I booked these guys in to give my bike a service and was impressed with their professional service…read more They had three different options available (of which I chose the most basic and cheapest as I'm a recreational rider). When I returned to pick up my bike it had been cleaned and rode much better than it had been. I hadn't purchased my bike from the shop, but that didn't matter and the staff were flexible with the actual day I picked it up. Mt Eden Cycles also stock a range of bikes if you are looking at buying one. Check out their pretty flash website for all their latest info (they even organised bunch rides).

My boyfriend and I decided to recondition some old bikes as a small project and we came here for…read morepretty much everything we needed. We already had the old frames but they needed things like new tyres, chains, handlebars and tape etc etc. I love the selection of handlebar tape/grip that they have here, while it is a little expensive they have such a wide range of colours it was so fun to choose. The staff are really great, when we needed specific products they didn't just try to sell us the most expensive option they took us through and showed us the entire range and told us what would be most suited. We have had them completed for a while now but the other day my tyre went flat and I needed a new one so I went back and they sorted out a deal for me, I bought the tyre which they fitted and they gave me a free gear tune which was really great and only cost $40 all up. I love this bike shop I will always come here for my cycling needs.

This is "as good as it gets" for bike people. T. White is absolutely 'the man' when it comes…read moreputting together what is essentially the perfect shop for people who love riding their bikes and generally soaking in bicycle vibes. T. Whites Bikes is kind of divided into two sections. The first is loaded with high end bikes and bike accessories and apparel and the second sells second hand stuff. Both sections are worth a trawl. All the crap they have in their shop is absolute dynamite, and I can wile away hours just browsing around. What really makes T. Whites Bikes special though is the love they obviously have for cycling and the cycling community in Auckland.

A couple of years ago I went into T. White's bikes to ask some questions about getting something…read morefixed on my bike. Had my 4 year old son with me and the workers were cursing etc in front of him, and they were pretty rude so I decided not to go back. Last week however, I had to get 2 spokes replaced on the rear tyre of my bike so I dropped it off at T. White's because it was close to my work. All good dropping it off and the employee was relatively helpful, but then I received a text that my bike was fixed and the cost would be $60. Insane price for 2 spokes in my opinion. I came to pick up my bike the next day and a different employee was there arguing with another customer that the shop shouldn't have to replace some component that had broken on a bike that she had recently bought. The employee first ignored me and then looked at me in an unfriendly manner as if I shouldn't be in the shop so I had to explain to him that I was there to pick up my bike. I once talked to a Galapagos tortoise at the zoo that was more personable than this guy. After paying the exorbitant price for 2 spokes I asked for the receipt which he handed to me with a nice glob of grease on it. I know this is a bike repair shop but come on, get a rag! Even though my bike is fixed, I cannot recommend this business.

The employees said yes, no problems etc.. we even had all our bike bags/baggage with us in the shop. We even paid for the rags to be applied. Around a week into our trip (we had travelled all the way from Europe to do this trip btw) the spokes started to break one by one.. we went to multiple bike shops to fix it, and yet it kept happening.. We tried to contact them, even went to their shop in the end, and they wouldn't give any refunds. Even what we read in their policy, that it would be possible under our circumstances. Nothing. In fact they were rude to us. The bike trip only lasted 2 weeks, instead of 3 months as we planned. Very disappointed! Bike Barn/99 Bikes, should be ashamed! (You probably changed your name because of all the bad media spotlight you had, well deserved..) Our own old bikes here in Europe are way better!

The store attendant gave me thorough direction, answered my questions, and didn't try and force me into buying any of the Bike Barn bikes. He was courteous and clearly passionate about bikes!
