Went in looking for a part on a machine still covered on warranty and was greeted with terrible customer service. I was told I'd have to bring in the machine not just a defective part by a rude employee who still had Covid barriers surrounding his work area and acted as if I was bothering him. I have had Simplicity mowers for over 20 years. Very happy with products. Recently bought a Simplicity Conquest mower from Bill's Power Equipment. Also bought a Simplicity Snowblower from Bill's a couple years ago. I am extremely pleased with their staff and knowledgeable prep and repair service. The staff has always been friendly and eager to help, even with DIY stupid questions. Ive4 gone elsewhere, but have never gotten the quality of personalized service as at Bill's Power Eqipment in Brookfield, WI on Capitol Drive. Keep up the great customer service! read more

Was just standing at the counter at Bill's buying a part for my lawnmower, and the other counter employee was calling MY FATHER (what a coincidence). After he hung up with my father, he said very loudly "when I get that old and can't hear or talk or answer the phone just dump me in Lake Michigan"! I was just gobsmacked that people are so clueless that they would trash talk their customers IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS! Of course, as it is a small world, you never know who you might offend. My dad is really old, I get the frustration, but from what I heard, the customer service guy only had to repeat himself once. I don't know why I'm even writing this review, other than wanting to vent as I don't suspect the owner reads these reviews or does anything about them. I gave 2 stars because the guy that helped me was OK, but I would never go back. Update: Used Nelson Bros. Power on Lisbon Rd in Meno Falls with a much happier outcome! I bought a scraper bar for a simplicity snowblower through Ebay. I decided to buy it from this business because it is in Wisconsin. I received knock off part that wasn't the right dimensions neither the mounting holes were the right dimension, they were smaller and neither the right shape. The blade I received has round and smaller holes that forbids the blade to adjust and it is a lot skinner than the original. I tried to return it and they kept telling me that Just needed self tapping screws, That is a stupid answer because first where are you going to screw them to? Second the blade needs to have square holes so the carriage bolts can keep it in place and the holes need to be rectangular so you can adjust the blade to match the slider shoes and the blade they sent me is 1 1/2 inches thinner, it do not give space for any adjustment. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! By the way I have a small engines shop and I know what I'm talking about read more

After 4 attempts to fix my Honda WalkBehind Lawnmower (total of 9 weeks in Bill's shop), I took the mower to Proven Power in Oconomowoc. Proven Power took care of my service needs in 1 week. Bill's Power Center ranks as one of worst equipment stores in the entire metro area i've ever seen. IMO- they have no morals, ethics or integrity whatsoever. I haven't bought any equipment from Bill's Power Center in at least 25 years, just clicked on here because of another store site, it said various other equipment stores searched. I speculated B.P.C. would have a 2* star rating at best, in actuality it's a 1* star rating,,, shocking-shocking,,, well, I'M NOT SHOCKED!!! The service is among the worst anywhere i.m.o. Also the parts prices are usually marked up among the highest cost anywhere. If you know what's best for you, you'll stay far away from B.P.C. I called about purchasing an Ariens snow blower. Josh answered my call and immediately established a tone that I knew wasn't going to go well. I asked if he had any on the floor I could look at and he said no they were all packed away in the warehouse. He said I could go walk through the warehouse if I wanted. His answers were short and curse one word answers with the rude tone to go with it. Whats up with Josh...Bills Power Center must have too many customers already. Bought an expensive Kubota tractor at Bill's.. After the sale, have had nothing but the run around. They will not return calls, and an overall bad experience with their parts people that make you feel like a burden. Have placed 7calls into the owner and he never calls back. I have lived in Brookfield my whole life. I have gone to bills numerous times for lawnmower parts and repairs. The customer service is by far some of the worst I have ever experienced. What really bugs me about bills is there condescending attitude whenever you tell them you own a craftsman lawnmower or any brand of lawnmower that they don't carry. When I have ordered parts from them they up charge you by 30 to 50% and it takes two weeks to get. My recommendation to any person reading this is to google your lawn mowers model number find the part on repairclinic.com or Amazon or Lowe's or Home Depot and order it there. I bought a chainsaw on their website, and when I went to pick it up, it was sitting on the floor, unboxed, had oil and fuel in it. It was run, and the salesman even admitted they filled it up with fluids and ran it. When I buy a new chainsaw and spend hundreds of dollars, I want it in the box and no oil or fuel put in it and definitely not previously run by someone. Then when I asked if this chainsaw had been used they laughed at me like I was an idiot. I will never go back to this store and this experience was the opposite of what I expected. Especially being a stihl dealer. Stihl is, in my opinion, a top of the line manufacturer and to allow a dealer of their product to conduct business this way is a damn shame. read more

