Came on a day when Grayslake had their farmers market and just wanted to stop by a place for a drink. Love this place!! A nice place to just grab a drink and socialize with friends! I noticed they had board games too. They also had different kinds of beers in cans from different breweries to purchase and take home. We ended up sitting for a little bit and had a drink. As a loyal customer since Beer Bazaar opened its Hainesville location, I never expected to downgrade my rating to a single star. Unfortunately, this incident has left me with no other choice.The cause of my frustration is the unprofessional behavior exhibited by one of the bartenders, Jack. I have included the email I sent to the owner and manager, detailing the specifics of this unpleasant encounter.I feel it is important for Beer Bazaar's patrons to be aware of who Jack is and avoid him by all means.Jack's actions were rude, aggressive, and disrespectful, and such behavior is completely unacceptable in an establishment that has prided itself on being a welcoming, legendary place for beer lovers. People like Jack undermine the positive reputation Beer Bazaar has worked hard to build, and I hope management takes this feedback seriously and not take it for granted. Dear Beer Bazaar, I have been a loyal customer ever since the Hainesville location first opened, and I've consistently enjoyed the outstanding service, friendly employees, and welcoming ambiance at both of your locations. Beer Bazaar has always been my number one choice for beer, where I typically spend between $250-$350 a month, easy. I have never had any doubts about your quality and service, and I truly don't want to take my business elsewhere. However, I had an extremely disappointing experience at your taproom today that I feel compelled to bring to your attention. As usual, I purchased three beers from the store to take home and paid for them using my credit card, which I have a receipt for. As I was leaving, I was greeted by a friend at the bar, and I decided to join him for a couple of pints." As I began drinking my second pint, I was approached by JACK, interrupting our conversation and started scanning the beers. My friend and I explained that the three canned beers had already been paid for, and that I only needed to pay for the two beers from the tap. However, JACK kept ringing up the canned beers, ignoring us. I calmly repeated myself, saying that I had already paid for the cans, and that I only needed to pay for the two beers on tap. At this point, JACK completely ignored my response again and asked his co-worker if I paid for the beers... (the one who had initially charged me for the three beers), becoming extremely agitated. He snapped at me, shouting, "PLEASE DON'T INTERRUPT ME!!" He then proceeded to kick both my friend and me out of the bar without explanation, threatening to call the police if we didn't leave immediately. This kind of behavior made me feel unwelcome, uncomfortable, and disrespected, and I'm now questioning whether I will ever return to your location or recommend it to others. As a high school educator, I teach my students that respect, appreciation, and commitment are essential to success in life. JACK's behavior showed a complete lack of those values, and I believe someone who reacts so aggressively to a customer is not fit to work in a public-facing role.I want to be clear--I don't want to write a negative review about Beer Bazaar, as I have supported you for so long. However, I hope you will have a serious conversation with this individual and remind him that such behavior is completely unacceptable, especially in a customer-service setting like a bar. Until I hear back and my concerns are addressed, I will not be visiting your location. The experience was embarrassing, insulting, and completely uncalled for.I hope you understand the discomfort and frustration this incident caused me. The individual pricing is nice and allows you to sample a variety. They have a lot of local breweries in their stock, as well as Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and national. They even have a couple of local microbreweries. The selection is almost entirely craft and they have a wide selection for a number of breweries. The staff was very helpful, they had a lot to say, identified a lot of new items in stock and freshest IPAs, as well as talked through what they had in stock for a few different styles.
