Stopped at Bill's Place while I was in Yakima and got an order to go. I was really impressed with everything I tried. I got the traditional cheeseburger and added an extra patty. It is kind of like a smash burger, but the patties are actually decently thick and still have that really good grilled crust on the outside. The burger was cooked really well and the bun was one of the best parts. It is bigger and a little heavier than a normal burger bun, and it held everything together really well. I also got the buffalo wings and thought they were really good. You get a great portion for the price and they had plenty of flavor. I also tried the grilled cheese with bacon added. It comes on sourdough and was grilled perfectly. Really simple, but really good. The fries were also very good, although I definitely recommend eating them right away while they are hot. They did not hold up quite as well after sitting in the takeout box for a while. I only went inside long enough to pick up my food, but the bar itself was actually really nice. It had a much better atmosphere than I was expecting. If I am ever back in Yakima, I would definitely stop in again and actually sit down for a burger and a drink. read more

Meet friends for lunch who had never been to this place before. My spouse and I have gone several times on Wednesday for the "special" Smash burger with fries. We've always sat in the main part of the Tavern, but the first person arriving chose to sit in the side room which seems to be a back-up supplies room with a long table for guests since it was quieter. It was quieter. No matter the sitting location, the service has always been great. I had the Reuben sandwich, and it was excellent--flavorful, well made, and generously portioned. Even better, they actually had horseradish available, which is surprisingly hard to find and made the whole thing even better for me. This is the least dive-iest dive bar I've ever been in. I've been in sketchier McDonalds. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff and the patrons don't care if you're passing through or a local - you are welcome. The food is really good and the drinks are all top shelf with 30 plus local craft beers on tap. Food and drinks here are great! We had some of their special drinks which were super delicious. The food here wasn't bad at all either. My favorite that we had were pulled pork nachos. The vibe here is really nice. It's not dive bar-y but a little more upscale than that. Service here was great too. After arriving to our hotel late in the evening, we looking for some place in the area that was still open and discovered Bill's Place. They had a decent sounding menu and online ordering, so we ordered a burger and a Ruben with fries and tots. It was all phenomenal! The tots were still crisp, even after driving back to the hotel, and their ranch for dipping was so good! We had been hearing about the spot for a long time, but never had a chance to come check it out. In the past, it was sort of a dive bar with intermittent comedy nights, and ultimately just not the sort of spot that we found ourselves very often. We had heard that the food was good here enough times however that we figured for a lunch date we should check it out. We were blown away with what we found! We had heard that they had really upped their game as far as food went over the past few years, and that's exactly what we found. The menu wasn't huge, but they were definitely playing around with lots of different items including burgers, sandwiches, entrées and even some pretty cool salads. The Decour in here is actually a cool straddling of Davie and contemporary. There were lots of Yakima themed items throughout including some cool etchings on the wall and some good stuff on the tables. We ended up splitting a grilled salad and a double cheeseburger with bacon and an egg. The grilled salad was like epically good. Not something we were expecting, but perfectly done and with enough stuff on top to keep your fork busy aiming at something. The burger was a top 10% with really good beef, cheese and some boss level bacon! I've never been excited to go back to a bar to try their food, but we are legitimately excited and planning our next stop here. I personally am very excited to try out there fried bologna sandwich... Don't judge, it's a great throwback to childhood! Be it for dinner, lunch or just meeting up with someone, this is a really good spot to check out. You'll be glad you did! read more

My husband and I enjoy our dinner on Wednesday evenings...known as Wimpy Wednesday where they have the Wimpy burger with fries ( or Tater Tots ) on special. In addition to the Wimpy, they have a full menu to choose from. Which includes delicious Pizza, several different gourmet burgers and so much more. Check out the board by the bar which lists daily specials. There is outdoor seating out back .... On Thursday evening my friend and I love Trivia night .. hosted by Mike. Yakima's, Bill's Place is a great local bar with elevated food and incredible selection of local Wine and beers on clean taps, an expanded Bourbon and cocktail collection. The food is elevated pub food very filling and wonderful flavors with a pizza oven on site. The staff are friendly and inviting always make you feel at home. Indoor and outdoor dining and drinking areas. The crowd is a pleasant mix of local Yakima people, tourists on the weekends and part-timers to the valley. Nice vibe and a good time. read more

