Hidden Gems Wines Tasting Event! Visited Binny's Orland Park for a recent wine tasting event. They had six tables with 4-6 wines at each. The price varied from $10-$56. Each staff member at the tables were knowledgeable about the wines and did good at explaining the region, varietal, and tasting profile. The event was $10 to attend, 2 hours long, and gave one a 10% off coupon to use on anything included in the event. On top of the wines, they have a charcuterie board and water complimentary. My favorite Binny's location. I've never had a bad experience here. Employees are always kind and helpful. Aisles are very clean and organized. If you love attending FREE events, check your emails people. The Monkey Shoulder's truck was super cool; speakers were blasting music and that is the biggest shaker that I have ever seen. AND it spins. Inside the store, there was a table set up with samples of Monkey Shoulders as well as the lazy man's Old Fashion. They gave away so many goodies with purchase. Fabulous. Went in to buy gifts for coworkers--each with different preferences. The employees I encountered were incredibly helpful and kind....and so was the checkout out person. It really affected me when I asked my checkout person who the manager was and she replied "what is wrong "?. I feel like me asking her that made her feel like I was going to complain. I was wanting to let the manager know what a great experience I had in the store. I think this is a good reminder for all of us to let people know when they are doing a good job. read more

The lighting is brighter for reading small print. Checkout is fast once you reach the counter, and the parking lot is spacious. Super nice Binny's! The opened just recently, the former location is just a few blocks away. This one is much less crowded and they have a wider selection now. I found Rhinelander shorties here, which I haven't been able to find anywhere in years. I also found Westward whisky and had to buy a bottle. Last time I had that was like 5 years ago when I visited the distillery in Portland. I had to buy both, also a bottle of Suntory and some Frangelico for morning coffee. And a 12 of PBR bottles for "whenever". The store is brightly lit and the folks working there are friendly. read more

my significant other and i walked in yesterday, i was trying to find gift sets to give my parents for christmas. for the record i am 21, my significant other is not. i found 2 gift sets that contained alcohol, and he found a glass cup he wanted to gift to his dad. at first we didn't know if we were going to purchase anything considering we have never been to this store before, so we didn't even think to grab a cart. one gift set was heavy, so i had him carry one of them and i was carrying the cup and other set. we go up to check out, the lady was very rude to us, just straight up attitude from the start. she asked for my ID, i gave it to her, probably stared at it for a solid 2 mins. then proceeded to ask my man for his, he said he wasn't of age and the only thing that he was technically his was the glass cup that did not contain alc. she proceeded to say it doesn't matter, even if you want to by a candy bar you have to be 21. just shitty attitude, i understand how it looks from an outside perspective, but there's no reason to be rude and talk to my man like that. i proceed to say that this is all my purchase because it was.. and she called over a manger. i'm sorry, i didn't know my man couldn't help me carry something that is MY purchase while i am of age. the manager came over and said it was fine if i the card i was paying for it was in my name, which i was going to use anyway before this bitch made an issue about it. so i gave it to him and he said it was fine. so the bitch that checked us out got humbled, thinking she ate or something thinking she caught us up lmao. that short mexican hoe needs to take a customer service class, and i will not be going back after i saw this is the way they talk and treat people. read more

So yesterday my husband and I went to Binnys. As I walked in I nearly went flying . Apparently they just laid down rugs at the door. There were ripples in all 4 rugs. A man, a veteran , was standing there. He yelled out hey she almost fell too!! No reaction. I yelled hey fix this rug!! Finally a man walked over and they put up one cone. No apology. No one asked are you ok. And for someone with two bad knees and cancer it could have been a catastrophe !! I always try to be careful so I don't fall but come on, make the rugs flat! Use a cone or 4. He walks over and I KID YOU NOT - he looks in my eyes and tells me im "too ugly" to buy HIS alcohol. TOO UGLY!!!!!! Stopped here with my younger sister here to pick up wine for Easter dinner / company. We were excited about the wines we picked out and thought it would be impressive for our guests, and the associate who helped us demonstrated a lot of knowledge about the grapes and producers we settled on. We weren't aware of their ID policy until we got to the registers, but my sister who is in her late 20's was buying anyway. Because I did not have my ID, they would not allow us to buy wine, which surprised me. As far as I know what we were doing was perfectly legal, but we were made to feel as if we were committing a crime and it was pretty humiliating, and it turned our moods. Also I felt like we wasted a time walking around the store and trying to make our selections, so I'd recommend they post their rules a little more clearly in front, as I definitely did not see it. We stopped at Jewel on the way home for a couple decent-looking bottles of wine instead, since we weren't going to have time to go back. The associates were helpful and the selection seems good, but I probably won't ever have the need to go back, being someone who is almost 40 years old who doesn't drink (ha ha). In fact if you're reading this and don't really need to buy alcohol, consider skipping it - you'll save money and... maybe you'll even start to look younger, like I apparently do! read more

