The attached photo does not accurately depict the severity of this situation. ,The Tacoma was on the verge of sliding off the edge of a hillside and rolling. The driver side front and rear wheels did not have any traction because the sand kept sliding down the hill/Cliffside. Bill is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to off-road recovery. My car wasn't able to get through a deep patch of snow while driving on White Mountain Road, and ended up sliding down a hill. As this was late in the day, I was skeptical that anyone would be able to help recover my car before sundown. I was almost two hours from the main road, so I was getting ready spend the night in a slanted car at 11,000 ft! Luckily, I was able to get in touch with Patty over the phone and sent her pictures of the situation. Both her and Bill arrived a few hours later (in the dark!) with their very capable vehicle and tools. After some initial struggling, we were able to recover my car from the side of the hill. No damage to my car as well. The steepness of the hill, combined with the narrow dirt road and deep snow made this recovery especially challenging. But they were able to work through it successfully. I found myself and my Jeep sinking in a pit of mud 3hrs up an off-road trail in the coyote flats area. I was by myself and digging out/rock piling wasn't working. Luckily I had some cell service and was able to find Bill's Towing Recovery online. Patty answered the call and was really nice over the phone. I already expected it to cost a lot but it wasn't that bad. Considering it was nearly a 6 hour round trip for Bill and that's all off road! I made the call around 1 and Bill left around 3. HWY 395S north of Bishop on the Sherwin Grade. Travelling 65MPH, downhill and gaining speed, in a JACKED UP Chevy one ton long-bed and a giant 3800# cabover camper atop. BAMMMMM! The rear left WHEEL stripped of all lug nuts, comes off, bounces down the freeway and we are SKIDDING on the rotors trying to maintain control! Oh what the HELL!. Long story short, its Friday before Memorial day, and with COVID, not only are shops closed, but those open, are closing early on this day. AAA does not cover a tow (its considered an RV Insurance). BILLS TOWING to the rescue! They arrived in a few hours with a long bed, put the truck in 4WD and (pulled it) onto the tow-bed. SKETCHY! We arrived safely at A&L Tire shop. Could have been fatal. The CHP (Officer Hudchuck) and everyone in town know Bill & Patty. $200-$275 an hour, but when you are stranded on the side of the freeway with big rigs zooming past on the downhill, its worth every penny. Cracked our transmission pan while we were camping up in the Inyo National Forest just West of Bishop. Local Sheriff gave us the number to Bill's Towing. Patty sent Bill up the mountain to diagnose our problem, and brought us down to Bishop. Bill went back up a few days later with our part to replace the pan and oil (bonus note: he researched on line on how to work on our new 2018 Grand Cherokee), then drove our "city" Jeep down the mountain to Bishop. Everytime we called, Patty was very patient and clear about when Bill could help us. They were wonderful to deal with during this stress of the ordeal and I highly recommend everyone carry their number when driving the forest trails around Bishop!!! Bill is the type of man that myths and legends are based around. He has over 40 years of experience with standard and off road recovery and the stories and gear to prove it. I went up to Coyote Flats for an adventure filled weekend of camping and exploring. Our trip was going smoothly until we began to leave, which is where the real excitement began. As we were heading down from the flats we got stuck in a very sticky situation with my brand new 2017 4Runner TRD Off Road essentially dangling off a cliff. After getting helped off the mountain by the good folks at the Inyo Country Sheriff, we finally made it back to Bishop with my truck still stuck at the top of the mountain. Stressed out and tired from camping for 4 days, I wasn't sure who was going to help us get out of a bind. I eventually found Bill's towing through yelp and some google and got in contact with Patty who is one of the sweetest straight-shooters I've ever dealt with. She was very upfront and honest about recovering the vehicle and all the costs that would be incurred. I knew the situation was going to be expensive to solve. But I also knew that Bill was the man for the job. Sure enough, a couple hours later, Bill and his team of super heroes geared up some UTV's with recovery gear and we were headed back up the mountain to get my vehicle. I wasn't even worried about it getting recovered because my gut was telling me I was in good hands. This company's service was a total failure. My car is stuck in sand on a dirt road, 5 miles from the nearest paved road. It just needed a pull. This company was referred by another company, which was referred to by AAA. I spent 24 hours waiting for them in the middle of desert in 105* weather. They did not arrive, nor did they give me any time estimate. What they did is negotiated the price (which is very high) and talked me: "Yes, we are coming soon. We will call you when we start going your way." They never returned a single call, and at the end they just stopped answering my calls at all. Called Good Sam (Platinum member) emergency roadside who were not only worthless, left us hanging for 4 hours then abandoned us saying so sad, too bad we can't do anything Maybe call back tomorrow about noon. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Bills towing however they did get us off of laurel lakes road, is dishonest and disrespectful over the phone, they even charged more than what they said they would charge and took their time talking to us and stopping twice to use the restroom as well as to take pictures on the way, and their driving was as any other person paid by the hour driving as slow as they can, after recovering my car I made it down faster than them in my stock Kia Sorento with two wheel drive then they did with their lifted land cruisers with large tires. When I called to discuss the unfair time that they charged us, over the phone I was disrespected and disregarded as well as hung up on. Would not recommend, all though it is "cheaper than some others" they didn't help us until more than 24 hours from when we contacted them first, and the experience was terrible. read more

