The staff were all very kind and patient with my 88lb German Shepard, he was a bit standoffish and barking (hence the muzzle) but the staff and doctor were very patient with him and allowed him time to warm up to them. They checked his issues and provided quick diagnosis and solution for his issues. Hoping this clears him all up! Just moved to the area and our first visit to Pet Check Engine and I would highly recommend to others to bring their pets here! Thank you again!

I read about it on the app Nextdoor, where neighbors were recommending their services to those seeking a Vet Clinic. Since I recently moved to Palmdale and needed a new vet for my cats and I decided to give them a try. The service was on schedule, fast, informative, and totally inexpensive. Appointments availability for same or next day. I was surprised of the services prices; I thought the total was for one of my cats and it came out it was for both. I paid just $90 for two cats year boosters, annual deparasite, and consultation. I have never paid so little for annual vaccines and checkup. I was impressed of the price and good service. I totally recommend it!

We were recommended here from the first vet we went to because the doctor had to go to an emergency surgery. They accommodated us really quick and provided good service! Everyone was so friendly and nice -- s/o to Jen, Juanita and Dr. Youseff. Highly recommend!! Thank you Pet Check Engine!

Pet Check Engine always takes good care of our fur babies. The staff is supper friendly & helpful. They always take the time to inform us of the treatments they will provide our pups. The facility is really clean which it reflects on how's much pride they take on the animals they service. I highly recommend Pet Check Engine.

    She's awaiting her vaccinations.

I ended up calling out of work to stay with him the whole time & during his stay he was treated so well. he had his own doctor & nurse, they would check on him every couple of hours or so and always took care of anything he needed. my kitty has a history of having a uti & wasn't peeing for the first 12 hours. I wasn't too concerned because he does that when he's in a new environment naturally but different nurses were so attentive with checking his bladder some even did quick ultrasounds. It is expensive but so is every other emergency hospital & my bill was actually the same price as when he was in a different hospital a few years before & there I was only able to visit him for 30 minutes. I think being able to stay with him the whole time made all the difference for me & my kitty too. I know he would've been stressed being left alone in a cage for almost 2 days and that could've affected his recovery. thank you to everyone who was so sweet to him giving him love and attention. he literally was purring his whole time here & he was actually a little upset to leave.

Backstory: one of my dogs woke up on a Friday unable to open his eye, which quickly turned into an infection and I spent 2 days trying to find a vet / urgent care to take him to near my home in North Hollywood. Every hospital in LA that I called, I was either met with an immediate "hello, please hold" (for 20 minutes), capacity already met, an absurd wait time with no promise of being seen, or unsympathetic staff saying "an eye infection is not an emergency". I called SC Animal Urgent Care & Wellness Center at 7:08pm on a SUNDAY, arrived at 7:45pm and was seen by Dr. Mousa by 7:55pm! From the second the receptionist answered the phone, I knew I was in good hands. She was extremely compassionate & quickly took my information, along with my dogs symptoms and told me to come right in to be seen by Dr. Mousa. Dr. Mousa is a GOD SEND!!! I am so blessed to have found him. Dr. Mousa examined & handled my dog with so much care and explained that he had an corneal ulcer which was quickly deteriorating his cornea and that if I had not brought him in immediately, he would have lost his eye (which was still a possibility at that point due to the 2 day wait trying to find a vet/hospital). Dr. Mousa's urgency along with his care, compassion and knowledge is the type of service you expect and deserve when you go to a hospital concerned, stressed and scared for your dog. Lexi (vet assistant) is phenomenal & so sweet!!! Lexi treated my dog like he was her own and she explained every step of what was happening and why, then what would be next. She even shared a story about her cat with me to show how she related to me in that moment. They are an amazing team and will give your pets the best car!

He truly cares about his patients and their owners, which I was not expecting. I feel as if we're always rushed and never heard. When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

They took me in rapidly and the Doctor was very kind and empathetic to my nervous cat. They diagnosed his issue quickly and let me know it wasn't a complete crisis so that helped calm me down. They did a blood and urine draw which went very smoothly given how nervous my cat was, and overall the doctor/nurses walked me through all the steps very honestly and openly with estimates provided at every step which was very appreciated. As a layman I cannot say how much of the tests they did were strictly necessary and what was nice to have, but doctor explained everything very thoroughly so I left feeling like it was pretty reasonable. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because although I arrived around 7 when it was pretty empty, by 8-9PM when my cat was getting his draws and test results, the place became a lot busier and the doctor couldn't attend to me as much, so I ended up not being able to leave until around midnight, including at least one period of over an hour where I was just waiting around. But I can't really blame them that much-- I was in a private room because my cat is skittish so I didn't see, but when I left I saw the place was a total zoo with lots of people, so I think they were just overwhelmed. Overall -- very good service. Bill was a bit high, but they gave me options and walked me through every step with estimates for my confirmation. Only downside was longer wait time as the night progressed.

