Do NOT buy an Acura or have it serviced at this location. They are completely incompetent and unprofessional. I called a week ahead of time to have my MDX serviced. After a 10 minute hold I finally got it scheduled for the following Thursday at 2. Pull into their service center and sit there for 20* minutes while people check their socials - finally another tech comes up and takes my info...there is no appointment on their books for me and it'll take at least 2 hours to get an oil change...on a Thursday morning...oh, and it wasn't the phone quoted price of $80 but would be a minimum of $120 Went right up the road to Take 5 - did a fantastic job and replaced a few filters all for less than this dealerships $120. I wish I could put zero stars. I'm a single mom and purchased a vehicle from this dealership. The loan was approved and I went on my way. I installed a radio/backup camera and fixed other things. Two weeks later they threaten to report it stolen if not returned in a few hours . Because I had not signed a teaching contract they said the loan didn't go through. Although I told them that I had cash after selling my home. I returned the car and they refused to reimburse me for the improvements. I'm a single mom and do foster care. We needed our money back. It's sad that this is how I was treated. I feel if I was a male, it would have been different. God takes care of me though. The day after I got the car it started making a horrible noise. This place cares about one thing and one thing only: having you sign on the dotted line so they can cut and run with as much money out of you as possible. There's a reason they don't provide so much as a 24 hour warranty, they'd be out of business. They couldn't care less about building a long term customer base. They will sell a car out from under you the day you are coming in to buy it after talking to them all day long about how you will be coming in. Be careful if buying a new car. MSRP isn't bad but then the add-on fees...oh boy the add-on fees. Of course they don't disclose this until you are ready to pay. Package this or that for "nitrogen in tires" and other useless crap that cost the dealer a few bucks. For you, they go for thousands added on to the cost of the car. Beware! Just to to another dealer, the Acura dealer in Asheville is very fair and limits the "add-on" fee rip-off gambit. You will pay less. read more

I bought a 2012 Acura MDX with the tech package here less than 3 weeks ago. Had a little over 68k miles. After signing papers and pulling out of the parking lot we realized the tech package didn't work. The voice command buttons on the steering wheel nor the Bluetooth function work. Less than 2 weeks of having it, it rained the first time. It started leaking around the center console by the sunroof. I called and a manager agreed to fix both issues. They looked at the Bluetooth issues and refused to cover costs. They were unable to diagnose the leak but refused to cover cost of this as well. After driving 4 hours to drop the car off and pick up, I've had it back less than 24 hours from the dealership and it is now leaking throughout the whole right side and front of the car. I called again this morning and spoke to a sale manager who refused to cover any costs. I would NOT recommend this dealership. These issues should have been found and addressed during a routine inspection before selling the vehicle. Now I haven't even had the car long enough to have a permanent tag and they are refusing to take blame for any issue. DO NOT BUY HERE. **update. Apple Tree Acura in Fletcher, NC diagnosed the leak in 30 minutes. They also found issues with the front rotors and brake pads and will be replacing the swaybar. These repairs will be approx $1,000 and do not address the water stains still present from the leak or the Bluetooth module. Spoke to sales manager Vince who states a thorough inspection DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH USED CARS on their lot since they are not "certified." State they are road tested and the fluid is checked. He said they sell cars "cheap and wouldn't be able to do so if they rebuilt every one." Apparently testing brakes and rotors is rebuilding a vehicle. DO NOT BUY HERE. GO ELSEWHERE. Worst customer service EVER. Called Acura Corporate who state they believe this business to have "shady business practices." I made a formal complaint against the dealership and will continue to do so. read more

Not much to be excited for. I bought a used vehicle at this dealership. It was a decent little car at first glance, but a quick review by a mechanic after the purchase revealed a failing head gasket and a bad rear main seal, two major motor issues one would not expect from the used car inventory of a new car dealership. The vehicle was sold as-is, and I declined an extended warranty. Hindsight is 20/20, I suppose. The salesman was pleasant, so I will give an extra star for that experience. However, I won't return. If you choose to do business with a Bill Gatton dealership, especially if you are in the market for a used vehicle, demand an inspection by an independent mechanic before your purchase. If they refuse, find another option. This car should have been sent to auction or repaired before being placed in inventory. Very disappointed since they should have known better. read more

Horrible experience with Bill Gatton. I bought my car In January on the 21st and had to take it back the same day because I got a check engine light before I even got out of Johnson City. They had the car until February 18th and still did not fix the issue with my vehicle. They told me if there were any other issues take it to Kia because they are not qualified to service it. They said this AFTER they had already taken it to Kia for diagnostic (twice) and then took it back from them to repair it themselves.. rather than letting Kia fix it.. which makes no sense. I tried today to see about trading it in/buying it back and putting me in something else because the sales rep (Chris) that sold me the car said if they couldn't fix it they'd put me in something else. However, after I expressed my disappointment to him, he never messaged me back or tried to reach back out in any way. Today, all they wanted to do was offer me 3k less than I financed and also offered to diagnose any more issues if I payed the diagnostic fee. I do not recommend you buy any used vehicle from this dealer. They will take your money and gladly put you in a car they likely know is not in good condition and will do nothing to make it right. If I could leave 0 stars I would have. Go to any other dealer! You likely would have better luck and be better off just getting your car from a junk yard than buying from this dealership. read more

