Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made plans to go for date night. Settled on the shrimp roll as it had been featured in DDD's and wasn't super impressed. While it definitely had some flavor it was mostly bread and a spoonful of shrimp. Since both "rolls" were quite small I was still hungry after since there was no side even though it was priced at $16. Would give another try but most likely wouldn't order this again. read more

Cute little place in one of the old depot buildings on S Main Street. The outside deck is nice and shaded, providing a nice area in rain or shine. We were there on a quiet afternoon, but the parking seems plentiful which is a nice benefit for downtown places. The menu is not long, but has a good selection of salads, sandwiches and entrees. I love the fish tacos straight away for not using the ubiquitous catfish or tilapia crutch, and have a well seasoned white fish. The braised beef shoulder sandwich is a large portion on a toasted roll. It had a little too much in it for my taste, with the meat competing with pickled vegetables and tufts of dill. Fewer rivaling tastes I think would have been better. Both shrimp dishes were excellent - the shrimp and grits, and the shrimp roll were really well seasoned and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. It's great to have a place like this in the neighborhood, tucked away in an Old Gainesville building. read more

The absolute cutest restaurant in the depot park area! I can't believe we haven't discovered this before! The menu has many choices and they all sounded so good! You've got many options that are not your typical run of the mill American restaurant menu and we honestly wanted to get one of each. The portions were not the largest but we were full quickly. Order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Highly recommend the tagliatelle, ravioli, and spicy tofu sandwich! It's great to have a new local restaurant in town! Located in the complex with Heartwood Soundstage the deli offers an eclectic array of menu items. We tried the shaved beef sandwich, the pork loin sandwich, the sweet potato leak soup, two of the sides, and and the cheesecake to finish it off. Standouts were definitely the leak soup. It's creamy but not incredibly heavy and the almonds give it a delightful crunch. I would rate both of the sandwiches a 4.5. I'm a bread person but if you don't like a lot of bread then these sandwiches might be a bit too thick for you. Also the pickled onion really does bring out the flavor of the meats so I would ask for it on the pork loin sandwich. For the sides, the potatoes were excellently seasoned and tasty and the kraut was okay too. The cheesecake was pretty good--a nice serving for the price and for the size, you can probably share it. We did. I liked the sea salt and was thankful that the dish wasn't overly sweet. There's plenty of seating inside and there are several tables outside, so you can be accommodated at your comfort level. read more

Driving down South Main Street in Gainesville, you might miss this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant and bar. Bingo Deli & Pub is tucked inside South Main Station and I never realize that it and a few other restaurants and breweries sit inside this old building. There is seating inside and out, plus Depot Park is literally across the street so you could even get your food to go if you want to take a stroll. I went with some friends and ordered the spicy shrimp rolls, which were two grilled rolls stuffed with poached shrimp, pickled jalapeño and carrot, radish, scallion, with a paprika aioli. You pay at the register and then your food is brought out by the staff. For some reason, my order took 30-45 minutes to make, which seemed a little long considering the restaurant was not busy at all. Taste-wise, the buttery roll was perfectly crispy and the pickled vegetables provided a zing of flavor to go with the shrimp. Portion size was okay for $16. Overall Bingo Deli & Pub has a nice atmosphere and an eclectic menu. Don't drive by South Main Station without checking it out. read more

Best place for a date night, or catching up with an old friend, or meeting up with a group of friends! Just blocks away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Gainesville. Parking always seems like a breeze. My only complaint is that it's hard to select what to have for dinner. The homemade pasta dishes are fantastic. The salads are unique and fresh, tonight I had the spicy shrimp roll and it was amazing. My husband enjoyed the soup and the shaved beef sandwich to dunk in the soup. The wine selection is very nice and very reasonable. The desserts are always to die for and tonight I enjoyed the decadent chocolate mousse paired with a glass of red wine. I love the vibe there. We had high expectations from seeing this establishment on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. We went for lunch on a Sunday arriving around 1 pm. It was not overly crowded. We waited an hour for our food to come out. Our daughter had an engagement at 2:00 pm and had to eat half her lunch quickly and take the rest with her. I had a bowl with shredded pork. The staff realized the mistake offered menu options and swapped out the fish dish for a veggie dish. Instead of charging for both dishes they credited the fish dish and charged for the veggie dish without asking. The staff could not be any nicer which should not be a rarity but sadly it is all too common as the industry rebounds from Covid. Bingo Deli is our new favorite dining spot even if we need to drive 110 miles round trip! read more

I went there to try their pasta. Apparently they are one of maybe two places in this town that actually makes their own pasta. However it was cold and it was tough and there was not nearly enough food for a $16 vegetarian pasta dish. It also had very little of anything that one could think of as a sauce. It was supposed to have some sort of brown butter or something like that, but the dish was pretty dry. they also don't serve iced tea. I guess if you don't want beer or wine you have to pick a canned or bottled item from the cooler. I wanted very much to like this place, and I may try it again. Tucked away off S. Main Street, this little gem is one of my new favorite spots! The space is so chill and relaxing. Friendliest service from Sarah who gave some awesome recommendations. Charcuterie could easily be the only thing you eat but we were gluttonous so also ordered spicy shrimp rolls (with spicy on the side because I'm a wimp and it stayed on the side) plus shaved beef which was huge and tasty! House made pickles were yum. Came home with one of the shrimp rolls and am looking forward to reliving the experience. Beer and cider options were plentiful and very reasonably priced. Perfect grilled soft delicious rolls with plenty of shrimp and just the right amount of scallion, celery, jalapeño, sprouts and spices! They make it to order, so they will customize to your liking.
