Bill installed the gas line to our fireplace. It required he go up above the garage and into the attic across the house to where the fireplace is. Bill and his assistant, Oscar, worked efficiently and with great care installing a gas fireplace. We, honestly, were very happy with how it all turned out! Bill is very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Bill Johnson for any water heater repair. He's very easy to communicate with via text or over the phone. He knows what he's doing!!! And he has all the right contacts to get things done right... We had an incident where our water heater was making a large boom sound and would rumble when we used hot water. I was able to take a video of the rumbling noise and sent it to him via text and he then advised me to call the company since we were still under warranty. He didn't want to waste our money with a visit if it was something that could be fixed by a simple phone call. Well, after I made the phone call it became apparent that we needed his expertise. He was able to see us the next day and call the right guys to be able to get the parts we needed without having to pay out of pocket; again, we are still under warranty, but the company wanted us to pay OOP first and then get reimbursed later. Whatever Bill did for us was awesome, nothing OOP and the part was replaced. Well that helped fix part of the problem, once the first part was replaced, he discovered that another part needed to be ordered and replaced. We made another call to the company for the parts we needed, Bill was able to get the part (again nothing OOP) and he came as soon as he received the part and finally we have a quiet and working water heater!!! Bill was referred to us by a friend and we couldn't have asked for better! Long story as short as possible: Our water main broke and, because we live on a private road, it was all ours to deal with! Calls to Gotelli, Gene Burch, Petersen, Benjamin Franklin, and American Leak led to estimates between $14,000 and $20,000 with everyone recommending we change out the entire line. Admittedly, it is a 50 year old galvanized pipe, but when we asked about addressing just the leak first and dealing with the bigger problem if and when we got to that bridge, no one really wanted to do that. I was just getting ready to bite the bullet when my friend told me about Bill. I called him, he was honest about how busy he was and that he was a one man company, and we scheduled a time for him to come out. He came listed to my story and then did what none of the other guys did..grabbed a shovel and dug a hole so that he could see what was going on. He found the leak, explained just about every possible scenario, and told us what we needed to do. (There are a lot of other parts and circumstances to this story that led to Bill not doing the actual work but he has called and texted and checked in every step of the way.) Bill is truly skilled in his trade and, as he explained to me, is just wanting to do a good job, give the customer what they want, and not in it for the "sell". I am fortunate to have Bill as a neighbor. As I was going for a walk with my son, we stopped and chatted with Bill. I asked for him to take a look at my hose bib (front yard spigot) that had a continuous leak and was growing some serious funk. He came down a short while later and was able to explain the problem and suggest an easy and inexpensive solution! (I had no idea that the various metals used in plumbing could be incompatible!) He had to saw the whole thing and put in a new, fresh spigot. I would have thought it would have been a few hundred dollars and several hours. RELIABLE, COMPETENT, HONEST, CLEAN, AND EASY TO WORK WITH. Great plumber and helpful! Last July my water heater stopped heating water. Two of the larger local plumbing companies recommended replacement, and their quotes were OUTRAGEOUS!...$2,900+ for a 40 gal. water heater, simply because it is located in a hallway closet in an upper level condo. Bill insisted on trying to fix the problem thermostat/igniter first, and he did so in about 1.5 hrs. He disassembled the igniter and soldered in a tiny little part onsite. My 26+ y/o water heater has worked great since then! Needless to say, we will be calling Bill first for all future plumbing issues.:-). read more

OK....it's official!!...Bill has earned his 5th star. Got the little notice from the City (Vallejo) that our water usage had tripled. Sure enough, with a quick call to Bill, we were able to calmly ferret out the broken pipe causing the problem. Bill came out because after we attempted and failed at replacing our own toilet, we knew we needed a professional. He answered promptly and said he could either come out the next morning (Friday) or sometime the next week. He arrived and was able to fix all the problems I was having. Best experience with a Plumber ever had. First he answered his phone. When he said he'd call me back, he did. He was professional and friendly from the start. In talking to him I found out he is active in the betterment of the local community (a plus). He had a busy schedule, but went out of his way to fit me in as I had time constraints. He quoted a price on the phone, and that was what I wound up paying. He did a great job, and even had to do a little extra work dismantling the mess I had made, and didn't charge extra for it. My Mom and I adore this man - he is skilled, professional, explains all the work to be done (in a way that doesn't make you feel like you're a dope) and ALWAYS gets the job done perfectly! He has installed my new O.A. Smith water heater, completely rebuilt my 3 Mansfield toilets (using Mansfield parts!) and most recently fixed a nasty leak from a Moen sink in our 3rd bath. I am one hard-a$$ critic when it comes to finding good contractors, plumbers, electricians, etc. I have a rule of thumb to get at least 3 bids when dealing with jobs over $1000 (if it's not a dire emergency that is). Why? Because I've gotten such different "estimates" for the same exact job(s) to be done in the past. From a water heater replacement, to a furnace replacement, to even painting contractors - - bids coming in "way" off from the others (varying by hundreds to thousands of dollars). Bill Johnson was one of the plumbers I called when my water heater was leaking from the top. I called 2-3 other plumbers as well. Bill was on vacation but returned my call (by text) within a short period of time, telling me when he'd be back, asking what the problem was, etc. (It was a holiday weekend so he didn't even need to do that, but he did). Long story short, I hired him to fix the w/h leak (as well as fixing the air gap/hose under the sink that was leaking). He was professional, honest, well spoken, clean cut, and he explained everything about the problem, had no problem answering my questions (or having me watch him work on the water heater). I have finally found a plumber I can happily say that I will use in the future. His pricing was extremely fair and his work was "OCD" perfect! I also love that with Bill being a one-man show, I won't have to worry about getting someone "new" or someone else coming out to do a job (like with bigger plumbing companies who send whoever is available that day).