Multiple bad experiences, including the customer service itself. About 3 years ago I needed a repair on my riding mower after hitting the water cap thing in my front yard. The mower ran absolutely perfect when I brought it in, I just couldn't engage the mower blades. I paid to have them pick it up and after a few days they called to tell me it was fixed. I then paid for them to drop it off. They unloaded it and it seemed fine. The next day I went to use it and it wouldn't stay running. It was sputtering and running horribly until it finally died. I called them back and explained that it ran like a champ before bringing it to them. They offered to pick it back up AT MY EXPENSE which I reluctantly agreed to. They agreed to cut the cost in half (I live 1.6 miles away. A 3 min drive). They picked it up and called me with the diagnosis. They told me there was water in the engine, more than likely from me using a 5 gallon gas can...I however do not have a 5 gallon can. Again, it ran perfectly smooth before bring it to them. I paid for the "repair" and they brought it back to me. Fast forward to this past winter and my snow blower electric start was not working. I had a friend load it into his truck and drive me down there to avoid the pick up charge. I bring it in and explain that the starter button does nothing and want to have that fixed. 3 days later I get a call that it is done. I went with my friend and picked it up and brought it home. The repair cost was reasonable. After getting it home I plug in the extension cord and go to start it and NOTHING. Exactly how it was when I gave it to them. I call them immediately and explain and they look at the file and say "you told us something else was wrong with it." I said nope I brought it in and told the guy (who happened to be Bill) that when I press the button nothing happens and wanted that fixed electric start fixed. He said they rebuilt the carb and some other stuff and it ran for them. This guy instructs me to call back and talk to Bill. I try for 2 days to get a hold of Bill (he was at the warehouse) and when I finally do he tells me the same thing "you told me it was something else.". He then tells me I can pull start it and no one uses the electric start anyway. Ok, well I have never pull started it. Wow. I was not happy with this at all and he agreed to come pick it up and they would let me know how much the starter would be to replace. In the meantime I look the part up and find out its about $45 on Amazon and is literally held in with 2 bolts. A 10 min repair for a professional. The next day I get a call from the tech and he quotes me $300! Keep in mind I've had this machine for probably 15 years so it's not worth paying a ton to keep it running. I said forget it and just bring it back. I ended up pull starting it all winter long. I guess he was right... And now today, I call to ask about replacement spindle assemblies for my rider. The guys asks what the part number is. I reply, I don't have the number but I have the model number of my mower if you can look it up? He says, "nope, we're not a Craftsman dealer so I can't." So you can some how magically order the part without looking it up, but you can look it up over the phone???!!! Keep in mind, I called Nelsons Brothers Power Center 20 min before Bills and they quickly looked up the parts and gave me a price on the parts and labor. Needless to say, I won't bother calling them for service or shopping there for anything it the future. One problem I'm willing to overlook. Twice and I've lost faith. And then being totally unwilling to help over the phone and I'm done. read more

They have terrible customer service, especially if you are a woman. They talk to you like you don't matter, they don't give clear answers and they are extremely unhelpful. When I needed a new belt for our mower the guy said I don't have one and don't know when I'll get one and my supplier doesn't know when they will get one. I asked if he knew anyone else I could get the part from and he said, I doubt anyone else has one either. I called another place and they had one in stock and even held it for me until I could get there. Will not use Bill's again, and they have a bad reputation with other dealers as well. Horrible, fraudulent people! I took our lawn mower in to be serviced because it wasn't starting. There were signs posted telling customers that they must pay a $50 deposit for repairs because people often don't pick up their mowers. I was asked for this and paid it. I was not told that it would be used as payment for diagnosis. I paid in good faith, and the man said that someone would take a look at it and call me with the diagnosis. The man who helped me bring it in from my car attempted to start it and guessed that it was an issue with the fly wheel. I told my husband, and he was shocked because the machine was so new. Several days later I was called and told that there wasn't any oil in the machine and that the engine was entirely burned out. My husband takes good care of our 2-year-old machine, so this felt suspicious to me. At that point the man from Bill's offered to take the mower "off my hands" and dispose of it for me. There was no quote to repair anything. I was told it was just "done". That made me super suspicious, so I told him no, that my husband would come pick it up. My husband called to ask more information about the repair. They didn't like his questions and ended up hanging up on him. My husband then picked up the mower. They handed him a bill of approximately $49 and when my husband asked why the deposit for risk of abandoning the machine wasn't being returned to us, the man yelled, "Well, I had to get a mechanic to look at it!" When my husband asked where the oil had gone from the machine because he knew it had NOT been empty when I brought it in, the man got testy. When my husband told the man that he would be contacting Husqvarna and asking them why such a new machine would be dead already, the man got more testy and stormed away from my husband. My husband spent the next week researching how lawn mowers work and got the machine running again. It ran another 2 weeks. No burned out engine. But there was oil spilled all over the deck of the mower when we got it back. My husband said it looked like they had even tried to pry a part of it open too. We believe that this is a scam to mislead, deceive, and defraud customers. They were not transparent with their pricing and I am convinced that they attempted to damage our machine and then claim it was broken so that they could resell it. read more

