Thankfully there are people around Menards that you can try to flag down and get help from - they aren't always friendly, but will usually give the right direction. When I need more help, I just head down to Ace. But I do like coming to Menards for a larger selection when I know exactly what I need and can ask around if I can't find it. And I usually can't find it on my own. But this place is huge and whatever you're looking for, it's almost always gonna be there. read more

Going to home, garden, and supply-stores has become a reoccurring task for me since buying a home a few months ago. And though many people think Menards as just a hardware store, they've truly got everything beyond that. Most recently, we popped in to look at lighting and grab an patio table umbrella. Low and behold, we ended up picking plenty of extras beyond that. Their lighting selection is pretty good, but we didn't find the pendant-style we were looking for. It was easy enough to find out way to the outdoor section next which is stacked with patio furniture, lawn care needs, and beyond. Ended up buying a $89 umbrella and it is really great quality! Very happy with the purchase. There are lower priced options, but I've been told by a friend those aren't as quality, so we paid the extra and it was worth it. We also picked up a few summer kids toys for our toddler - think fun sprinkler, scooter, bubble lawn mower, sidewalk chalk - and all of it was really well priced. I wouldn't hesitate to return for more things like these. I'll say the bummer about this place can be the customer service. Folks are always really hard to locate, and those we have come across aren't the friendliest of workers. You can find almost anything you need here though, so I have no doubt we'll continue to return as the home projects continue! read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. The majority of the employees don't speak to you when checking out, they don't know the store or store products and the management must be inexperienced to allow this place to operate like they do. I can say they have some good folks in paint, but the hardware, electrical, and flooring department is terrible. The cashier today checked me out without ever opening his mouth. He never greeted me or tell me my total, no thanks for shopping at Menards. Majority of the time, I drive to the German town store where they are a little more people friendly. read more

Had to make a return without a receipt, item was still in stock at the store. Customer service would not return because no one had purchased the item within 90 days. While I made this purchase more than 90 days ago admittedly this rule was extremely frustrating. They told me to drive to another store which is really poor service IMO. One of my newer favorite stores. Many people think of Menards as only a hardware store. Well you are mistaken!! Watch out Walmart, because Menards is a force to be reckoned with. Especially during Black Friday shopping. For the last 5 years I have racked up on varies items that have been some of the best Christmas gifts. Coined "The Green Store" by family members, Menards deserves a good four stars. I can always find what I'm looking for regardless of the size. Once you memorize the layout you can usually track down what you need quickly. Lots of selection and decently priced for a big box home improvement store. While not visually appealing like Lowe's, Menards makes up for really helpful employees and price. Two annoying things: You can't search their website for anything. It only displays their weekly print ad. Also, their spring flower/shrub selection lacks variety. In this case, I tend to lean towards Minor's Garden Center. Now that Lowe's and Home Depot closed in the area, I foresee Menards standing ground and being the go-to store for home improvement. read more

Worst customer service! Everyone here hates there job. Had a return/exchange that two people together could not help me with, so I basically was telling them how to do their jobs. While one of them blatantly just starts discussing with the other worker that she cannot wait to clock out of her shift today. How disrespectful??? End result : No one who works here could give two shits about customer service! I would find it hard to give Menards less than 5 stars. It's my go-to place for pretty much everything hardware-related. Their prices are competitive and their rebate program has to be one of the best. No cutting out the UPC from the box and waiting 3 months to get a check. Their return policy is also very lenient and if you have an item that exceeds their 3 month return cutoff, they will always give you a store credit. That's better than many other stores. One thing that has always impressed me. No matter what their employees are doing, if you ask where an item is, they will stop and take you there. They don't just point to a place in the store or give you an isle number. They literally accompany you to that item. I have found their employees to be friendly and very knowledgeable too. That makes for a better shopping experience. I do not believe they are commissioned which eliminates the competitiveness you get when, say, shopping for a car. Ask an employee in the appliance department about the difference between 2 appliances and they are able to answer your question right away as well as make suggestions based on your needs. There is no pushy salesperson who steers you towards the product that makes them the most commission. read more