I went to buy a car. It was used. According to all the books and the average sale price in our area, the car was over priced. Still, I took it to an independent mechanic. He found a leaking head gasket, a timing belt that needed replaced, and a steering gear leak. When I returned, I told the sales person and the sales manager. The sales person told me they were not going to budge on the price. The sales manager came over and said, " we do not have to budge on the price. In this market, someone will still come and pay full price for it." Even though they know it requires over $3000 worth of repairs, they do not tell the prospective customer. They sell it as is. Even if it were fixed, it is still overpriced. These people have no scruples. They are only in it for the almighty dollar. When a customer buys a used car and it has a problem, their attitude is, " we sell them as is. It is your problem now." Buy elsewhere or you will get taken by unscrupulous and immoral sales people. read more

Purchased the car from out-of-state. Dealership failed to assume responsibility for a "major" repair item not reported on their "Precision Crafted Inspection" report. When made aware of the rusted out and falling apart universal joints ( I sent the manager a video the day after we got home with the car) the "Management" team at Bill Gatton decided that the DAMAGE didn't warrant replacement or mentioning on the report. I am a very reasonable person who trusted the Bill Gatton crooks and simply asked them to split the cost of the repairs ($1400 repair split would be $700). Come on folks, it was a $18500 used car they bought at auction and I paid in full when I arrived at the dealership. Well where to start... I live in Chicago and called on a Tuesday about a vehicle they had there in stock and that also was available to purchase. That same day the sales lady "Stephanie" approve me over the phone. After been approve I gave her my debit card number so I can put down a deposit on the vehicle. The next day I called early in the morning telling Stephanie I will be there in a Saturday to pick up the vehicle. After about 2 hours after I had called her show calls to tell me the vehicle sold. Like how do you sell a vehicle that was already on hold for someone else. Plain and simple this people made me waste money on a plane tickets and they never ran my card thru to put a deposit on the car. Really disorganized!!! I requested to talk to a manager and Stephanie kept declining him/her the whole time. Like what kind of customer service is this?!?!? She pretty much told me they sold the car because I never told them I bought a plane ticket are you serious after I gave them permission to run the card thru and take a $500 deposit. Like what more do you want after I approve the deposit....... I don't know about the rest of the staff but the sales girl "Stephanie" is a very rude individual that like to hang up the phone on you while your talking she's a waste of time and so are all the managers there that can't even get on the phone to talk to a customer. When we walked in...NO ONE greated us, not even the receptionist...we should have walked out at that point but we went against our better judgement and were sold a lemon. We knew it needed a new timing belt and were prepared for that but when we took it for service the STEALERSHIP didn't even change the cabin air filter before they sold the car...not to mention the rear seal oil leak and air conditioning issues...NEVER buy a car from this place...not even a brand new car. If I had the time I would be picketing in front of their business! This family should be ashamed of the products they sell. California sucked for us but at least they have consumer protections...no hope for my wallet in this transaction. What a F-ing joke! I only gave 1 because of the Sales person being so nice. Found out that the two cars we bought less than a month ago were never serviced. My car is now getting a new engine put in it. I got to drive it for about 2 and 1/2 weeks. They never checked it for oil. I checked my wife's car the oil was so black the tires had two different size lug nuts on it. It took me 2 hrs to make her white seats white and they are leather. I'm Glade I detail cars. I really couldn't tell when we left the lot until I got a good light on them. I told the sales mean that they need breaks when I first looked at them. I assumed they would fix them. I had to fix them myself. I did go back to them and they served my wife's car. They are going to give us a full tank of gas but told me that they don't fill up used cars. I have never heard of that from a big dealership. I told the sales manager that I was out a 100$ to replace my engine all he said was that is way we sale the warranty. All because they don't know how to service a car. He told me that they get so many cars in that sometimes some of the cars get missed. I let him know that they knew for a week that we were getting the cars. We have them a deposit on both until we could get a check from the bank. He said nothing. Never buy a used car from Bill Gatton. Unless you get something's in writing. We were even trying to buy a 3rd car from them and they refused to give us any deal. We got that one from Johnson City Toyota and it was the best not only did we get a great deal. We got a full tank of gas detailed and a call to make sure that the cars were ok. After a week. Go there if you can.Found out that he front tires need to be replaced they are going to do that but with cheaper ones. I called back about my car to see about getting my $100 back at the lest since they did not service my car and that was the caused. I was promised a call back got nothing.I called back and was hung up on. The service people were nice and did what they could when I can back to get my wife's car taken car of because it was not serviced. I got the tires. But when I walked into sales it was like no one wanted to talk to me about my car. I told guy all he said was that is to bad. The sales manager that I was dealing with acted like he did not see me. This place is horrible. They sold us a used Lexus 350 in early February 2020 and at the end of the month when we had not received a permanent plate we called to inquiry why. Spoke to Corey and he stated "the girls in the back office had not completed the paperwork" and he then overnited us a new temporary tag. Another 30 days went on . . . same response and they sent a replacement temp tag. We then contacted our finance company to see if they had the title so we could attempt to go to the DMV to get a tag directly. They had not received it. The finance company ended up contact Bill Gatton Acura and they found out that Bill Gatton sold us a car that they did not have the title for. they tried to blame Covid-19 but we purchased this car way before the shut down. they continued to lie and evade. With out the finance company being involved we would never have had this resolved. After close to 4 months, and our insurance company stated that the coverage would be suspended as the VIN was not in the database, they ended up buying this car back from us but we lost big financially as our trade in was not given into consideration. So in the end we lost money and now have no vehicle. Be ware of this dealership. I expect when dealing with any sales person that the truth will be bent a bit but these people take the cake. I cannot say enough how horrible this situation was and how bad the General Manager, Used Car sales Manager and the office manager were during this. go somewhere else so avoid them!!! read more

Great customer service! I called this place as a last resort thinking it would be the most expensive, but I was wrong. They gave me the cheapest quote. They picked up my car from work and dropped it back off. If any unexpected repairs came up, they called me before they replaced it. They are very nice and informative.