My family has purchased all of our Honda & other power equipment here for decades, my most resent experience with service was atrocious. The counter person was rude when I dropped it off, the mechanic never pulled the panels off my machine before giving me a 3-400$ estimate for extras it was not in for. Went to pick it up and was told I was rude to the mechanic when in fact he failed to call me back for 2weeks.. Just a complete failure from the moment I walked in to speaking to the owner as I picked up a non-repaired unit 28 days later! When he said "we've been in business 65 years" I knew he didn't care about my experience either. Just needed simple hardware for Toro Snowblower. Looked up part numbers on Toro site and also got pricing. Gave part numbers to parts guy who in turn pulled my parts. When he rang up my invoice I told him the price was off. I was questioned by another rep where I saw the prices and I explained the Toro site. They still charged me the outrageous price. After getting home I double checked Toro site, called 2 other dealers who quoted me the same price as shown on Toro site. Bills charged 48% more than Toro or other dealers charge. I called Bills to let them know and was told by the parts guy that he doesn't set the prices, that's the price in their system. Save your money and use other reputable dealers. read more

Service is very poor. People were rude and disrespectful. Got yelled at because I went inside and wasn't susposed to, then had to stand there fir 20 minutes till they told me to come in. Wont be going back if they fix my equipment. Dad had problem with them too. Did fix the leaking gas problem he had in his snowblower. Told him to run it dry each time he used it. Wow talk about poor customer service! Took my snowblower in to get its belt repaired was told I needed to put a $50 deposit down toward the repairs. Today Bill's called me and told me it needs $392 worth of work or I can buy a new model for $599 before Nov. 1 but that my $50 deposit will not go toward purchasing a new snow blower, that was the cost of the estimate. Took a chainsaw in there to be sharpened and when it came back the Bucking spikes were not on the saw any more. The service person I talked to (James I think) said they don't need to take them off to sharpen it and there was nothing they could do about it. Well, it was there when I dropped it off, and first cut it bucked back so I knew it wasn't there any more and they were the only ones that worked on it. This place is really horrible. The customer service is literally degrading and embarrassing. I was not going to bring my mower in for repair because Bill told me it was 3-4 weeks out. When I bought a part at the counter, the 3 guys there laughed and said he didnt know what he was talking about and that 2 weeks was the outside. Well, its now been 3 weeks and they can not even track where the part is (a simple spring). Each time I call I get someone worse to talk to. However, the same gas can was used to fill another snowblower, and I had no issues with that other snow blower. When I questioned them about the water they said, "You probably bought bad gas." Wow. This place is a joke! As someone else wrote in a review, there should be a zero rating! My fiance' brought our lawnmower blades and chainsaw chain to be sharpened. He was barely greeted and the person assisting him was not friendly by any means. He was told to drop them off one day and they would be done the next. I went 3 days later to pick up the items. I walked in to 3 employees standing behind the counter. When they saw the door open, one looked at me and went in the back room. The other two turned their backs and ignored me. I was rattling my keys to get their attention and let them know I was there. When they finally turned around I was told they could only find the chainsaw and not the blades and needed the ticket. I asked them to look it up by name and was told that isn't the way they do it. How can you run a business and not input customer information into your computer system to look things up? We had already PREPAID (it was required) and they couldn't find our things? Are you kidding? When he went again to look he came out and told me the "machine we use to sharpen them isn't working" and that it wouldn't be until next week. At that point I was annoyed by the rude behavior and overall lack of professionalism and courtesy. I told them I wanted a refund and I would take them elsewhere. I won't be back -and as I'm reading the reviews it looks like a lot of others won't either. How can a business like this still have customers? Bill needs to spend some money on training his employees (or hire new ones!). Maybe one WAS Bill. Who knows but I don't care to find out. read more

