I travelled to Vancouver back in October. We wanted to rent two bikes to ride through Stanley Park. We were going to do a quick price comparison between a few local rental place. This was the first one we checked out. The shop owner gave us a discounted kids rate. We took 2 bikes out for 1.5 hour and they only charged us $21. The bikes worked great and were comfortable. Riding bikes around Stanley Park is one of our favorite things to do when we're in Vancouver. My husband and I wanted to try renting pedal-assist or e-bikes this time, so after doing some research online, we settled on renting from Bikes & Blades based on their reviews, location, and rates. My husband had sent them an email about a week or 2 in advance to make sure they would have the bikes we wanted at the day and time we were aiming to do our ride, and they assured us we'd be all set. When we came to pick up our bikes, there happened to be some very loud tree trimming going on right across the street from the bike shop, so it was hard to hear anyone. The staff were such good sports about it, they even taped signs to the front of their shirts apologizing for the noise (which wasn't even their fault!). Big thank you to Sofia who gave stellar customer service when we returned our bikes. We did a 3-hr bike rental on my husband's birthday and had the best day riding along the Seawall in Stanley Park, over Burrard Bridge, and into Kitsilano for lunch, and back! We'll definitely be renting bikes from them again, plus Vancouver has the best and safest bike lanes anywhere! read more

We typically walk Stanley Park and decided to bike it this time. We knew this area had tons of rental places, and this one had the best rates and was open later than the others (others close at 5, this one is 7). What I was so amazed about? We were in and out with everything in less than 5 minutes. I may have been 3 minutes. They were so fast, even when they had other people in there. Single bike $14 for 2h and comes with a bike lock and helmet. We did the whole thing in 2h but that is because we have been here before and didn't make a lot of stops. If you want to mozy and take a lot of pictures, plane for 3+. They folks working there also spoke Spanish. We will for sure be renting from here again next year! read more

Convenient and efficient spot to get a bike! It's near the entrance of Stanley Park, so it's perfect for getting straight to the bike lanes after walking it a little through Denman Street (GETS VERY BUSY ON THE WEEKEND!) They provided the (very used) helmet and bike lock, but they were out of baskets unfortunately. Staff were really nice and kind! Even adjusted my bike seat for me. Made sure I was comfortable before leaving the shop. KEEP IN MIND: They close at 7:30 PM! If you're looking for a rental for sunset or evening biking, you may want to consider their 24 hour option. read more

Beware, came here to rent a bike and they pushed us through the process to get our bikes and told us to pay when we returned. When we came back 1.5 hours later (I kept time with my iPhone) they said we left for 2.5 hours and wanted to charge us for that. They literally pushed us and wrote down a wrong time on purpose. Funny enough, they make you take a picture of the bike lock right before you leave the store. It was 1.5 hours. No idea how they could possibly get it wrong without being fraudulent given they have clocks everywhere and their entire business model is based off time. Shady. read more

I routed to a different bike shop but realized they were all the same price. Ended up going into this shop just cause I already started talking to the person outside. $7/hour for the first two hours (they do have 1.5 hours for 10.5). They took my ID and card number and said I can pay with a different card when I come back. Gave me my bike and helmet and told me the direction to Stanley park. I wish they had a map to say where all the cool spots to stop were. I would definitely rent ehre again as the bikes were really easy to use and very smooth. I did have a slight clicking sound on my bike but it didn't really bother me. read more

Not sure why we chose this place, it wasn't busy, their prices were comparable though. But why was Jo-E Bike rental down the street very busy? Firstly it was rated high by Trip Advisor. . And their staff cares! We walked in to Bikes and Blades and in a matter of 5mins they wheeled our bikes outside and left us. Whereas Jo- E bikes adjust seats, ensure the bike is perfect for the customer before they ride away. My rental had sticky hand grips, a kick stand that adjusted too low and leaned over to the point of tipping over, and gears that didn't shift properly. We were there on a Monday at about 2pm and it was total chaos. However, the guys doing the bikes were so calm, friendly, and helpful, as were the folks at the counter. We've been renting bikes from Bikes and Blades for a number of years. Service is great... the rental process is easy peasy after you've set up and acct. with them (repeat customer). One time we had a flat... called them and the had somebody with us to change out the tire all within the timeframe of 1 beer at a local pub. The location is great for hitting the bike trails in Stanley Park as well as False Creek, etc... read more

