A quality shop where you can find a good variety of alcohol beverages. I usually go here to get beer and wine and sometimes tequila or scotch. I have been to this location three or four times, and in all my visits, I received good service. The store was clean, the staff members were friendly and helpful, and the prices were not bad at all. I like the variety they have. If I am not pressed for time, then I do take my time browsing through the different variety of beverages they have even if I am not buying some of those items. Poor management from Adam the store manager and the General manager. I was at a Gurnee Binnys and wanted to buy a high end tequila that was out of stock. They called the Vernon hills store and spoke to Adam the store manager about a price match since they had a bottle in stock. I was told the bottle would be reserved for me. I drove 40 min in traffic only to arrive and the manager with GM telling me they couldnt price match end of him bottle. Complete disregard for the time I wasted and not admitting poor communication between both stores. Wasted my precious time! Decided to stop here after a doctor appointment & another errand in the same shopping center. I wanted to get some stout beer for my husband, ingredients for special Thanksgiving cocktail I wanted to make & a pack of Red Bull for my daughter who was with me. We were approached by no less than 6 staff members while shopping. One was helpful with the beer selection while I had my husband on FT since I don't know what kind he wanted & they have some unique ones there. Another staffer tried to help when I was looking for a larger lemon juice as my recipe called for 1 c , but they only had an 8 oz. size. I may want to make more than one pitcher for my guests. After at least 30 minutes in the store we made it to the checkout, I placed the items on counter to pay only to have the cashier ask my daughter for her ID! She said, I'm not paying. She asked again. I said, I'm paying not her. She said I was told to ask for your ID bc you were pointing out things. I said, that's my daughter. Then, some big guy with a headset came walking over & I said, just forget it! F - - - You! We walked out. This is nothing short of harassment & profiling. I have now heard that this location caters to 'regulars' & lies to customers about what stock they have. Very strange business practices considering I have been in sales/customer service industries my whole career & have never seen such behavior. Would never say a positive word about this business. Unfortunately, they give all Binny's a bad name. Go to Jewel instead, it's worth paying an extra $2 to not get harassed. This Binny's has thee most inconsistent policies and the manager is quite rude. I went to this Binny's when I was 8 months pregnant to buy my husband 4 packs of beer and I didn't get my ID checked or scanned. However, I went today and left my ID in the car. When I got up to the register they wouldn't sell my dad the beer without me showing my ID because I touched the alcohol. I'm 27 and wasn't buying it, but yet they needed my ID and never checked my dad's who was actually buying it. They were super rude about it and even when I got my own ID, they never checked my dads. Inconsistent and rude management at this location. The employees were pleasant, but the manager just wanted to fight. I'll never be back to this location. Oh, not to mention, my dad is also missing 3 fingers from an accident and couldn't carry what he wanted, so I was doing it for him. Way to discriminate read more

good selection ... poor customer service ... more training is needed ... my son was asked for ID mind you ... I was making the purchase and I'm of a certain age and he is of legal age? she gave no reason why she wanted his ID ... the cashier didn't even look at it when he showed it to her ... OK i watched this cashiers interactions while waiting and she didn't asked no one else for ID except for me and my son ... and we happened to be the only black people in the store at that time . ... of course there really isn't more to the story the cashers micro aggressive behavior was in full effect. Terrible customer service. Didn't check my ID, but wanted my daughters ID when I was buying the alcohol just because she touched the bottle AND the only reason she touched the bottles was because I'm missing fingers on my hand and couldn't pick it up myself. Discrimination at its finest! read more

Horrible customer service! The website advertised a considerable discount on my favorite cognac, Remy Martin VSOP, and did not mention any quantity limits. A friend purchased entire case (12 bottles) from another store a day or two earlier. On that same morning, my wife got me a case at yet another Binny's store. At the Vernon Hills store, they also did not have any signs indicating a limit. Yet, when I asked for a case, customer service manager Cindy told me there was a 1 bottle per purchase limit, claiming that it was the "company policy." After I opened up Binny's website on my phone and showed her there was no quantity limit, she changed the tune and announced that it was a company policy "to permit store managers exercise their own discretion in setting quantity limits," and that it was her decision to limit purchases of this particular cognac to 1 bottle per person. No explanation was offered, just a very formal "sorry." Worse yet, you could see by her smile that this customer (dis)service manager truly enjoyed showing me, her store's customer, who was the boss! As you can imagine, I left very disappointed and offended. If you can help it, avoid Vernon Hills Binny's store. read more
