I think I did a phenomenal job at Tetris and Dr Mario. We had such a good time and want to make it a Black Friday tradition. As we were leaving my daughter spent $2 on a play to win plushy claw machine. She was able to grab the stuffed grape boba so her day was made. Street parking was ample and easy. read more

Bill's Midway is an AMAZING place!!! Yelp really should host an event here. It is full of retro "quarter"games from 1934 to 2012....It even has the first video game ever!!!! I posted a pic of it and its history. It is wall to wall games including several iterations of goal related games like hockey, pinball, fighting games, driving games etc! Billy's also has my favorites! Galaga, Centipede, Ms. PacMan, Joust, Phoenix and Robotron!!!! The place is clean well organized and the owner Billy is super knowledgeable about the history of the games and is also a super cool guy. It has a nice flow of traffic and am shocked more people do not come. I have been there twice and we have spent a minimum of 3 hours each time. So if you are in NYC or NJ or anywhere this is a great place to relieve the past without bugging your parents for quarters. Only wish is they had foosball! Such a gem of a place! read more

Billy's Midway is located in the same building as the Celtic Corner Restaurant and Hawthorne Theater. It's on the second floor with elevator access available. We parked on the street but there appears to be parking under the building. Entering they give you lanyard with your entry time marked on it. Billy's charges by the half hour until it maxes out at $30 for the day. The selection of arcade machines at Billy's is all retro with nothing after 2012 according to their website. This means they do not have any of the modern arcade cabinets you'd see at family fun centers or the newer pinball machines with video screens. What they do have, is numerous rows of well-maintained arcade cabinets. I have been to my share of Retro Arcades, and they had machines here I had never seen before including Rush'N Attack, Black Tiger, and Bagman. I saw no broken cabinets on the floor, which was very impressive. They also have the largest selection of cocktail table cabinets I have ever seen. General classics Billy's has included Marvel vs. Capcom, Mortal Combat II, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Revolution X, and The Simpsons. They also had a shuffle bowling machine and air hockey. In the back are two rows of pinball machines, with many of them being very retro. Machines that interested me included Terminator 2 and Dirty Harry, but Dirty Harry had a ball jam that rendered it inoperable. They also have a nice Strikes 'N Spares pinball machine that was almost always busy. Bathrooms are available near the main entrance, but you need to ask for the key. Overall, Billy's Midway is one of the best retro arcades I've ever visited and absolutely worth a stop. read more

Man this place is awesome! It's free play and you are charged only for the time you are in there. Easily could spend 2 hours here - we did! It's great since they have tons of classic games, pinball, Tetris, space invaders, and some newer things like air hockey and racing games. I don't care if you're a 14 year old in a 60 year old body or an actual 14 year old, you will love this place. Billy does a fantastic job maintaining these 60s-90s arcade and pinball machines. That is not an easy task and every game is playable as if it felt new. Billy also swaps his games regularly to keep the arcade fresh each time you go in, while the staple games remain in place. The addition of AfterBurner was awesome. I hope this game lasts a long time. If you go and have fun, let Billy know. He is usually around and appreciates kind words. I have always passed by Billy's and wanted to check it out. Had the chance this past weekend. Parking is on the street. I went there late afternoon and is located on the second floor. You get greeted at the register and there is no coin needed, you just pay for time. As of July 2021, it is 10 dollars for 30mins per person and $15 per hr per person. They give you a wrist band. There were so many classic games. Wish they had ninja turtles tho... some games brought back memories. The place is clean and it was not crowded. Did not have to wait for anyone to play any games. I had no issues with any games, everything worked. I suggest putting on a timer so you do not go over your desired time you intend to play. Def coming back here. read more

This place has it all, from fantastic pinball machines, which have been restored and adequately cared for, to arcade games to even air hockey. The concept is unique and brilliant. A lot of these arcade games become lost as graphic designs for new games become closer to reality. Any gamer could appreciate! The atmosphere has a good vibe. An arcade that I can walk to from my house in Hawthorne?!?! What?? I would have never thought the day would come. Besides the classics, there is a ton of stuff I have never seen before anywhere else. Don't misinterpret classic to just mean very old 1970s games - there is plenty of "nouveau" classic stuff here too - Mortal Kombat 2, Primal Rage, etc. The owner, Billy, is obviously very passionate about what he does. All games are in great shape and lovingly cared for. They are set on free play, and you pay a very reasonable hourly or all-day rate - which winds up being a ton cheaper than if you were to pay per play. Plenty of stuff here to keep anyone from 2 years old to 80 years old entertained for hours and by the looks of it, he is expanding into more rooms in the building. AWESOME place for the pinball fan - he's got Twilight Zone, Whirlwind, and more to come (Addams Family, Star Trek)....very very cool. Can't wait to go back. This was my first time at Billy's Midway. It was a Saturday at noon. It's on the second floor along with a barber shop and a drink vending machine. I received a wristband with my time of arrival handwritten on it. After I received it, I went back in time to the 1980's. There's not an endless array of all arcade games but there are some old favorites in this living museum. It was fun playing some of the games that pretty much no longer exist. read more