I would give them fewer stars if I could! We took our lawn mower here to be tuned up every year and one time took it to be looked at for an estimate to be fixed. We told them NOT to fix it until we approved the amount of the repairs. We went back to get the estimate and found they did the repairs already. We would never have spent over $400.00 on a 15 year old lawn mower. After arguing, they agreed to lower the bill to about $300.00. After about a month of using it, it failed again. Very disappointed by the middle age manager with the mustache. I needed a spin trimmer and the salesperson told me the model was $149.99 He rang it up at $149.99 on my credit card. The middle age manager acted like I was trying to steal the spin trimmer. He was rude and pushed back on me that they could not sell it for $149.99. He said it was marked at $159.99. I didn't see any pricing on the unit. I was expecting him to say he was sorry they made a mistake, but instead all I got was his rudeness. I brought a snow blower in the fall to get fixed. Finally called a month later and asked what was taking so long. They said they had to do all lawn mower first. Two weeks go by and I heard nothing also it snowed and I didn't have my snow blower. No point of bringing something in way a head of time. Finally get it 7 weeks after I dropped it off and then the gas tank falls of because the screws we're not screwed on tightly. Went back to get screws and they gave me the wrong ones. But, I did run across a salesman, James who was excellent. I was looking for a 2018 Simplicity Lawn Tractor which they had, gave me a price and his card. On the way out he mentioned he could save me some money on a leftover 2017 the exact same mower. I asked to see it, he said it wasn't there had to check the warehouse and would get it there by Friday. Ok. He calls and tells me Thursday he can't get it there until Monday. Great at least he called. Monday he calls it's there, I go there looks great I buy it. Done deal. Delivery scheduled and it was delivered on on time. I called for a oil filter and the guy was not not very happy until I told him I just bought a Tractor there, his whole attitude changed. I was able to purchase four Honda oil filters for the amount Bill's Power Center wanted for just two. Why anyone would pay double for only half the amount of merchandise defies logic. Overcharging customers is simply not going to win them over for repeat visits and sales. Every business owner has to decide how much profit to make, but gouging is not the answer. After buying several used pieces of equipment (For Cash/No Receipt?) I bought a new zero turn. One month later it was recalled so it went back to Bill's For A Month. Finally picked it up after Toro Rep said Get It Out Of Bill's! Countless stories about nightmares in dealing with Bill's after sharing my experience. Dropped off a pressure washer purchased from Briggs & Stratton for warranty work per B&S, been twelve weeks. Also had to Pay $40.00 to leave a warranty pressure washer in their "Care". Trying to feed to may mouths in that place, constant bickering and non-sense arguments interrupting customer conversations with dirty laundry. Third generations always kill an ongoing business. All Done with Bill's, very competent polite Toro Dealer on Lisbon road that is more than happy to service you. read more

I went to Bill's Power Center about this time last year with a brand new Snapper lawn mower for warranty work. This place was the only one anywhere near where I live which was an "authorized" dealer for warranty work on this mower. The problem was that oil started leaking out of the air filter in the middle of me mowing my lawn. This unit was BRAND NEW. Had I not caught this, all of the oil would have completely drained and could have seized the engine. I took it there, and after being told it would be over a week or so, I said OK. I told them exactly what happened. Immediately, the guy behind the counter basically accused me of mishandling the mower by tipping it over and cleaning the underside. I told him I have been mowing my lawn for over 30 years and never tip it over to clean the bottom. After a week or so, I received a call from the guy who worked on the mower and said he ran it for "hours" and no oil came out of the air filter. He said I had to of tipped it over to clean the bottom, and that is why the oil leaked out. Being pi--ed off after hearing this from the guy, I said that was not the case. He also said there was a charge to replace oil in the mower. I said this was warranty work and would not pay that. I demanded to talk to the manager/owner. He defended his guy and said I had to pay for the oil or not get the mower back. I went back ready to blast them again, but bit my lip, payed for the oil, and left. I went right to the BBB site of greater Milwaukee and filed a complaint about them. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, Bill's power center is not a member of the BBB, but they did see the complaint and replied it was owner abuse that caused the oil to leak out of the machine. I have heard many complaints from people over the years who have said they would never go there again because of their elitest attitude, not to mention being way overpriced on everything they sell. A guy who works at Home Depot near there said they get many people who go there and buy equpment, etc. after having a lousy experience with the help at Bill's. I will never go there again, and will drive to the other side of town if need be if I ever need work done again on any power equipment I own. read more
