repair well and it held up for the rest of my ride and I was able to complete my event and return home safely. I always worry when I'm on the road in some of Indiana's smaller towns about a breakdown. It's great to know that there's an awesome bike shop like Lincoln Avenue in Northeastern Indiana. Goshen is a small college town and it's absolutely well-served by Lincoln Avenue. I was super happy and would easily return (hopefully for a non-emergency need!).
