The vet hospital and staff were very helpful and friendly with all of our needs and more. They went above and beyond to get everything set up before we said our last goodbyes to her. Wicket had a real bad case of Osteosarcoma and she could hardly walk. She was in so much pain so we knew it was time, even our other dogs noticed as well. This place has all the right people - it is obvious that each person cares about my pets. They are kind to them, patient, and accommodating. When I have special requests or needs (like medications or things to be careful of) they are always mindful of it. Whenever I pick up my pets my pets are happy to see me but also don't look like they were sad to have been there. And my pets never resist going here, which says a lot. The facility is always clean, tidy, and safe for my pets. I appreciate that they let me see where my pet will be, so I can feel more comfortable about my pet's stay. Whenever I call, they are always happy to tell me the truth about how my pet is doing. And they give a very personalized report - so I can tell they are hands-on. (If you've ever done a Petsmart boarding, you know what the opposite of this is like.) One time my pet had a medical need arise (which wasn't a surprise to me because of my pet's medical situation). They notified me immediately and offered to take my pet to their adjacent veterinary office to be seen immediately. I declined, but appreciated their attentiveness and care. The receptionist began collecting my information to create patient charts, discussed scheduling appointments for June, and was in the process of preparing the required $40 per pet appointment hold fee when the call was disconnected. When I called back later, a different receptionist informed me that the clinic was not accepting new patients and that I would not be able to establish care there. When I explained that another staff member had literally begun the intake process and was preparing to collect payment for appointments, I was simply told, "I don't know, but we're not taking new patients." The complete lack of communication and consistency was incredibly frustrating. Based on the glowing reviews, I expected a much more professional and organized experience. While I cannot speak to the quality of the veterinary care itself, the customer service and handling of front-office communication left a very poor first impression.

This most recent time, we took our dog in because we couldn't get an appointment at our regular vet. They had the same day regular appointment. Our dogs face had swollen instantly. We weren't sure if it was a snake bite or a bug bite. Or something with salivary gland. First and foremost, the girl at the desk was quite rude. Not the type of person you would want on your front lines of customer service. They did all the proper steps except for not doing a blood smear test to test for venom. The doctor kept saying this is what she thought it was, but she was not doing the test to see if there was venom. She did do an aspiration test. Which had to get sent out so we waited for that. But unlike most vets who would treat that procedure as surgical and shave the area in which they are extracting from. They just chose to stick the needle in and extract. In the meantime, she recommended overnight hospitalization and doing the anti-venom treatment. The anti-venom treatment is not cheap, plus they wanted to charge us almost $1000 to hold her in a facility overnight, where there was no staff. The specific line item for staff was $500. And there was no one there overnight only one check in at midnight. This is robbery. There are really great options in the area, but this is not it. I've learned from one of the other vets in the area that the number one mission for a veterinarian is to be of service. That is not this place. We see so much price gouging from various businesses like this. There are much better options in terms of customer service, fairness of pricing and treatment recommendations, and professionalism. I went and got a second opinion and then saw my regular vet. It's also nice to work with places who will instantly send you the medical paperwork via email and stay in communication with you via text. You don't get that at pet check engine. I do not recommend.

Brought my 15 y/o to VCA because he wasn't well. Everyone here was beyond kind and gentle. Gave me…read moremy options, but gave it to me as if he were their baby, too. They gave him an IV and something to help him, but it was too late. He was in a lot of pain and I had to make one of the hardest decisions ever. They were patient, respectful, and helpful. I wish I hadn't needed to bring him in at all, but glad that since I had to, that it was here. My 15 y/o mix had been ill for some time. NOT HERE: First, we were told he had a mass, but most likely benign. I was hopeful and scheduled his appointment for a month out. He was not looking great, so I rushed his appointment to get it removed mid-June. They removed the tumor 6/24 but by then the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. He's been home and being taken care of. Yesterday he wasn't doing well... I took him to a different ER because it was "more affordable" - big mistake because 12hrs later and we had not been seen. Yes, I paid a little more at VCA, but now I see why.

His vets office was not open on the weekends so we loaded him in my truck and took him to VCA on Saturday night. He was assesed and deemed "stable" and we were dismissed. I was shocked that they were not interested in trying to determine the cause of the tender abdomen or lack of appetite. The next morning (Sunday) he seemed worse.. Not really responding to any of his JOY triggers or favorite people. He was just hiding under the bed. So, we loaded him back up and went back VCA. Once again, after a 2 minute "assessment" we were refused treatment because they determined he was stable enough to go home and make an appointment with our own vet. I thought for sure that they at least run some blood work or obtain some imagery of his tender abdomen, but nope, nothing. By Monday morning he was lethargic and my vet was able to squeeze him in for treatment. They did labwork and an xray/ultrasound. Determined he had a huge stone in his bladder, and we were sent to the emergency vet on Easton. By this time, the numbers coming up in his labwork were pretty soul crushing.. He was in critical condition. The stone had blocked the bladder from emptying and that caused the bladder to rupture. We made the choice to end his suffering. I truly believe that if VCA would have performed an xray then they would have seen the blockage and would have helped him empty his bladder, preventing it from rupturing. PLEASE update your policy and use more thorough assessment. My dog would still be alive if he hadn't been turned away, twice, without a proper assessment.

I was specific of all the areas of concerns with Jay during the evaluation. He recommended four sessions for Jazz. At first I thought no way will this Boxer be corrected with four sessions. To my surprise I quickly learned otherwise. First session Jay addressed the running out the front door when opened. Jazz immediately obeyed Jay and myself. So impressive! Second session we needed Jazz to sit on his bed during breakfast & dinner. While his owner in a wheelchair enjoys his meals. Jay accomplished that in half the session. Third session was walking. Being able to keep Jazz on my side and from growling at other people or dogs. In one session Jay empowered me to lead Jazz. A big task for some of us women who struggle with being pack leaders. Jazz and I have been enjoying some lovely walks. Thank you Jay!!! Fourth session was calling Jazz in from backyard. Jazz did well with Jay. That is something I am sure I will master shortly! If not, I now have a dog expert to reach out to for help. Jazz was so excited to see Jay on a weekly basis. Jay was so loving and it made me realized I was not loving with Jazz. He is not my dog but my clients. However, I have started to love on him. This way he feels he belongs to someone and that he is loved. This poor dog came from the shelter during COVID. I have no idea what life he had before. However, now Jazz is living his best life ever thanks to Tails of Success. I have always felt professional dog trainer have. value. This recent situation has re-enforced their value based on their experience, quick results, and in home training. I highly recommend this experts.
