Terribly disappointing! I had been a customer of bikes and beans many times while living in Boise so when I was relocating for the summer I was very happy to be shipping my mountain bike through Bikes and Beans. I had asked one of my previous times in there getting some coffee and bike accessories and estimate and it seemed very reasonable. One the day I brought my bike in to be shipped he told me I could put other things in the box so I purchased some additional accessories and I requested to ship those and my bike tools that were in a compression sack and I was happy because I thought my bike was in good hands. Though I was not happy there was an additional $100 shipping cost not discussed the previous conversation so I was shocked because it was never mentioned but I was over a barrel because I had no choice but to shop it all other's arrangements had been made. I was not happy about the additional charge but I thought as long as my bike is in good hands I'll let it go. Until it arrived. The box had gashes on both sides and there was rattling inside. Upon opening the box, I noticed the compression sack was open and some of the contents was loose on the bottom of the box and the items I had purchased from Bikes and Beans as well as some tools and my bike pump were gone apparently falling out through one of the gashes. I was in a very remote part of Utah and phone reception was sketchy so I emailed Bikes and Beans from the email on the receipt from the shipment. I never received a response, needless to say I was very disappointed on several levels, my bike being poorly packed, loosing most of my bike tools as well as the seat cover and other accessories I purchased in good faith assuming they would be packed with care and arrive safely. When I didn't hear back and since my contact options were limited I wrote it off as Bikes and Beans poor shipping standards and apparently to spite the excessive cost no insurance option and Bikes and Beans poor customer service. Then when I saw an Instagram post from another customer on how happy they were it brought to mind my ordeal and I posted that not everyone was happy with Bikes and Beans and why. They finally responded and said I should contact them with a contact number. However, before I could retrieve the information my post was deleted by Bikes and Beans. Needless to say it brought up my feelings of disappointment from the whole ordeal and how apparently it's easier for Bikes and Beans to ignore the situation and sweep in under the rug, so now I'm opting to bring up what I promised in the email that was so blatantly ignored, that I would post a honest review on Yelp about their poor business practices, I will file complaints with the BBB and Consumer Protection and with anyone and everyone I can think of until Bikes and Beans addresses my issues. read more

Amazing place, great people, great coffee, only place I'd take my bike to get worked on.

Bikes and Beans is a great establishment. I recently went there for a fundraiser for a non-profit organization and being a non-coffee drinker I ordered a drink anyway to help out a good cause. I was very impressed with the owner's ability to make a coffee that I enjoyed drinking. When I first walked in I saw bikes up on the walls and they have a small shop in the back, they work on bikes as you sip on your coffee or other drink. It is a good set up and warm atmosphere on a busy hub in Boise. I'm going to go back sometime just to buy coffee even though I don't enjoy coffee just to support this small business! Not one to write reviews unless a business or product is extreme (one way or the other). Bikes and Beans is extreme and has the best lattes that I've ever experienced! An amazing selection of beans combined with a variety of milks (i.e. hemp) in addition to remarkable baristas provide an incredible product that is unmatched. I do not have first hand experience with their bike business, but it seems to have high ratings also. I highly recommend B&B and encourage others to stop there and support a noteworthy local business - especially during this pandemic. read more

Had no expectations going into this new spot and I was pleasantly surprised by how cool it is! Literally a bike shop and coffee shop mixed into to one awesome place! Greeted right away by the southern belle barista and found out that the coffee shop is not messing around when it comes to there coffee. Felt like the barista was quite knowledgable about the variety of coffees offered here. Lots of seating for a group of friends to get together also couple of outside tables. New place in my neighborhood that combines specialty coffee with their love of cycling. In the front of the shop is the coffee bar where they will make you a pour over or a drink of your choosing. Unfortunately, they do not have decaf at this time, so I got a hot chocolate which was delicious as well. In the back of the shop is the bike area, which I didn't explore too much. They are dog and kid friendly. They even have a small.area in the back with kid toys and a couch for parents to relax in while their kids play. Everyone is super friendly here. Try it out! read more

I have a adult trike and needed to have an electric motor installed to help me get up hills. I am an amputee and lost my left leg to years ago. I loved riding my bike but it was a problem with just one working leg. I called all over the valley trying to find someone who could install an electric assist motor on my trike. This place is awesome! After an unfortunate derailer breakage on my bike, Andrew bent over backwards to fix my bike. He manufactured a stronger part specifically for my bike and made sure to get it done that same day because he knew my bike was my only source of transportation. I don't know many bike places that would do that for me, and none that would put in the effort to make sure my bike was sturdy and durable! Additionally, Andrew's bike shop is an amazing coffee shop as well! The interior is super cool and roomy, and they even have a record player. I took my bike to bikes and beans because I saw they won best bike shop of Boise 3 years running and figured what better place to go! I took my bike in for a fork swap and a rear shock upgrade. I had purchased a new fox fork and a new fox rear shock for my stump jumper. When I got there i met the owner and he told me about all of his suspension expertise and I instantly felt like I had taken my bike to the right place. I was told it should be a day or two unless they needed to order some hardware and in that case it would be a bit longer, totally understandable. While it had been about 3 weeks I gave them a call just to check in and they said they would look into where we were at with the hardware and they would give me a call back. No worries that's pretty normal, however another week went by and nothing, so I called again and was told the part was in and should be ready in a day or two but they would call me back that afternoon. Again no call back, so I called again a week later and was told the part was in and bike should be done within a day. A week later I called a fourth time and spoke to the owner Andrew who said the bushings had been put in my shock and it would be done by the end of the day and I'd get a call back.. you guessed it no call back. I called again the following day and asked what was up and why I haven't got a single call back and the person working apologized and said I'll put it in now and I went and got my bike that evening! Finally I was so excited to ride my bike with fresh suspension. I rode my bike from the north end to garden city and back and noticed that my front wheel had at least a quarter to half inch of play in it and felt completely unsafe to ride as well as my stem they installed being loose. I was so frustrated I took my bike to George's cycles and they took the wheel off and showed me the metal shavings from the wheel being loose and took care of me over night with a tight stem, a smooth spinning front wheel with no play in it like before. I was very disappointed with my experience from a small business like this. I hate to talk bad about a shop that seems so passionate about the sport but I did not have a good experience. read more

We stopped by one afternoon and had one of the best lattes ever! They had four specialty coffees and mine had the "Remera". I couldn't resist buying a whole bag so I can have it at home. This is the best coffee I've had in town. I've had a latte and a pour-over, both excellent. The barista knew the flavor profiles of so many coffees.
