After several years of cortisone shots I finally decided to have the joint surgically repaired. Boy, had things ever changed since my first visit several years earlier. First, Dr. Puckett does not regularly see patients anymore. That task has been relegated to a nurse practitioner. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. The bad is one of his nurses, Matt Daniel. All of my dealings with Mr. Daniel were confrontational. He refuses to listen and is more interested in being accusatory than actually helping patients. Case in point . . . My surgery was scheduled for December 8, 2022. On the Monday prior, I had an appointment with my cardiologist (I have a-fib) to get cleared for my surgery. On Tuesday and Wednesday I had my pre-op with the hospital and Specialty Orthopaedics. On Wednesday I was waiting for a phone call from a hospital nurse to give me pre-op instructions when Matt called and told me I had to be back at the cardiologist at 2:00PM - the same time as my phone call. I might mention that I live in Cleveland, GA so every trip I have to make to Gainesville is 50 miles round trip and pretty much takes a whole day. After the second cardiologist appointment I went on home thinking that everything was set for surgery. Then at 5:30pm on Thursday evening - the night before my surgery - Matt called and asked me if I had made my cardiologist appointment that afternoon. When I told him "yes" he advised me that that still did not have surgical authorization from them. I asked what he wanted me to do about that. He said they could not proceed with surgery with the cardiologist's authorization. Finally, out of frustration, I told him that I was going to be at the hospital the following morning at my appointed time and that if they wanted to perform the surgery they could and if they didn't, I would go home. The surgery went ahead as planned. But Dr. Puckett refused to address how I had been treated by his staff. He didn't say ten words to me before the anesthesia took over. The surgery was successful. That's a good thing. But I will never use this practice again because of the way I was treated. Charles Massingale

Very rare for a doctor's office. Dr Binkley is knowledgeable and has earned my trust. Not all doctors are created equal and he is proof, all in a very good way. In fact, I was referred to him by two different friends, both patients of his. Two guys, like myself, that push their bodies to perform at high levels. I also like that Dr Binkley is extremely fit and takes very good care of himself.

I was told the thumb was out of its natural position by three other doctors and a real cast was put on. I was much relieved to have an important finger fixed for real and extremely disappointed in the orthopedic surgeons at Northview Associates for neither detecting the problem nor correcting it properly. They refused to admit they were wrong too. I got the impression that they really do not care for their patients at all and were out to get my money or steer me into an unneccesary surgery. Shame on you. Poor service, poor business practice, do not use these people. This is what's wrong with Health Care - $400 for a 10 minute appointment with an incorrect diagnosis and procedure. It was causing her extreme pain and discomfort. In her mental state it's often hard to explain to her that it was going to take time to get her an appointment. I called everyone in Gainesville and Dahlonega area explaining her problems and that we were afraid that it was going to become blood poisoning soon. Not one office could find time to help us in under 1 to 2 weeks! I was given their name and I called, explained what was going on and I was told that no matter what, they would take care of her toe the next morning! Mom doesn't always understand what's going on but he took the time to try to explain what he was doing and really put her at ease. Dr. Gruen had her toe done with little discomfort for Mom and in no time we were done. A very patient man with great patience with the elderly! Thank you sir!

Also, my wife had had a fall and completely wrecked her neck and upper spine. She also had a poor outcome with a previous Surgeon and decided to enlist Dr. Grunch for help. She was able to, after a seven hour surgery, stabilize my wife's neck and get her out of most pain and give her her life back. Dr. Grunch was chosen because she was the only one who'd suggested a disc replacement surgery wasn't just possible but was the best option based on age and quality of life factors. She was attentive and thorough. Following the procedure Dr. Grunch came into recovery to speak with us. She stated that based on what she found while doing surgery, and was not obvious in the MRI and x-rays, she could easily have gone the disc fusion path, however she kept in mind our discussions, consultations, and the desired quality of life which disc replacement provides better opportunity for better results. Because of this Dr. Grunch took the extra time and effort to stay the course and perform the Disc Replacement surgery. I've no doubt my family member, now 2 weeks post-op and doing quite well, will be much better off as a result. Dr. Grunch is an excellent surgeon and anyone needing back or neck surgery would be wise to make an appointment with her. It took a long time for us to get into see her however it was worth the wait. As an FYI, the two other surgeons we'd seen both recommended fusion and stated disc replacement was not an option...when apparently not only was it an option, but the best path. Dr. Grunch must be an amazing surgeon because there were little to no pain issues whatsoever and zero mechanical issues within days of the surgery. We're very happy we listened to our friend who'd recommended Dr. Grunch!