For seven dollars an hour it's a price you can't beat and the friendly staff helped us select our bikes. The bike helmets were cleaned frequently and the staff was readily available to help answer questions regarding which route we should take through the park. A friend and I visited Vancouver, BC, last week and were looking to rent bikes for a ride through Stanley Park. There were several bike rental places on Denman but we were lucky enough to choose Bikes and Blades. The bikes B & B have available for rent were all virtually brand spanking new and each bike rental came with a lock and a helmet. Oh yeah, and a bell. Which I, like a child of about five, chose to ring frequently and with unbridled glee during our long ride through the park. Aside from having a great selection of bikes, what really did it for us was the customer service. The folks who helped us out at Bikes and Blades were extremely nice and extremely friendly, adjusting our seats several times, making sure our helmets fit correctly, and just overall, treating everyone with good cheer and offering up big smiles. Our day of bike riding was a blast, made even better by helping to support an outstanding small business like Bikes and Blades. Definitely recommend. read more

One of the non-expensive bike shops near the downtown area of Vancouver. My boyfriend and a co-worker came here because the other bike rentals were priced at 13 an hour! and this place priced us at around 10 an hour, what a steal! The service was quick, friendly and the rental process was really easy and quick. They only charged us for an hour and even allowed some leeway time for us to get out and bike to our destination. Went around stanley park with these bikes, no issues - no problems! Thank you BnB for the rentals! Being a tourist with these bikes are a must - don't get ripped off at other places. Great Service! Cheaper than the big rivals (only $18 for 5hrs) yet only half a block further away from Stanley Park. Great, new or near new, bikes in a range of styles. Only downside was that they didn't have a bike small enough for my petite almost 6 year old. She made do with a tag-along with her dad though. Family of four kitted out with bikes and helmets for 5hrs for $77, not bad! We added $2 for a lock and should've paid another $2 for a basket as my bag got heavy after a few hours. Would've given 5 stars except the staff didn't show any knowledge of correct helmet fitting which is essential for safe riding. read more

Who was about to go rent some bikes from the place called spokes but we was handed a card for me person on the street saying $6 rentals per hour for bikes. Spokes had a long line so we said what the heck must go check out this place that was a block behind. We opted for a pair of Cruisers with a basket to hold are water and what not for the bike ride around Stanley Park. After getting out a good ways away from the shop I realize my seat kept falling and would not stay in place because of the clamp on the seat adjuster not being tightened. So I had to struggle around the island standing up pedaling for a good portion of the trip and messing up my experience of stanley park. When I got back to the shop I showed them the problem and they pretty much said oh that's too bad and pretty much Shrugged it off. Very poor customer service, don't go here, go to the more reputable store on the corner called spokes. read more

They insisted I try sitting on the bicycle to find out if the seat was at the right height. Since we were inside the store, I had no choice but to use the kickstand so as not to fall over. Surprise surprise, their cheap plastic kickstand immediately breaks, and they charge me $20 to replace it. If you go to this place, don't fall for this scam. read more

Best prices we found in Vancouver. Rented 2 bikes with locks and helmets at 10am, returned them at 4:30. $42 total. Other places were charging that or more PER BIKE! One thing to note, they are cash only. I didn't notice until I was returning the bikes, they said no problem and directed me to a nearby ATM. Walk right by the fancy expensive places and give these guys a shot. read more

