Had the worst experience ever there. After having the car we were told it would take 2 1/2 hours to be completed. Returning 2 hours later, we were told they needed a new part because it was cracked but should be done shortly. 90 minutes later, I checked on the car and there was NO part. When I questioned them, they didn't take responsibility for not telling us they didn't have the part yet. Who tells you it would be done shortly only to wait 2 hours before it's finished? read more

2 Great experiences! I highly recommend!! Aug. 2018-Upon arrival from IN we got a flat at the neighboring Condo office to ours where we were to check in at & Bill's was sent via my insurance company. He, whose name I've forgotten-sorry!!- arrived quickly, was friendly, fast with the spare and helpful in trying to assess my tire. After suggesting a closer Walmart could repair it easily I asked if they would if I so choose. He said yes. The next evening Walmart had a 2 hr wait & I preferred to give Bill's my money anyhow so I drove an easy 4-5 min out of our way to them. I am so glad I did! Absolute scammers, stay away at all costs! They picked up my car 2 miles from their shop and charged $481 just to take my car back, zero repairs. a $40 fuel fee Admin fees, etc. Was quoted $1489 for them to change my PCV valve. Even worse, l calles at 9 am so l could pay the tow bill giving my trusted mechanic ability to take it. Said l couldnt pay over the phone, they would text me a link. 3 hours later, l call back and they said sorry yes we do have the right number, it will be sent soon. Another 4 HOURS, and nothing! As if they hilding my vehicle hostage! I didnt even complain about the cost, just wanted my car back! Finally l told my mechanic to meet me at the location before they close and l will pay in person so he can take the car. BTW, my vehicle will be repaired for $440, parts and labor. Bills towing quoted me at $1489! I feel sorry for the next guy breaks down on the interstate, and calls this place, truly! ZERO STARS STAY AWAY. read more

AAA sent them out to change the tire on my travel trailer. Had to wait awhile then when I came back several hours later the tire was not changed. No call-no note nothing. I called them back and a dispatch manager rudely told me my trailer was too big (trailer weighs less than my truck and has lower clearance than my truck). I asked if they were going to send someone back out - she said no and canceled the AAA order. So I went to Walmart and bought a $30 jack and a lug wrench and did it myself. Would NOT recommend this place!!! read more

If I could give them 20 stars I would! I had locked my keys in my car, so I called Bill's and he was there in less than 10 minutes! When he came he informed me there would be a charge, and being unemployed I don't have the funds, and he very nicely waved the fee for me!!! Now, don't come to him expecting it to happen every time, but Bill's kindness gave me hope and made my day so much better! 10/10 recommendation for anyone needing a towing company! Not sure what happened but have used Bill's auto repair for years, last 2 times took extrodinaire amount of days one ime for a gas leak was not repaired properly had to take it back can I say DANGEROUS! Another time brakes what should take a couple of hours took 5 days! Another time bought NEW tires drove the Van a short time and noticed a missing hub cap was told not their problem. I believe the hub was not fastened down had all 4 when I took it in! Another time took my Volvo in for a headlight bulb burned out told by a young man after he worked on it for an hour sorry can not fix it take it to your dealer, which I did and 3 min. was new bulb working fine. The problem I assume is more money in installaling the breath tests in the drunk driving cars and not paying attention to loyal customers. Now I have to find another mechanic I can use. But rest assured as said to many times at this business "NOT A PROBLEM" Towing has always been smooth though and fair. read more

These guys are either: very good or very versatile or else everyone else can only do local towing and/or Badgerland Towing has a nice employee, because 1) Badgerland towing suggested I use Bill's when I needed to tow my car to Madison from Baraboo (he only has a wrecker truck and can only do local towing) and 2) my State Farm Roadside Assistance program used them. As for my direct experience with them, it was very good. I called and got an estimate for towing my vehicle to Kayser Nissan in Madison from the Baraboo airport (it was basically $310 if you're doing comparison shopping) and then got an estimate from State Farm Roadside Assistance to get my vehicle towed the same route (it was basically $90 because they'd pay the first 15 miles and had some deals/volume discounts or something). I obviously went with the cheaper option (even though my insurance would have paid either way, since none of the local shops could service the part that'd need to be repaired and would charge me hundreds for the repair whereas any Nissan dealer would do it under warranty for free because there were enough complaints already about the part breaking) and they told me that the truck would be there in an hour. Pretty much an hour later they called and let me know the tow truck was there. I went out, gave them the key and then stuck around to see what happens when your car needs to be carried away (and not on any of its own wheels) and saw how you can activate a hidden switch so you can shift the car into neutral when the car can't be turned on and then how the tow truck works as they got my car ready for towing (and then I left as I figured the rest wasn't going to be interesting or informative). The next day, I called Kayser and found out my car got there safe and sound and was being worked on. The only hitch that happened was that the tow truck driver gave the key to the sales manager and the service department couldn't get into the managers office until the manager arrived for work (which I think is Kayser's fault, since they should know who should get the keys when cars are towed to their location)! read more

My sons car broke down on a Sunday night on the interstate, his insurance company had a tow company dispatched but the state patrol called Bills. We were going to have towed to a different repair shop but we were told by the driver Bills has a repair shop and would have time to repair on Monday morning. It was quite evident the problem was a broken plastic pulley that I was able to witness with the tow truck driver but was charged a 90 dollar diagnostic fee. The repair should have been more in the 300 dollar range which would include the parts at 70 dollars but was charged 475 dollars. It appears to me they know you are stranded and the prices were inflated. That said, he was back on the road by noon the next day. read more

I am really late in reviewing Bills Towing but I have to share the experience I had with other travelers or anyone in need of good, honest auto repair. First of all, I was a woman traveling alone with two teen girls, a toddler and an infant. I wanted to take them to enjoy a weekend in the Dells. As soon as we arrived at The Wilderness Hotel, I noticed my 'check engine' light was on. I assumed (or rather hoped) my engine was just hot or something. We unpacked and checked the hotel out and decided we would go in to town for dinner. When we tried to leave, my car (2008 Suburban) had a warning alarm I had never heard before and 'Turn Engine Off Immediately' was displayed on my dash. I did just that and then I panicked. I didn't know what to do. I called my husband who offered to come up but it was a long drive and we would still have to get the truck home. I decided to research local auto repair shops and found Bills. They were there to pick my car up within 20 minutes and told me they would call as soon as they had an update. Within about an hour the mechanic called me to tell me my oil was black and down to only about 3 quarts. He checked the engine to make sure I hadn't done any major damage and gave me a double oil change to wash out any old, burnt oil. They also came to pick me up. The whole ordeal cost less than $120 which is a standard tow in Chicago. I believe it's important to pass this story along because I could have very easily been duped into huge repair costs and parts I didn't need by an unscrupulous mechanic.