So I was staying at a hotel about 20 minutes away, and debating on trying this place. I'm so glad I did! I had a cup of chili, and a mushroom and Swiss Burger. The chili was perfect with a dollop of sour cream on top. The burger was one of the best burgers I had in my life, no kidding.. it was cooked perfectly, toppings were perfect, and it was just delicious. Their fries are good too! Bills place was great! We were in Yakima for the 2A basketball state championship and we needed a place for lunch! I typed in "Ruben sandwich " on Yelp and Bills place popped up! I typed in "dive bar " and again, Bills place topped the list so off we went! The food was delicious and the drinks were strong.Everything was reasonably priced. The pizza crust and sauce was perfect, the wings were small and crispy like I prefer. My daughter had a cheeseburger and fries that she also enjoyed. The fries were seasoned and came with a fry sauce. They had a bunch of beer and cider on tap as well as a full bar and pull tabs. We tried the raspberry sour, a bloody merry and a vodka, soda with lime. I would definitely mix this place into the rotation if I lived in Yakima. Their service was fast and friendly and their food and drinks were better than to be expected! read more

This place use to be an old dive bar. Not sure who bought it, but they've elevated the food, drinks and atmosphere. Doesn't smell like old smoke and super clean. I can see me having lunch here during the week as prices are very good. Great place to meet up with friends and have a few drinks. Nicely done new owners. What a lovely little place with surprisingly good food. From the outside it is just a bar in a not very lovely location but once inside it became clear why so many folk dine here. Our meal was a healthy Mediterranean salad and a Greek wrap. Both were excellent with loads of food. The draft beers were top notch too. read more

Amazing! Fantastic staff and great food! We came in at 9:30 looking for great late night food, and boy did we find it. The cooks were out on break and said they'd hurry up as our daughter was with us. We didn't realize it was a bar, but they were super cool and accommodating so we could hurry back to our kid who ended up waiting in the car. When we walked in bar staff greeted us immediately. They were quick with recommendations and super friendly. We got deviled eggs, grilled asparagus, caprese crostini, grilled cheese, and a meatloaf sandwich to go and it was ready in about 10. All the food was over the top amazing! Scratch made, flavor was excellent and the care with the little details was spot on. I wish we lived in the area so we could come back! Well, I hate giving negative reviews! After reading all the 5 star reviews we looked forward to visiting a local place for a good burger. But, I am going to do this by the numbers. 1. Menus on yelp is outdated and they offer about half of what is on the yelp menu. 2. Took 15 minutes to get our first drinks despite settling down n the bar in direct view of EVERY staff member. However, Margarita was excellent. 3. Had to ask for a menu... twice, then I finally got up and got it myself when both requests did not result in a menu in my hand . NOTE: this should have been a sign and we should have left... 4. Ordered... it took forever to get our food... hubby ordered a double burger, it was a single... 5. I ordered the chili... find a new recipe folks... stag chili has way more flavor than what you are putting out. Zero flavor. 6. Had to wave someone down for another drink, despite the fact that the wait staff/bartender walked by us numerous times and they could see us from the bar. 7. Staff was having a lot of fun with people they knew... maybe contributing to the quality of the service. 8. Smash burger means it is SMASHED o the grill... it's a real thing (I own a black stone, we do them all the time). I watched them out pre made Pattie's in the griddle, which is FINE, just don't call it a SMASH burger! 9. Hire more people.. seriously, we felt the staff was working hard, but the number of people that came up to the bar to order drinks and pay their bill should be a message. read more
