Binny's is our favorite adult beverage depot in the burbs. They have an excellent selection of liquor, beer and wine and even a points program that awards you for purchases. If there is something that you want and don't have in stock, they will order it for you. Not sure about a liquor or wine, their knowledgeable staff is there to assist. They even offer delivery too. The holidays is where they really shine, we phoned ahead and they had our order ready to go. I'm looking forward to finding the time to open the bottle of the 1738 Cognac they recommended and relaxing in my well worn leather chair with a roaring fire and enjoying both a good book and a snifter of cognac. read more

I am not a big review writer. If I do it, it is usually for exceptional service or product. I have purchased many, many bottles and cans at this Benny's over the last three years living in Oswego. I have for the most part purchased these one or two bottles at a time. Now that I want to move my liquor cabinet to my new home, Benny's Montgomery says no on a Monday when they said yes on Saturday when they allowed me to take 3 boxes. That was not quite enough, so I was in for 2 more. Which I stated clearly to the three staff chatting at the service desk. This may seem a small thing to many (and it probably is). It unfortunately,is a big deal to me at this very moment. Especially when there are over 10 boxes sitting empty by each cash register. I get that they want to make sure there are boxes for everybody that needs them. It is their inconsistent behavior, it is the lack of placing limits but allowing those in a particular need to fill that small need at a specific point in time without having to make a purchase. This policy needs to be reviewed and until it is, there are other options. Benny's just lost hundreds of my dollars per year because of this choice. Please look at the small, independent person when you are purchasing your liquor. Please, help them. I went to a local store and they gave me 2 boxes quite freely. Even though I had never shopped at their store. Please consider this when you are purchasing liquor and other commodities. Please, think small and think local! Ventured in around the holiday to purchase a gift for a friend and was overwhelmed by the selection! I left empty handed the first visit in store, as I was looking for something specific, but kept overlooking it on the shelf. Help seemed available, but unapproachable. I sat in my vehicle, researched what I was looking for, checked that this location had it stock, took a pic of the label and went back in armed to help myself. This time I found what I'd gone in for. I have been a loyal customer of Binny's and have frequented the Naperville and the Plainfield locations for my spirits and beer needs. I visited the new Binny's store that is 5 minutes away from my home for the first time. Being a Scotch Whiskey collector and always purchasing a new Scotch bottle for every New Year, decided to see the inventory that was available in the store's premium spirits room ( just as the Naperville store). The customer service person let me into the room and stayed with me in the room as I viewed the inventory, I found this odd considering that when I go to the Naperville store, I'm allowed to view the inventory at my leisure and never have been hovered over while looking. When I inquired about a specific Scotch (Aberlour 25), the system showed the store had three in stock. I and another customer service person (possibly manager) went back into the spirits room to see if we overlooked it, when we could not find it, his response to me was that we hop out of the spirits room. I'm not sure if this is a security procedure at Binny's, but never experienced this at the Naperville store. After a few minutes of them searching in the back, the manager came back and told me that they were still looking for the bottle and then inquired if I was going to purchase the bottle. I found this an odd question, considering that I was the one that asked for it. Not sure if my response should have been, "No, I just want to look at the bottle and then just leave". Which was not how I responded. After 15 minutes of waiting, decided to take my whiskey business else where. Don't believe I will come to the Oswego / Montgomery IL store again and experience the security hovering as if I were about to steal something. The Naperville store is much farther away from me, but the customer experience has always been pristine. read more

If you're looking for beverages - this'd be your place. Just don't come thirsty or you will have a cart full of stuff you didn't come for. I've learned the hard way too many times so I chug a couple water bottles prior to entering. Their beer selection alone is borderline overwhelming, but in no way, shape, or form am I complaining about that. If you haven't been, bust out your calendar and pencil in a visit. One could easily spend an hour perusing the aisles so plan accordingly. read more

Such a great store. Friendly associates greet you as soon as you walk in. When I first stepped into the store, I was taken back on how big it was and all the booze! Like, holy crap! It literally had everything and I mean everything. I was in there for about 30 minutes browsing and finally settled on a good bottle of vodka. I was asked twice for help or if I had questions. They are very attentive which I like. Here's the thing... My fiance and I decided to purchase a cigar for the evening. We don't know squat about cigars. The lady associate came to open the door for us to look at all the cigar options. She couldn't answer any questions for us and though she was pleasant and nice, she knew less than we did. We finally decided on a Churchill cigar which smells delicious by the way, and we asked her to help us cut the tip. She didn't know how to or what to do. She just wrote us the slip to pay for it. I would have loved someone to give us information on their cigars or suggest some of their recommended ones. I don't know if it was just her or what, but I think it's important for the employees to have knowledge on the cigars and how that department works since it's such a big part of the store. This store is such a gem and I'm excited to live within 12 minutes of it. I hope to be helped better in the cigar department with a knowledgeable associate. There's a variety of cigars and I wanna learn about them. The booze assortment is crazy awesome. I will be checking this place out offen and next time will get pics! read more

I went in this store around the 20th dec to buy a few items and as usual ended up purchasing a number of things that I never went there for. That is the positive thing in the store. I purchased a few items for Christmas presents and looked at a few sale items and saw that the date on there ran through the 26th, so I thought I would come back, as my car was full of Christmas shopping. I went back on the 26th and went straight to the whiskey that was on sale through that day and saw that the price had not only went back to the "Original Price" from the 20th BUT was even higher than that. The store assistant manager was there and I said that my girlfriend and I came to purchase 4 or 5 of the sale item but the price had went up. I asked if he could check if it was a mistake, as the promotion went through the 26th.? He disappeared for an eternity and then came back to tell me that the promotion finished on the 24th and this was the new price. At this point I asked to speak to the manager as this was an integrity issue here. He was lying to me and he looked guilty big time. The manager never came over after 15 to 20min.. We left the store and have never been back.. I miss the store because of the selection they have but don't tell me lies. Store owners need to be truthful.. read more

