Amazing custom American Spoon gift package from Aleana W. Awesome products from Michigan.

I was introduced to American Spoon by a friend who gifted my wife and me with a wonderful assortment of this company's premium jams, salsas, fruit butters, condiments and more. We were immediately impressed with the presentation of our gift basket and how well the shipment was protected from potential damage. American Spoon is a family owned and operated company with several locations in Michigan. If you don't live near a physical location you can still easily order from their online store and have your purchase shipped. Enjoy it yourself or send it to a friend, they have wonderful gift baskets. They source the best local ingredients for their products and prepare everything in small batches. Their products taste amazing and have a lot of character. My wife and I are working our way through our gift box. So far we have only sampled a few items and have found each one truly fabulous. The Chili Jam is spicy and delicious on so many things. We have also enjoyed the Mango Habanero Salsa and the Dried Chili Salsa. We look forward to sampling the rest of the products we received, I know they will be wonderful.

What a cute little store. Best part is that there was a free shipping (to Honolulu!) with the purchase of 6 (or more) things promotion happening. The problem was limiting it to 6! We did pick up a jar of granola for father's day, which was well received and thoroughly enjoyed. Quality locally made products, you cannot go wrong.

The marketing team really missed the mark with this image. Nothing about this photo is appetizing or even remotely appealing. Sorry, folks.

My family received American Spoon's Complete Pancake Breakfast for Christmas. It included a bag of pancake mix, two jars of fruit toppings (sour cherry and blueberry), and a jar of their maple syrup. I hadn't previously heard of the company and didn't know what to expect. It turns out that their pancakes, fruit toppings, and maple syrup are exceptional! We were really impressed and the quality was excellent! Delicious and highly recommended. Unfortunately the promo photo that came with the kit shows a disgusting stack of lopsided pancakes that are drowning in fruit toppings. It's not aesthetically pleasing or even remotely appetizing. The product team did their job very well, but the marketing team blew it with this photo. Not sure how this image slipped by the QC team. Yuck!

I support the local food thing, I do. And generally, I am happy to pay a lot of money for seriously good stuff. And I tried the local sour cherries from a nearby fruit stand. HOLY COW! Tart. Bursting. Delicate. Bright. Beguiling, even? And then I try American Spoons Sour Cherry products, and it just misses, in my book. Too much sugar and too much heat kills the delicacy of the fruit. I mean... I know it's got to be shipped all over the country, and be made in quantity, etc. etc. I just don't see all the fuss or why you would pay the tariff for such a thing. It's like the salt water taffy or maybe even fudge of jam shops (if that makes ANY sense). It is nice that they have a big tasting bar. It was less nice that some of the crackers tasted rancid. But I was glad to be able to sample their products. Jam tasting, as an activity, is WAY underrated.

THE. MOST. DELICIOUS. PASTRIES. EVER…read more On our roadtrip, we stopped at the Crooked Tree looking for a local coffee shop. What greeted us was the most delightful case of pastries and loaves of breads. This is a bakery with no seating. Looks to be a large operation that might deliver breads and baked goods locally. There is a bread case, a pastry case, and lots of merch. A very patient young lady was working the counter on the morning we stopped. It took me a while to decide because I wanted one of everything, but had no business doing that! She patiently and quietly waited. Finally, I settled on a ham and cheese croissant and a cherry and white chocolate scone. My husband had a raspberry danish. I did get a drip coffee in the end. The ham and cheese croissant was crisp and flaky with the perfect balance of hame and gruyere. I have not had a scone this good. Ever. Not even in Ireland! If you "do not like scones," these are worth the try! We snacked on the pastries in the car so along with Lake Michigan sand, my car now has lots of flakes of our delicious pastries. Like sand, it's impossible not to leave remnants of the goodness behind. Tip: if you are not local, buy more than you need!! I wish I had.

Flavor if cinnamon rolls were more spicy maple. Chocolate chip cookies were not good at all. I found them to be soft yet the flavor to be different. Oatmeal cookie was over baked. Service- fast and fair Ambiance- small non-rustic bakery I would not recommend this place as none of the baked goods that I purchased were tasty. Very disappointing.

What a great decision!…read more The atmosphere is upscale but cozy, and since we were enjoying happy hour, we sat at the bar. We tried quite a few cocktails, all of which were delicious, but the cosmo and Paloma were our favorites. To eat, I tried the "fried chicken" which was amazing. So much flavor and plenty of food for an appetizer. My partner had the seafood "chowder" - super yummy too. Overall, we loved the experience and will add it to our northern Michigan rot

As a person with a disability that is protected under the ADA, reasonable accomodation was not given to our party. The server was also combative when asked for the ADA concession and even went to the kitchen and loudly discussed the disability with coworkers (so loud the entire restaurant could hear the disability being discussed). Really unfortunate experience. Our entire party agreed that we would not dine here again. Funny because a simple concession could have made longtime patrons of our group. Instead, over a rather small issue that was disproportionately blown up and blatantly thrown back at us with belittling comments. I believe our server had a choice to be accommodating and instead chose to make the situation extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. As well established community members, we will not be suggesting this establishment to anyone in the future.
