Braised beef sandwich, and shrimp and grits
    John K.

Cute little place in one of the old depot buildings on S Main Street. The outside deck is nice and shaded, providing a nice area in rain or shine. We were there on a quiet afternoon, but the parking seems plentiful which is a nice benefit for downtown places. The menu is not long, but has a good selection of salads, sandwiches and entrees. I love the fish tacos straight away for not using the ubiquitous catfish or tilapia crutch, and have a well seasoned white fish. The braised beef shoulder sandwich is a large portion on a toasted roll. It had a little too much in it for my taste, with the meat competing with pickled vegetables and tufts of dill. Fewer rivaling tastes I think would have been better. Both shrimp dishes were excellent - the shrimp and grits, and the shrimp roll were really well seasoned and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. It's great to have a place like this in the neighborhood, tucked away in an Old Gainesville building.

The absolute cutest restaurant in the depot park area! I can't believe we haven't discovered this before! The menu has many choices and they all sounded so good! You've got many options that are not your typical run of the mill American restaurant menu and we honestly wanted to get one of each. The portions were not the largest but we were full quickly. Order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Highly recommend the tagliatelle, ravioli, and spicy tofu sandwich! The ambiance and decor is what truly made the experience - there's such a homely feel! Parking is easy and available outside.

We enjoyed the ambiance and drinks! The farro salad with broccoli and cauliflower was the best item we ordered

Driving down South Main Street in Gainesville, you might miss this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant and bar. Bingo Deli & Pub is tucked inside South Main Station and I never realize that it and a few other restaurants and breweries sit inside this old building. There is seating inside and out, plus Depot Park is literally across the street so you could even get your food to go if you want to take a stroll. I went with some friends and ordered the spicy shrimp rolls, which were two grilled rolls stuffed with poached shrimp, pickled jalapeño and carrot, radish, scallion, with a paprika aioli. You pay at the register and then your food is brought out by the staff. For some reason, my order took 30-45 minutes to make, which seemed a little long considering the restaurant was not busy at all. Taste-wise, the buttery roll was perfectly crispy and the pickled vegetables provided a zing of flavor to go with the shrimp. Portion size was okay for $16. Overall Bingo Deli & Pub has a nice atmosphere and an eclectic menu. Don't drive by South Main Station without checking it out.

It's great to have a new local restaurant in town! Located in the complex with Heartwood Soundstage the deli offers an eclectic array of menu items. We tried the shaved beef sandwich, the pork loin sandwich, the sweet potato leak soup, two of the sides, and and the cheesecake to finish it off. Standouts were definitely the leak soup. It's creamy but not incredibly heavy and the almonds give it a delightful crunch. I would rate both of the sandwiches a 4.5. I'm a bread person but if you don't like a lot of bread then these sandwiches might be a bit too thick for you. Also the pickled onion really does bring out the flavor of the meats so I would ask for it on the pork loin sandwich. For the sides, the potatoes were excellently seasoned and tasty and the kraut was okay too. The cheesecake was pretty good--a nice serving for the price and for the size, you can probably share it. We did. I liked the sea salt and was thankful that the dish wasn't overly sweet. There's plenty of seating inside and there are several tables outside, so you can be accommodated at your comfort level.

Apple Maps struggled to provided proper directions to parking and it might be because the area is under construction so just give yourself time to find Loosey's especially if going for dinner. It sure is worth the effort though, especially if you get Matthew as your server. He is full of wit and great local knowledge. He charmed our table from our first encounter. Loosey's has to be a local favorite because the quality and freshness of the food is outstanding. Matthew is a local treasure and made our experience there so memorable and fun. We all remarked that it must be so electric there when live music is on stage or it's a Gator game day. We started with the loaded potato skins. There were 5 large pieces that were covered with toppings and delivered pipping hot. I could easily order that as a meal next time I'm in town. Their house ranch dipping sauce that is drizzled on top was delicious. Several in our group ordered the Chic-fil Loosey's, which is a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, but I wasn't able to grab a photo as they were so eager to get started eating it. The portion of chicken breast was extremely large and the batter was perfectly crispy. Both diners exclaimed it was one of their all- time favorite chicken sandwiches they had ever eaten. Another diner took advantage of their wing special and exclaimed the Buffalo Garlic sauce was fantastic and she paired them with their ranch as well. She loved their added touch of the small paper basket topping the plate of wings for the bones. I had the Classic Beef Burger and it was cooked perfectly. There was a nice peppery flavor to the grill of the burger and the patty size was more than I expected. Especially for the price. I was so happy we found Loosey's. It was really good food. I encourage you to look past the construction mess and the "old wooden bar" stereotypes and trust me when o say, they take great pride on preparing high quality food.

Beautiful day so we sat outside in a lovely patio area. Great beer menu with draughts imported or domestic as well as a full bar. The menu was pretty much standard bar fare I had fish and chips and my wife had Mac and cheese. The fries on my plate were covered in salt. I tried to shake it off and wound up with a layer of salt on my plate. Most restaurant food is too salty for me as I cook at home low salt but this was crazy. I decided to try the Mac and cheese. It also had a cap of salt on it. I tried to dig to the bottom of the crock thinking that wouldn't be salty but I was wrong. The dish was prepared with salt throughout. Time to go and I did complain. The waitress said she hears that a lot and she offered to replace our meal to go but we didn't take her up on that offer. The fish was great! And we loved the vibe of the restaurant inside and out. I would go back again but knowing that I would order SALT FREE !!

There is a long bar, sitting area with fire place and an outside area as well. Chris Hart, the owner and brewer is doing something very right here. The beer selection is diverse. I think I counted 19 beers on tap, plus a host of guest taps including cider and wine. They do Belgians right here, but there were also sours, gose, pilsner, IPAs, porter, brown ale, and some European favorites like a winter warmer, hefeweizen and Marzen. The BEER: Wicked Child Belgian Strong Ale 14% ABV... sips like it is under 10%, smooth and delicious, just very slightly boozy. This is the strongest beer in Gainesville The Snow Gose 4 5% ABV... everything you would expect, sour and salty goodness Pucker Round fruited Gise 5.5% ABV... holy wow, a little tonic, and a lot of pucker. For me to leave a review this negative, the service truly had to be poor. Last night, we chose this place to celebrate my Irish heritage with a green beer and some light food. There is plenty of parking and outdoor seating, which is a plus. However, when we arrived, there was a line of people waiting for a table, and it quickly turned chaotic. One woman tried to cut the line, and another wanted to argue over a small booth that her family wouldn't have even fit in. Eventually, we were seated. I understand that holidays can be busy, so we were trying to be patient. Our waiter came over, dropped off menus, said "I'll be right back," and disappeared. After 25 minutes of waiting at the table, I had to flag down another waitress. Meanwhile, at least three tables that were seated after us already had drinks and had placed their food orders. I understand being busy, but at the very least, we should have been greeted or offered drinks. The waitress we flagged down said she would help us, which seemed promising at first, but then we waited another 20 minutes just for drinks. I'm not sure if it was an understaffing issue or something else, but the service was extremely poor. We considered leaving a one-star review, but the waitress did seem like she was trying. The food was okay, we ordered light items, and it still took quite a while to arrive. Overall, we would recommend skipping this place. There are plenty of other options in town that will treat you better. We work hard, and when we go out, we expect at least standard service.
