I would hope they are knowledgeable concerning locks and safes, and my door had some challenges obtaining parts, but the service received I would consider poor in follow up, appreciation and value of time, and reasonable communication concerning these issues. And they are not above patronizing the customer to substantiate these shortcomings. So happy i found this place, I went to 2 different hardware stores to get key copied they were both out of that type of key, this place had it and made me the copies I needed, I showed them a lock on a door we have were the lock won't work anymore, they were very helpful and said they could come out and try to fix it or even replace the lock with a more user friendly one( this is some fancy Eruopean lock) the door was given to us but no one that uses it knows the technique to use it , So looking forward to setting up a time for them to come fix the issue. very helpful people read more

These guys rock. They were busy this morning yet after I had two keys made, I showed them a broken key and told them that the other half was in my pickup shell. "No problem, let's take a look" It took about 15 minutes of patience, skill and experience to pop out the embedded key. Done. I never do Yelp reviews, but I have to share this. I am house sitting with a couple of dogs in Petaluma. As I left this morning, I realized I had forgotten something. Put the key in the lock, it would not turn, worse yet, the key was stuck in the lock! I tried for at lease 20 minutes to remove it (bloody finger to prove it). Called Bill's, he walked me through how to remove it, still couldn't get the key out. He actually had me face time him, showed him the lock. He told me exactly what to do and the key released. I've used Bill's twice in the past five years. They are efficient, and super nice. I recently added additional exterior doors and security gates to the house. Within 30 minutes, I had all the locks matching and he even made me a spare key out of the work truck. The only hiccup this last time was I scheduled them to come on a thursday and after 30 minutes of no one arriving, i called and whomever scheduled the appt wrote down friday. I called Bills Lock & Safe to re-key three knobs and replace two dead bolts so three doors will match. I also asked that they provide several copies of my newly installed front door Baldwin lockset. When the tech was finished he gave me a new key for my font door (Baldwin lockset) which I did NOT ask to be re-keyed as it was new and worked fine, I simply needed copies of the key made. After the tech left without checking the locks...I went to check the locks to be sure all was complete only to find that I no longer have a working key for my new Baldwin lock-set! When I called to complain about why I paid over $400 and was left without a working key for my new Baldwin lock-set which I DID NOT ASK to have re-keyed and I was told Baldwin lock-sets are garbage and they were not responsible. I calmly asked for the owner who quickly took my call. He explained that Baldwin Locks are now garbage and they use a smart-key which often does not work! When I explained that I DID NOT ASK FOR THE FRONT DOOR TO BE RE-KEYED, he said I will come out and fix the situation! He arrived with the tech and took a look around, I showed what I had asked for, explained about the front door (and the back gate which they damaged). His response was we did a good job here, my guy could not have damaged your gate and you bought garbage at a high price and he was not responsible. End Result: I no longer have a key to my font door and I wasted my money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCKSMITH AT ALL EXPENSE!! Total rip off! read more

I called Bill's after our car was stolen with my purse containing our house keys . I was anxious to get our 70's front door key rekeyed! I had to cancel one appointment but the office staff very kindly and efficiently got me a new appointment as soon as they could. These old doors are one of my favorite things about our house and I was so grateful that their senior technician Jesus, who has been a locksmith for 18 years, knew how to rekey our old doorknobs so we didn't have to replace them. Had trouble up here in Ukiah getting a duplicate key made for my Audi. (We lost one). Had another guy in Lakeport make me a key, but it quit working after a year. Then he no-showed after I drove all the way over there to get another made.
