Very torn to be writing such a negative review as this was one of my favourite Thai restaurants in Winnipeg. We have been coming here for years and the food was both delicious and very well priced. A visit last month prompted us to cross this off our list and we don't think we'll ever go back. We ordered (the usual) green curry soup and we noticed that there was a little fly in it. I was just about to say something to the server when we noticed it wasn't just one little fly. Both of our soups had hundreds of little bugs in it. They were all quite small - mostly the size of ants - but there was more than one type. Some had wings, others had long bodies. We were completely horrified. I immediately wondered if I had never noticed this before. The worst part was how the staff reacted when we brought it to their attention. They brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal and asked if we wanted something else instead. When we got up to leave they casually said 'we won't make you pay' and told us to have a nice day. I'm really quite concerned about the cleanliness here and the complete dismissal of the issue by staff. Personally, I can no longer recommend this place.

Well never visit a new city without trying the Thai food. This place was a short walk from our hotel, The Marlborough. But that's another story. Wine prices are decent. $5C a glass. We ordered the fried spring roll. We brought them back for Katie. She wouldn't eat them either. Velvet ordered the stir fry veggies and chicken. Very tasty and well prepared. I had the masaman curry chicken. 6 out of 10 spice. Just right. Vegetables cooked perfectly and the sauce was correct. Atmosphere was ok. Service was very good. All in all a good experience.

I was craving for some Thai on a cold dreary workday; normally I'd drive outside of downtown to pick up some decent Thai. But I decided to walk from portage and main to the foot of the Donald Street bridge to try Thida's Authentic Thai cuisine. Here's the thing, we're in Winnipeg, we are really never going to get authentic Thai food. So for me, if they come close, that's all you can ask for in the middle of the prairies. Things never taste the same as it does from the country of origin because they have access to super fresh ingredients that we would only dream of! So ingredients alone will make the difference even if it's an "authentic" recipe. Anyhow, this place is super busy on a weekday lunch, especially for a Monday. I thought it was going to be a tiny restaurant but it's a fairly long dark narrow room. Lots of booth tables catering to mostly office workers. The lady at the front was super nice and warm. I asked if there were lunch sized portions so she told me about the lunch specials which includes #30 - #31 and #34 - #41 yet #32 and #33 the panang and matsaman weren't included. LOL. The lunch meals includes 2 vegetable spring rolls with a peanut sauce and your choice of tofu ($9.95), chicken/pork/beef ($10.95) or shrimp ($11.95) and a serving of rice. I chose #31 which "Pad Keow Wan" with chicken in a green curry stir fry in coconut milk. The lunch meal came to $12.27 with taxes. She asked how spicy I wanted it and I told her in a very serious tone "very spicy!" So she said "how about a 10?" and I agreed. You kind of have to max it out at Thai places to see what their definition of a "10" is. Most places tend to keep it pretty safe. I guess the lunch rush was dying down as people were mostly filtering out to pay since I arrived closer to 1 pm. I waited less than 10 mins for my food and the food was piping hot! I was impressed! The spring rolls were deep fried but didn't taste too greasy and had the usual carrots, bean sprouts and mushrooms as filling. The peanut sauce was a bit watery and didn't have a very strong peanut sauce but that was fine with me. There was a very light hint of heat....really faintly in that sauce. Good spring rolls - taste similar to other Thai places. When I opened up my chicken green curry dish I noticed a lot of red pepper flakes on top but once again it wasn't that spicy especially if this is supposed to be a ten! Maybe for someone who doesn't eat spicy food that often, this would be a 9 or 10. But for those who can take the heat, I'd say on a scale of 1-10 this was about a 5. The heat gives you a nice warm feeling but nothing too crazy. But all is well as it was probably a good amount of heat for a work lunch. The green curry coconut sauce leaned more on the sweeter side, which I am not a fan of. But there's no complaints in terms of portions. There was a surprising amount of chicken (all white meat) for a lunch portion and lots of veggies like carrots, onions, green and red peppers, celery and bamboo shoots. Overall, it's an okay downtown lunch spot for Thai though I wouldn't say I'd go running back though the service was very pleasant. I'll cut them some slack on "authenticity" as this place obviously caters to the office crowd considering its location.

