I am so happy to finally have Binny's in Gurnee! The place is HUGE! great variety of absolutely everything. I visited during the opening and the deals were fantastic! Staff was still getting used to the system and the products, but been there friends, not an easy thing to run! BTW, they have Venezuelan rum, so that's a yaaaay for me! I also placed an order for some special prosecco I like that usually is not in stores, and seriously, within 2 days I got it. Definitely I'm going to order a few more for the holidays! I patiently waited a solid five minutes in the checkout que with no one at any of the many registers. An associate, Callie, finally showed up. No hurried walk, no sorry for the wait. This issue has nothing to do with any store or person. This is a mobile app issue. I emailed the following to Binney's Beverage Depot customer support: Dear Tech(s): In the current economic climate (resulting from the COVID inflation), everyone is stressed to their limits and watching their pennies. This being the case, your shopping experience could be much better--and I know that you can do it because the Peapod company was able to do it. First--for all applicable wet and dry products, please add a line of code for "price per ounce"--not quart, package, etc. (for company input and consumer readout). This gives all products a level playing field so that consumers can know "cost per value" as they make their choices. For those on a budget--which is just about everyone these days--they need to make sure that they get the best product that their budget allows. Second, you need to work on your Search coding. Primarily, add a "price per ounce" search option with "low/high" options. Secondarily, you need to tighten up your search fields and expand the choices. I tried a search on "sugar free mixers" and had to scroll through flavored vodkas, regular mixers containing sugar, etc. EXAMPLE: a search option that will only produce "sugar free" results would be awesome for up to 60% if your customers. (Women 50% generally want lower calorie drinks; plus at least 10-15% of the US population is diabetic or pre-diabetic.) Regarding the 10-15% diabetics, they can imbibe CAREFULLY: They need to count the carbohydrates of each food/drink they ingest. "Pure Alcohol" is a "fat" which doesn't negatively impact a diabetic unless overdone. Therefore, it's very important to include any "nutrition information panel" on every product. As a consumer, I want to be able to input what I want, get on-point results, and be able to sort them based on "price per ounce" (just like the tags on the store shelves). Honestly, since the Peapod company was able to do this with their mobile app, I see no reason that you can't implement the same professionalism in your app. I sincerely hope that you can take your app from the dark ages into the 21st century. I will NEVER EVER come back to this Binny's I was on a Family vacation trying to buy alcohol and the cashier and manger said they couldn't sell me anything because I was with a 20 year old and she touched some peach candy and cups. I'm like she's not buying anything we are over 21 and have I.d's. Mind you my Sister was in there earlier that day and didn't have problem with it. I felt it was racial profiling. One of the few Binny's in the state that doesn't put out any EH Taylor, Eagle Rare, Weller, Blanton's. I've walked in daily when Buffalo Trace product is dropped and available at other Binny's and this place never ever puts any out on the floor. I shop at the Binny's in Buffalo Grove or Woodman's instead, they actually share the good stuff with customers. I think the managers at Gurnee are taking product, probably selling it on the secondary market. One thing is for sure, they DON'T put it out on the floor for customers to buy. I have had a lot of medical procedures in the last year; and I do like my wine. So at times, it's a problem to walk all the way to the back of the store for that Portuguese bottle. Binnie's has 2 services that are free: curbside and in-store pickup. In bad weather or my bad day, the staff bring my online order to my car; on better days: they will bring my preordered selection to the front counter. The staff are uniformly nice, they laugh at my jokes and make me feel welcome. It seems everyone knows me and they are thrilled on my good days to see me walking well, and greet me. I have never had such a good shopping experience as at the Gurnee Binnie's. read more

I can not say enough good things about this store and the staff. Everyone goes out of their way to be helpful and pleasant from the management to the department specialists. If you need recommendations, they are willing to provide based on your taste and are mostly on spot. Many of the store picks in beer and spirit are fantastic. The store is clean, well laid out, and the music is always on point. This will be my go to location for the foreseeable future. Keep up the great store. read more

The craft beer selection is terrible. Most of the selection is from larger breweries that distribute nationally. I would have hoped to see more local brews, but most of the "local" ones were from Chicago. The staff wasn't very knowledgeable about craft beer; when we asked about a top Midwest brewery, they had no idea who they were. Definitely not going back until their selection improves. read more

Went there last weekend. As I was standing in the checkout line a gang of 8 to 10 Indians entered. They came in the exit and blocked customers from the cashiers. Half were masked and half were not. I did not feel safe. Employees did not do anything about the masks and struggled to allow customers a clear pathway to pay for their purchases. I will not be going back. read more