I was just at your store at Montgomery Il, I'm very disappointed they way your cashier was treating us, I totally understand the policies and at all time my fiancé and I were wearing a mask, at the time to pay your cashier asked me to get 6 feet away from my fiancé? I told him that we live together and his response was it for my PROTECTION, what he was trying to say? That we have something? Than he was so ridiculous to get out of his register waiting for our credit card to go thru, behind him was another person not even 6 feet apart? So what he was trying to tell us that we had something? That's totally unacceptable, he is so concerned about his protection he should be home sitting down and not making customers feel like we have the virus, Binny's you should train your employees better before you put them to work. read more

Excellent customer service!! This is my go to place for alcohol and every time I go, the people who work there are amazing and extremely helpful! Every time I need a recommendation, they are extremely knowledgeable about the different types of spirits from all over the world. I must say that I've rarely had such a pleasant experience buying potent potables as I did today. One young gentleman named Mike (at least that's what the name tag said) helped me very much. He helped me select the best wines for my wife and I and informed me about proper stemware. I am an at-risk "old fogey" and he just made me feel like a kid again and forget my cane and wrinkles. Glad to finally have a great place close to home to get fine cigars and have a great beer and liquor selection. Every time I go there all of the staff is very helpful. If you are looking for cigars and have any questions or need suggestions, ask for Kyle. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. Tonight was the first time I worked with him and will definitely ask for him every time. If it's beer you're looking for, Scott knows his stuff. I'm not sure they have a beer there he wouldn't be able to tell you about. I'm always looking for something new to try and he has never made a bad recommendation. When this Binny's opened up in my neighborhood I was super excited. So excited I went on Halloween night, grand opening, to check it out. Now the last 5 visits I have made over the last few months have left me walking out empty handed. Im not going to binnys for shelfies or beer/bourbon I can get at my local store around the corner. I am going for limited release or seasonal releases I really want to try. I was hoping this Binnys would be different than the rest but it is not. It is no secret that Binnys will hold their best for who they consider their regulars or best customers. These people will often get a call or text when certain things arrive. Im sorry to say I feel Montgomery is no different. On two different trips I walked in with stock knowledge. I asked for what I wanted and was told verbatim "uh uh I think were out, but let me check." Said employee walks up to another employee who looks at me and then says yes were out. Most employees probably have a good handle of what is in back, but they have a bad poker face when they have to lie to a customer. The pause and Uh Uh gives it away everytime and the surprise that I somehow know what they just got in. Newsflash, with social media word travels fast nowadays. So until Binnys makes it 100% transparent about what you have to spend to be considered "on their list" and gives everyone the same chance to get the same product, I will have no problem leaving empty handed each time and telling others about the practices in place that favor the wealthy and not the thirsty. This is a fairly new location and I am so glad they added one to my area!! Great selection of anything you can think of. Staff is very helpful if you need help finding something but sometimes are not sure how to answer questions about different wines and spirits. Have been buying alcohol from Binnys since the inception of this location. Put my name on the pappy list for the last 2 year. Last year got called and picked it up and put my name on the list again for the next year. Have consistently purchased products throughout the year and even spent about $1000 on a party we had in the summer. About 1/2 way through the year I had let a friend sample some and they asked how they can get it i told them and they went and added themselves to the list. Fast forward to this November upon the release I called and asked the status and was told they would be releasing later because of how corporate was allocating. The manager asked my name and said yes you are towards the top of the list. Just yesterday my friend asked if i picked up my bottle and I said I did not get called. I called the store and asked what had happened and they stated it is based on purchases through the year. I asked my friend how much he spent this year and he said probably less than $300. So based on how the system works for buying rare spirits I would say stay away from this Binnys if you want to be treated fairly. read more

Went in looking for the Smirnoff red white & berry vodka on 6/5 and they were sold out. The assistant manager told me I could special order it and assured me multiple times that it'd be there on 6/8 by 3pm at the latest and they'd call me as soon as they got it. 6/8 comes, I call at 1pm just to check: no it hasn't been delivered. I call at 3 Pm: nope still nothing. I call at 5pm as I'm packing up my car to leave for the weekend & it still wasn't delivered. I never received a call saying it came in or didn't. The assistant manager was nice enough but the lack of communication really sucks since this is the closest Binny's. read more

Stopped by for the first time to do some X-Mass shopping. We've started looking for Czech pilsner urquell that is sold seasonably in 4 packs, asked employee for help, he pointed out some Czech beers but never the one we have wanted and said something across the line that he doesn't know, after that he simply split in a second not to do any more work. Well we've found the beer on our own, loaded the cart with half a dozen of boxes to simply realize the beer will expire in 1 day (EXPIRATION DATE 23/12/2016), another Binny's associate who actual was more helpful started looking into expired to be stock. To conclude I like the selection and the 2 stars are for that but unless I need something very specific (and I do not most of the times) I will stick to my loyal and helpful grocery store in a near proximity. Also given the fact this store is open since Halloween and shelf life of the inquired beer is 12 months (I've check with manufacturer) leads me to think some old stock is being sold there.... read more