Dr. Linda Jackson went above and beyond to save my cat last week…read more I had brought Roo into the hospital on a Saturday night and my cat is semi feral, so although she's sweet and gentle with me, not so much with anyone else. Roo was extremely dehydrated from throwing up and diarrhea, which had gone on for a few days. She was so weak that it wasn't difficult to get her into the carrier, but I knew examining her, much less giving much needed fluids and an anti vomiting shot would be a challenge, to say the least. No disrespect to the crew on Saturday night, but the doctor on call was young and admitted he had not had experience handling a semi feral cat. We tried explaining the way we had seen her examined in the past (through the top of the carrier with a towel over her head), but he ended up having to anesthetize her because she tried to run away when they were examining her. They administered fluids, clipped her nails, and did bloodwork - which showed she most likely had Pancreatitis. We took her home and hoped for the best. She did not however, improve and it took her over 24 hours to come out of sedation. She was crawling around on her belly crying and I thought for sure she was dying, having not eaten in almost 4 days at that point. I rushed her back to the hospital and hit the jackpot - Dr. Jackson was there. She is the medical director of the hospital, and had been highly recommended to us in the waiting room the first time we were there by other patrons. I was so happy that she would be the doctor examining Roo. Dr. Jackson came into the room I had been waiting in, sat down next to me and her warmth and empathy were extremely appreciated - and needed at that point. She discussed a plan with me: to try and give more fluids and an anti nausea shot. She explained that the shot Roo had previously been given was an anti vomiting shot, but that an anti nausea shot would help Roo get her appetite back and get her on the path of recovery faster. Dr. J said she was going to attempt to get the fluids into Roo without sedation?! She said she thought we could do it with the help of a technician, and with me being in the room to stand in front of Roo, petting her and talking to her to reassure her. With the help of Isaiah, Dr. J got a shot in AND fluids under Roo's skin -- without sedation! It was incredible to witness and be a part of. I've never been allowed in the room with any of my rescues when they are receiving medical attention, this was a first - and it was incredibly moving. Dr. J was so gentle - and she insisted the fluids were warm before giving them - that was also something I had never seen. She explained that receiving cold fluids, especially to an animal already in pain/frightened was jarring, while warm fluids were soothing. Dr. Jackson was so kind and wise and gentle - this is/was the best experience I have ever had with a vet - and I have rescued many dogs and cats over the last 20 years. Dr. Jackson has made this crazy, and mostly cruel world a bit warmer, a bit softer and definitely brighter.

Instead, before they even looked at his paw, the conversation immediately turned to "depending on your finances." That really bothered me. It made me feel like assumptions were being made about me based on my appearance before anyone had even taken the time to properly assess my dog or understand why I was concerned. I understand that veterinary care costs money and that discussing treatment costs is sometimes necessary. What I don't understand is why finances seemed to become the focus before my dog was even examined. I came there because I was worried about him, not to be judged on what someone assumed I could or could not afford. After three visits, I expected more compassion, professionalism, and genuine concern for my dog's wellbeing. Instead, I left feeling dismissed and judged, and most importantly, feeling like my dog's paw was never given the attention it deserved. That is incredibly disappointing from a place you trust with the care of your pet.

Recently, I learned they have different staff, Emergency team and Cardiology specialist staff on different days. The cardiology technician and doctor I normally work with are amazing. They are only there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. On the other days, it's been a nightmare, and I would strongly advise against going then. Prices were quoted nearly four times higher. For my dog, we have always done a single-view X-ray. However, Cody insisted on doing a three-view X-ray, which would have cost almost $1,300. I asked if it was possible to do the single view, as I've done for years with the other doctor. Cody responded by saying I am not a doctor and that if I wasn't happy, I could go somewhere else. I honestly did not feel any compassion from him and found him to be cold and dismissive. When I mentioned I would leave a review, he said he didn't care and told me to go ahead. I felt forced and helpless at that point and signed a release form to discharge my dog. I left feeling hurt and distressed.

Over the past two months, I've been here approximately 6-7 times with our three dogs for exams, vaccines, and an unexpected surgery for my mom's dog, whom I also recommended to this hospital. The surgery itself went well, and the cost was actually very reasonable considering the procedure. Unfortunately, my experience with the customer service has been consistently disappointing. The wait times have been long at nearly every visit. I understand that emergencies happen, but what concerns me more is how clients are treated by the front office staff and office manager. They often come across as dismissive, lacking compassion, and sometimes even condescending. Instead of simply relaying information, they sometimes seem to offer medical explanations that should really come directly from the veterinarian. When I asked to speak with the veterinarian to clarify questions about my dog's care, I was repeatedly routed through several staff members before getting any answers. That process was frustrating and unnecessary. After my mom's dog's surgery, I expected a little more compassion and guidance. Instead, it felt like we were rushed out the door. We received only limited explanations about medications, dosing schedules, and post-operative care. The focus seemed to be on scheduling the next appointment rather than making sure we understood how to care for our pet at home. When we asked why another appointment was necessary, the only explanation given was, "The doctor said so." During one visit, while waiting for my pet, there were three employees at the front desk, yet no one acknowledged me for about 20 minutes. Even after finally checking in, I continued waiting without any updates. Because this has happened repeatedly over multiple visits--not just once--I don't believe these are isolated incidents. The veterinarians appear knowledgeable, and the pricing has been fair. However, the front office is often the first and last interaction clients have, and unfortunately, it leaves a negative impression. I genuinely hope management addresses the customer service experience because I would like to continue bringing my pets here. As it stands, though, I am considering taking my business elsewhere unless I see meaningful improvement.