The guys who work the store are really nice. There's a 2 hour rental minimum and it was about to close in exactly 2 hours. This girl thought that she was going to be overcharged by 5 minutes and made a stink when in fact, she couldn't tell time. Didn't apologize or anything but the guys kept their cool and were professional and kind. I would have been muttering some korean under my breath but not them! They have all kind of bikes and even some used rollerblades for sale. The only thing I could have wanted was more cushy seats for the tandem bikes. These guys have the best prices out of anyone for renting bikes at Stanely Park. The quality of the bikes is average, fine for the easy riding around the park and even if you're going off the paved trails. The staff is efficient and super friendly. We got a flat tire towards the end of our rental. I thought they might charge us for it, but instead they apologized and gave us a discount! Three of us came in first thing in the morning on a Tuesday and less than ten minutes later, we were off riding our bikes. The guy working there was very efficient and explained the deposit and got our bikes sized up quickly. Their prices are very reasonable as well. Bikes were comfortable (hybrid) and we had a great morning with them. I would rent from here again. read more

Okay cool I'm getting married on Saturday, I fell off the bike and came back within 30 min with my friend..they still made me pay for the full 1.5 hours. Great prices and friendly staff, discount for students on single bike rentals (10% off if I remember correctly). It's worth it to walk a block in from the pricier places to save some money. This place has the best prices for bike rentals: $5 an hour, or $20 for the day. Other shops, even ones nearby, charge $15 and hour and $45 a day. It's not far from Stanley Park, a great place to bike. And the bike was in great shape. It looked new. The employees were very nice, too. They also have a lot of stock. While others were already out of bikes on a recent sunny afternoon, this bike shop still had many bikes left. There's a minimum of two hours. You can commit to that, and if you use it longer, you pay the extra but never more than the daily rate. read more

I've rented twice at this place now and both times I was really happy with how efficient they were and SUCH a good deal. It's $4.75 an hour, 2 hours min, and $21 total for the whole day. This includes a bike lock, helmet, and a basket for your stuff. The guys there speak Spanish if needed, and are very friendly. Prices were reasonable, so no complaints in that regard. The particular bike I was given however, left something to be desired. It ran alright, but the tire tread was completely worn down. They asked me for my credit card info right away without explaining anything to me or letting me look at the prices and options. It's as if they only have time for you once you pay up, terrible customer service, and it's not as if there aren't a million other bike rentals around, so I don't understand why they had to act like that. I have been renting here for years. Friendly service and good price: cost is about 12 dollars to rent bike, helmet and basket for an hour (how long it took us to bike the entire Stanley park sea wall). This place is much smaller than the big bike rental place on the corner and is conveniently located right next to the sea wall. Bonus points for having adorably coloured cruiser bikes and clean looking helmets. FYI: They also take credit cards. read more

Wow. We rented 2 bikes with tag-a-longs today for our family of 4 (our children are 5 & 7). The service was fantastic and the staff were so gracious with our kids. The Chinese guy in white shirt behind the counter was so rude that I had to ask my credit card back and go to the different rentals. There are a slew of bike rental places near the corner of Denman and Robson... all the way down towards Stanley Park. And since we weren't looking for specialized bikes but just bikes that worked properly and that we could enjoy for a nice leisurely ride around Stanley Park, this place fit the bill. I don't think it was all that much different from any of the other bike shops. And so with bike, helmet, and lock included in the price (which was the lowest on the block), we chose to rent from here. No complaints. (The only inconvenience is that they only accept cash.) And we'd absolutely rent from here again without any reservations whatsoever. read more

This is the worst bike rental store ever!!!! I swear I will never go back to this shop again!!! I recommend you not to go there too. We rented 5 bikes from them to go in Stanley park and as we just went in the park, the gear of my nephews bike fell off, so we had to went back and get a new bike, and the whole waiting and going back and forth process took about an hour. And after we changed a new bike and everything we went for a ride in Stanley park. We came out and pay and the store manager wanted to charge us for the damage of the bike. And also the extra hour of the 5 bikes waiting time. The owner said the other people could have gone first, and leave a 9 year old by himself ???!!!! I don't know what the owner is thinking and he's very rude to the kids, keep saying my nephew broke the bike!!!! The kid is 9 years old and we held the bike to the entrance and 2,3 minutes after we start riding and the gear fell off. I suggest you all not to go to this store ever!!!!
