It was a calm and relaxing evening today. The Forks is super chill and pleasant in the weekdays, not as many people crowding the halls... I tried the Roti Shrimp today and the shrimps were succulent and snapped deliciously in my mouth. The potatoes were well spiced but honestly the shrimp was my favorite item in this meal. 3.5 stars for taste. 4 stars for the "cooked just right" shrimps. 4 stars for the 6 inch Roti portion. My quest for the best Doubles found me at The Forks market here in Winnipeg. Bindy's has been here since the Forks first opened as a market / tourist destination serving up Caribbean foods from behind their take out counter. I came for the doubles. Meh. The fried dough came out of a bag, the chick pea curry out of a steel warming tin, and voila...doubles. I guess. Lacking flavour, not enough chick pea, rubbery dough, plus a minimum of $5 purchase to use debit. At least their in house pepper sauce was tasty. read more

Man, been going here since I was a kid, over 15 years. Hate to say it but once the father passed away the quality went down alot. The pricing now is just ridiculous. 15$ for a POTATO ROTI. Takes a long time to get an order. It's rare you can get fresh shells. No matter how early or what day you go. We were here on a Saturday morning and the place was busy! There was just one person working behind the counter. Took forever to get our order in and get our food. I had the Jerk Chicken and vegetable roti. Absolutely delicious. Roti was fresh, and cooked to perfection. Chicken was well seasoned and tasted great. First off, if you've run out of your lunch time special, then don't still have the sign up in the evening. The pulled jerk pork bun sounded so good but apparently they had run out hours ago. The roti was more pastry than filling, and the taste of the filling was very bland. Hopefully just an off-day but Carribbean food is known for its rich flavours, jerk dishes exploding with flavours after sitting above the smoldering pimento wood fire. Just had the doubles here and it was pretty good, but definitely not my favorite. The doubles were chewy and microwaved with some chickpeas on it... instead of crispy and hearty. The flavor of the chickpeas had to be brought up by the hot sauce and was definitely not enough. The server behind the counter seemed annoyed we were trying to purchase something, a few mins after we ordered a family came by that she knew and automatically she perked up. The Jerk chicken Roti is the only menu item I've had... I always look over the menu, but can't resist the jerk chicken. Made fresh in a small, old frying pan, it sometimes takes awhile, but worth it. read more

I'm no roti expert but I enjoy their veggie roti and hot sauce... with a ginger beer to wash it down. It's the only thing I've ordered from here. I'm sure the rest of the menu is good but I'll buy from somewhere else. Service sucks. You'll stand at the counter ready to order and they'll ignore you. They know you're there. They'll glance at you and look the other way. This has twice been my experience. I've seen them do this to other customers too. One girl had to ask, "Are you guys even open? I had a chicken roti and it was very good! I've only ever had falafels, so it was very neat to eat something with the same texture.

The last time I was there, I was food poisoned and was sick for a month. The food is good, but I can no longer trust eating there.