We were stuck on the side of the 395 in 105* weather on a Sunday afternoon with a blown out tire on our trailer. Most places weren't even answering their phones. Bill's stopped to pick up a replacement tire, brought it to us, took off the old tire remnants and put a new tire on our wheel (no spare accessible on our trailer) on the side of the road. Bill and Patty came to the rescue of a woman and her dog up on Casa Diablo Rd where her RV (that weighed more than an aircraft carrier) was stuck in the middle of a sand trap. My friend and I were just driving by when we were flagged down by the woman and her dog and we knew we couldn't do anything but dig to China with no results. Thus the call to Bill's Towing who by the way we're the only ones who would come to her rescue. Bill and Patty assured the woman and her dog that they would pull her out and that they did! My advice do not ever call anyone but Bill's Towing for all your needs (towing that is). After they save your @## for whatever reason...go buy them a beer or better yet rate them on Yelp (5 stars for sure) and bow to them because they deserve it! We had a great experience with Bills towing! We had a slide off 25 miles into INF. We were fortunate enough to be able to call from our location and provide the required info -- which was totally reasonable for them to ask for given they need to cover their time in the event we got help from someone else and were gone when they arrived. We called at 8:30AM and they stated it would likely be the afternoon that they would be able to arrive. They came at 5:30PM and had the jeep out, turned around and headed home by 6:30PM. They stayed in communication with us for updates and were truthful and forthcoming about pricing before leaving their shop. They were also very respectful onsite. I say this because when things go south in the mountains, it's usually either because of bad luck or judgement. For me it was both. They were respectful and didn't belittle me about the situation I got myself into. They even called the next day to make sure we had made it back to OC alright! After reading some of the other reviews, I can see where there are some misunderstandings with their service.... Things to keep in mind: - Things don't happen fast in the mountains. This isn't a 30 min wait to jumpstart your Mazda Miata in a McDonald's parking lot. Hunker down or Hike out. - They provide an amazing value for the service they provide. If you don't agree, then find someone else to come get you out. Not a lot of options, Right? Say "Thank you". They could be charging A LOT more. read more

Very disappointing experience. Called for assistance and they told me they could be there to help after a two hour delay. Three hours later they still had not arrived and still told me they were two hours out. The lady made me jump through a bunch of hoops to make payment, and after sending emails with the information she requested, she claimed not to have received them. Very, very poor customer service. Don't waste your time waiting for hours like I did. This inept old truck and driver said wrenching an RV 24 feet is too difficult for him because it was parked on dirt. He talked for 30 minutes about how this job was too hard. Well the next morning me and my buddy moved it in 8 minutes time, then had a professional tow service move it to its new location. Our roadside assist sent Bill out on a Monday night when our diesel wouldn't start after a long cold weekend. Patty was who we initially talked to on the phone and she was very friendly and helpful. When Bill came out, we tried to get the car jumped but it wasn't working because of other issues. Bill explained the issue (diesel fuel was frozen which can't be fixed without a lot of heat on the engine which was not possible in a carport in single digit temperatures), told us what we needed to do, and helped us as much as he could. The name says it all. Bill himself came out and rescued me in my 2010 Corvette after a rabbit took out my front end. Every shop I called insisted that they needed to tow me on a flatbed truck, whatever that is, and was asking an astronomical amount. I called Bill after I got my truck stuck in a small patch of snow on a fire road near Convict Lake in Mammoth. Couldn't move the truck up or down without crabbing off the trail onto a steep hill! Every other tow company was low on staff or would not go off-road (it was a Sunday afternoon). Bill and his son Peter were able to get up to us easily in their old FJ, and expertly winch my truck square back onto the trail. We met them back in Bishop to pay and swap stories. We were stranded at a campsite in Mammoth with a trailer whose brakes had locked up. We called many people (including the manufacturer of the break system) and no one knew why this happened or what to do about it. We were told it would cost $600 dollars to have someone come out to assess or $900 to tow it or both. We were fortunate to call Bill's Towing in Bishop, Ca. and spoke with Patty who told us if we waited, we could speak to Mike who might be able to help us. We waited and I am so glad we did! He was able to direct a solution that instantly released the breaks. He did this out of the goodness of his heart and went above and beyond to help us get out of a horrible situation. My RV had a flat tire yesterday at Bishop. I called Good Sam they were sending Bill's towing and I was told it's gonna be1 hr and 40 min wait. My wife and I were sick. I could hardly stand up. So we waited patiently for 2 hrs and a guy came but it wasn't Bill. It's Alex from Britt's Diesel. Alex told me that he was contacted by Good Sam and was told Good Sam was gonna call him after verifying some information with me. Alex stated Good Sam never called him back but still decided to check us out and see if we've been helped. While he was talking with Good Sam rep on the phone, Bill's towing finally showed up after 2 hrs and 15 mins. I asked this guy from Bills, he never introduced himself, if he has a tire to replace my flat instead of using the spare. He said I'm here to put on your spare. Good Sam rep was still on the phone so I told the Bill's towing guy to give me a minute so I could ask the rep something. This Bill's towing guy said, I DONT HAVE MUCH TIME TO WAIT. I HAVE A LOT OF CALLS TO GO TO. I could not believe someone who let you wait for 2 hrs and 15 mins said that. So I said "I waited for more than 2 hrs for you". Then he turned around and left. He was very rude. Luckily the other guy from Britt's Diesel was still there. I asked Good Sam if he can do the service and was approved. While visiting in the Eastern Sierras we decided to off road our car. Not know the area well we got stuck. Thank goodness for Bill's Towing coming to my rescue. I had called around the town and no other company was willing to take their trucks to the spot that I had my car. I was off a cliff and the only thing holding the car was a tree trunk. Bill and his friend came out, His friend owned a Jeep rubicon and said "I wouldn't even take my jeep up that" they were all surprised that I had a chevy blazer up it.
