I brought my Trek bike to Reed's for a tune up. They went through the entire bicycle, adjusted both derailleurs, replaced a worn out cable housing and the front brakes, trued both wheels as well as giving the bike a good decreasing / cleaning. Highly highly recommend- especially Eagle location! I have talked & worked with the owner & several employees over the last year & everyone has been patient, highly knowledgeable. As I have a rare disease, some days I can bicycle & other days it's a no-go... so I've appreciated how kind they are to me... with physical & communication challenges... & low bicycle knowledge. ‍ On the other hand- it's clear they would also do awesome with people who are pros- so whatever your level of bicycle knowledge- go to Reeds for one stop shopping & repair! Wandered into the Bogus Basin Rd location while out on a road ride. There were four young men standing near the counter/work area and all ignored me. I walked up to them, and they continued to ignore me and talk among themselves for a couple of minutes. I had to interrupt them to get their attention. I asked about a restroom, and one just pointed to the back. When I returned to the showroom, they again just talked amongst themselves even though I walked right up to the counter and looked right at them waiting to be acknowledged. I had to interrupt them again to ask about a Yeti model I was interested in getting a demo ride on. I got a short and to the point answer then they all just went back to their conversation. Wow. I got the hint and stopped bothering them. Maybe I'm spoiled. In the past I've been welcomed and treated like an old friend by all the local bike shops in the areas where I've lived. I could go there and hang out, shoot the breeze, even though the owners knew I did most all of my own maintenance and repairs. Was it my age (60+)? Was it because I was a "roadie" that day? I don't know, but it was rude. I've never been in a bike shop with so little personality. So little sense of customer service. Very un-friendly. I plan to replace my aging mountain bike with a new trail bike soon. Don't think my money is good here though. Last time I was in Meridian Cycles I got a warm welcome. Maybe they can get me a Yeti. Or maybe Yeti needs to know who are selling (or not selling) their products. read more

I went to Reed Cycle and purchased a Yeti ARC Hardtail (sight unseen). I previously owned a specialized fuse. I was looking for something lighter with a slightly narrower tire. Daniel Who works there was very helpful. He went online and pulled up the geometry comparisons between the two bikes. I was able to ascertain that the ARC was going to be way better than specialized (carbon fiber frame instead of aluminum and 2.6 inch wide tires instead of 3.0 inch wide tires in the specialized). Bike is light weight and extremely agile. I could not be happier with my purchase. After my first ride I determined that I would prefer a high-rise handlebar. Daniel made a recommendation, for a small difference in cost I was able to upgrade to a lighter weight bar and now I feel that the bike fits me perfectly because I have longer arms. I would recommend Reed cycle to anyone looking for service and great quality. Five stars all the way!! read more

I shopped around at both George's locations. Hands down preferred the small-business (call it mom'n'pop--in the BEST sense of that term) vibe and attitude at Reed's. Selection was smaller, but the listening-to-the-customer was better. Reed's guys came across like they really want to put people onto bicycles, and for their customers to have a great experience. The other shop guy seemed to be there more as a side-gig. At my price range (upper-middle end), the selection at Reed's was just fine, and I ended up with a terrific bike for me (post-purchase web research concurs). Also big--the frame I initially chose was a bit big for me. Just a couple days later, I went in and found that they had a smaller one in stock. Since I had put literally a half-mile on my purchase, they were VERY accommodating and happy to exchange for the smaller one....HUGE for me!! (They swapped wheels/tires, so the one going back in stock has the new ones and zero wear.) Also fab is that Reed's offers a ten percent discount on accessories, after a cycle purchase. Nifty!! These guys are awesome. Bought my kid a bike here last fall and the derailleur was giving my son some problems..brought it in and they said no problem, it's under warranty for a year! Rather than fixing the old one they put a brand new, upgraded derailleur and a brand new chain on, tuned it up and sent me out the door with it. Mixed review from me here as I live in Eagle and have used this shop several times. A few positive interactions with successful fixes. Prices seem a little high but I don't mind supporting small businesses. One interaction in particular I brought in my Dutch bike and was told they had no idea how to service those types of valves. It was a normal Schrader valve just with mudflats. Young guy needs a little more training. In any case I have not ruled them out yet. No one is perfect. read more

It wasn't until yesterday that I decided to go to Reed for the purchase of a new mountain bike. In this case, I was referred to their Boise location as they had the bike I was looking for in stock. I was initially greeted by Tucker who dropped what he was doing to spend time with me and answer all of my questions. Not once did I feel rushed. I took my bike into Reeds for a shifter repair recently. Absolutely impressed with their customer service, honesty and bike repair skills. The cost of the repair was minimal (which was awesome since with my shifter knowledge is nonexistent and they could have fixed/charged me for anything) and it was completed quickly. While looking around the shop I noticed that the bike accessories are priced noticeably less than another bike shop in Boise that I was in recently. Please do not bring your bike here. Poor workmanship. I have brought my husband's bike here now twice for a rear flat on his mountain bike. Each time Reed Cycle just replaced the inner tube but kept the object in the tire that gave it a flat in the first place. We will NOT be coming back even though I believe in promoting local businesses. read more

I had an old Peugeot px10 for 45 years and decided to completely restore it. Got the decals (in Australia) and paid 300 bucks for an amazing paint job (thanks John). It still needed to be tuned up and the only place I felt comfortable taking it was reeds. Needless to say they did a great job, took extra care storing the bike and making sure nothing happened to the paint job and tuned it up perfectly. Very happy. read more