Unlike Home Depot and Lowe's, Menards do not give military discounts to active duty service members or vets. I also recently discovered their mail-in rebate program isn't reliable. I've been waiting several months for four different rebate checks. As a contractor I'll most likely start doing more business with their competitors. The area around this is fading fast. I used to be able to run most of my errands around here. Now no grocery no target no Walmart. So less convenient than it used to be. The Menards is fine. Like most of your typical big box stores if you know what you're looking for and can find it then it's very fast and easy. If you need a lot of help it might be a bit of a wait. Asked the staff their advice for more options than updating the whole light (houses is a 112 years old). What was awesome is two staff referred me to more custom place. Great place to pick up a gallon of milk & a toilet plunger both at the same time! Seems Menards is adding groceries to their vast selection of hardware, not such a bad thing. Apparently, we Americans like convenience. Regardless, Menards has a great collection of hardware items & groceries too.. But, in some cases the hardware quality is a notch down from Home Depot & Lowes. A whole 2 notches down from Ace. Basically, the buget brands. Like the jingle says, you will save money at Menards. Save more money by taking advantage of the 11% rebate offer, the offer takes place every few months. Rebate bucks are only redeemable at Menards for more swag. The BBQ department is stacked! Plenty of cool grill tools to entice you. They also have the best deal in town for propane tank exchange. The price is a couple bucks cheaper than anywhere else & makes a decent difference when exchanging multiple tanks at the same time. The website is archaic, more like an electronic add for their weekly specials. Caution in the parking lot!! An over abundance of seagulls call Northridge Mall home, taking refuge on the roof tops. As George T put it - the jingle does get caught in your head. This location is huge and new(er) that offers pretty much everything you can imagine for your home, work, and lawn. This is a no-frills store that allows you to get cheaper prices for similar products or discount brand products. You do have to go out of your way when it comes to flagging down a staff member to get help on what you're looking for. Mendards always advertises weekly in the free magazine and papers so check the local rebates and coupons to snag some of their weekly promo items for even less money. This location has ample parking in their private lot, have a propane tank exchange system out front, has a large garden center, and much more. It's a good go-to for supplies for your home, warehouse, or lawn. read more

It's a nice, clean, and big store with a lot of selection which is good. The prices are reasonable, too. The cashiers were kind of rude. They weren't friendly. Also, my uncle bought something from there to fix our bathroom outlet and he couldn't finish fixing it because the product was broken, so there's that as well. Went there to pick up a chest freezer I ordered online. It was ready, it was put on a cart and they helped my put it in the car. Great place, love my local Menards. Can be hard to find eager helpers in certain sections, we did a lot of chasing people down in bathrooms and lumber over the years but today was great service. read more

An exact duplicate of the West Milwaukee store, only not as crowded. The search for my Mother's Christmas present sent us on a scavenger hunt of several of the Milwaukee area Menards. My preferred store is the Waukesha store. You know I'm a sucker for that moving walkway they have out there. The on-line app said that they had one of the things I was looking for for. Only half expecting to find it there, we made the trip. Of course, it was not in stock. The West Milwaukee store claimed to have one also. Not wanting to waste more time, I shelved the idea until I could get to the Oak Creek store later in the week. They supposedly had several in stock. Later that day, we happened to find ourselves on the north side of town. We decided to give it a try, this store supposedly had plenty of what I was looking for. I was struck by how huge this store was. I had no idea. It is laid out as an exact carbon copy of the West Milwaukee store, so I knew exactly where to go. Even the one-gallon cans of baked beans were exactly where they should be! We were in and out in a snap. What struck me was that this store was deadsville; the parking lot was empty and the store was a ghost town. Maybe because it was a Sunday and the Packer game was set to kick off in a few minutes, but it was the last Sunday before Christmas. I would have expect at least a healthy crowd of procrastinators. Maybe the ghost of Northridge keeps people away. Maybe. I really have no complaints with this store. It was very clean and appeared to be well stocked. The parking lot is ample. At least twice a week when checking out the price is different than what is posted at the display. Bulk pricing is often not given, frequent prices just come up wrong, other times sale signs are not taken down for several days after sale has ended. Then to get the sales price it is like dealing with idiots, so a 15 minute stop to pick up an item or two turns into an hour. Can't stand any of the managers they have ever had at this store. None of them know anything about making customer happy and this shows with many of the employees in the store. read more

What a waste of my time!!! Horrible customer service. Asked, I believe a manager for help to find a moen shower knob. I first had to wait for him to finish his discussion with an employee on the reason why someone was fired. Then he pushed me off on another employee stating he was the "shower knob expert". I had the original knob with me. The one the employee picked out wasn't an exact match, but he reassured me that it would fit. I asked a 2nd employee to direct me to where the weatherstripping was. She sent me in the wrong direction. If she didn't know, why didn't she just same that?? While walking in circles, I ran into the same manager & showed him a picture of weather stripping from their website I was looking for. He took us to the aisle it was in & pointed. No offer of help to find it or anything. We finally get to the check out & the cashier has a bad attitude. Like she was mad that we went in her lane to checkout. Can it be any worse you ask??? Oh yes it can!! When we got home, the knob the "shower knob expert" picked out didn't fit!! I normally go to Home Depot to purchase items for the house. Their prices tend to be higher, but I always get the help I need no matter how many questions I have. Don't waste your time @ this Menards!!! Now I have to go back & get a refund for this shower knob. More time wasted. I won't make that mistake again. Sorry Home Depot..... I learned my lesson!!! read more