Thidas is a great spot if you're looking for Thai food in Winnipeg. It's authentic and fresh. Very friendly service too! They have amazing peanut sauce! Their green curry and vegetable fried rice was delicious! Not my favourite Pad Thai, but they have many other amazing choices on their menu! Worth checking out!

I ordered the 12 oz New York strip with a twice baked potato, and everything was spot on. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, super juicy and tender. The potato was packed with flavor--bacon bits and chives mixed in, just how it should be. They start you off with some warm bread (always a win), and I had a hazy IPA that paired really well with the meal. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and on point. Definitely planning to come back next time I'm in Canada and try some of the other cuts!

Friendly service! I opted for the bone-in rib steak & added lobster tail, twice baked potato & mushrooms on the side. The lobster tail was definitely the star of the show on the plate. The lobster meat was sweet enough, the butter wasn't even necessary. The rib steak was a bit too peppery for me and didn't have the marbling I usually find in this cut. The twice baked potato was good, and I can see how some people are a fan of it. I prefer thin mushroom slices and not the whole mushroom, but again, to each their own. A bit on the pricier side, so might be worth a try if you're around and want a bit nicer of a dinner.

After I took in a movie at Scotiabank Theatre across from CF Polo Park, I decided to dine at this Red Lobster. It was a short drive over. This restaurant has been here for eons. Months after moving to Winnipeg, I dined here with a friend. Things haven't changed much. I got here just past 5:30 pm. Red Lobster shares its parking lot with Olive Garden. I managed to nab the last parking spot by St. James Street. There is more parking across the street near the pharmacy if need be. I've never needed to park there. The beautiful thing about being a lone diner is being able to get seating faster during the dinner rush. I got a two-seat table. Yay! I arrived during the last fifteen minutes of happy hour on a Wednesday. It's between 3 pm and 6 pm on weekdays. I looked at the happy hour menu. It was up my alley. I got these items: - Tropical white sangria - Seafood-stuffed mushrooms Kody was my server. He was polite, attentive, and nice. My only alcoholic drink on this trip was the tropical white sangria. I don't know whether staying in Steinbach rubbed off on me or if I was thoroughly hydrated with non-alcoholic fluids. I felt like sangria, so I got a glass. I loved it. It had Barefoot moscato with pineapple and mango juices. It also had a splash of Sprite, which added bubbles to this drink. It was all good. It was fruity, fizzy, and yummy. The seafood-stuffed mushrooms came out next. I love this appetizer. It's one of my favourites. The seafood stuffing is divine. I love mushrooms. Having the stuffing housed in a set of mushroom caps, topped off with melted monterey jack cheese made this starter so perfect. Classic. Delicious. Happy! It was tough figuring out what I wanted as a main. There were seafood boils that were fairly new. I saw a couple of boils come out in bags at the table across from me. The corn on the cob looked amazing with an assortment of seafood. There was so much food that I couldn't do with after downing an appetizer. Instead, I went with the seaside shrimp combo. I hadn't had shrimp for a while. It had Walt's favourite shrimp, garlic shrimp, and shrimp linguini alfredo. I got to choose a side that came with this combo. I got green beans. I love this shrimp combo. I don't know who Walt is, but I do like his favourite shrimp that is lightly battered and deep-fried. The exterior was consistently crispy and the shrimp were plump. My favourite is the garlic shrimp. I love garlic. I love butter. I love shrimp. I don't want you sitting next to me afterwards. It's pure deliciousness. The shrimp linguini alfredo was so creamy. I don't normally order it, but it was worth indulging. The linguini was al dente. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. Everything was coated in the best alfredo sauce. So good! Green beans are one of my favourite sides. I loved them here. They were the perfect side. Kody came by to get me Diet Coke refills. I lost track of how many I had. Each glass had ice in it. It was perfect with everything that I ate. He asked whether I wanted dessert. It wouldn't fit, which made him laugh. We got to talking about what I had planned on doing afterwards. I had already been at CF Polo Park, exercising my credit card. I thought that I may grab a few snacks at the local grocery store was in order before heading back to Steinbach. I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and tapped my credit card. Done! I used the washroom before I left. It was clean and nicely maintained. It was great coming back to this Red Lobster. It's the only one in Winnipeg and it's still wonderful after all these years. (283)