Ordering online was so easy! A few items we wanted weren't available, but a store associate called, and we were able to find a substitution for one and just canceled the other. The same associate gave me the go-ahead to head to the store for curbside pickup, knowing about how far away I was from his location. Upon arrival in the parking, I called and was instructed to drive up to the curb by the entrance; my order was carried out and placed in my trunk within two minutes. This, on a late Sunday afternoon before Christmas, with people streaming in and out of the store. I need to be careful with contact during the pandemic. Maybe I just need therapy, but I have this thing against chains. I much rather prefer supporting the little guy and the local family owned business than the national chain. But all in all, this places does it for me for several reasons: 1) Variety. Holy smack, this place has a gazillion types of every spirit and vino and beer you can imagine. That is a cool thing and it also gets us to try new things and experiment. 2) Value. Their prices may not always be the cheapest---to me that is probably whatever is on sale at Osco--but these guys have good, fair prices, and if you belong to their club, you save money by getting discounts and racking up points that get you a rebate at the register. 3) Wine. I love their selection. Hands down, they have the most Italian red wines which are our favorite next to Cabs and an occasional Merlot. My favorite wine purchase is to walk down the Italian red aisle, and pick a bottle of this, a bottle of that, and several cases later, I am out the door. I can tell you that I have never had a bad bottle of Italian red here, and have found some unbelievable blends, and we have become a predominantly red Italian wine house, despite drinking mostly California and French cabs for years. 4) Cigars. This makes me teary eyed to think about it but they have a great supply of stogies. And some nice prices to boot. Having been a 4-5 cigar a day guy when I was married, I am now good for maybe one or two a month thanks to the girlfriend. So I know that is good for me, but I can tell you walking through their humidor makes me long for the old stogie days now and then. Great selection and some really nice higher end cigars. 5) Cheese counter. If you like cheese, and some really nice selections and a knowledgeable staff, then this is a cool part of the store. You will walk out with some melt in your mouth stinky feet cheese that just makes the car reek on the way home. Oooh it is good! So rustle up your mate, hop in the car, and go pick out a nice Italian red with some great cheese and plan a cozy night at home. This could be your starting point for a nice weekend! read more

I avoided Binny's for a long time favoring Kenwood in Oak Lawn and other locally owned liquor stores. Then I visited the Binny's in Skokie. I was so impressed with that location that I felt compelled to visit the newer, more modern looking Orland location. And I was once again uber impressed by Binny's. The selection of craft beer (as well as wine and liquor though I've yet to even venture into those sections) is just...unparalleled. Seriously. Aisles and aisles of delicous craft beer goodness. I managed to snag a Southern Tier Creme Brulee Stout which I'd been determined to find after tasting it at Chuck's Fest. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and awesome. This is a large liquor store with a large selection of items. They have many options for liquors, wines, and cigars. Stop it if you are looking for a special item and they will order it for you if they don't have it in stock. The service was good but it was during the holiday season. It appears they stock up more around the holidays. Why only 3 stars? I don't have many desires to be there due to my disinterest in alcohol. Now I am only giving them two stars based purely off of there customer service. The entrance way is not too far from the registers and when I walked in, I didn't receive a hi or nothing. There were workers just standing there talking to each other too and they looked dead at me and went back to talking. I was in the store for about thirty minutes and not once did someone offer assistance or any acknowledgement. I know some customers don't like being bothered but darn it at least say hi to me. The Naperville location is always ready to greet you and offer assistance or recommendations. Anyway as I made my to the registers to check out, that was the only time I was greeted with a hi. But I will say this. Binnys twitter marketing team rocks! I checked in from my account and they contacted me off of twitter and held a decent conversation with me. That's what I am talking about!!!! That's how you show your customers that you appreciate their business!!! They surprised me because its the last thing I would have ever expected. Great selection of beer, whiskeys, and wines. The rum and vodka selection is a little lacking, but that's okay by me since I don't drink it that often. There are several good tequilas available here but they run a little pricey. Most of the staff members are very knowledgable and friendly. I believe it is extremely important for a liquor store to have staff that actually know their product and Binny's does a pretty good job making sure that the staff in each department really knows the product on the shelves. In the future I would love to see some women on staff working the aisles. There is a glass ceiling that stops at the cash register according to some women I have spoken to on staff. I am sure there are plenty of women that come in that would much rather ask a female staff member for her opinion on what to purchase. Regardless, still a great shopping experience. read more

I have been ordering 1/2 barrels from this location regularly over the past four years and have not had a problem. Within the past month they cannot get stock on my regular beer. That's fine, but CALL ME as you promised if you are out of stock instead of me calling you and finding out on the day I'm supposed to pick it up that the order never came in. I understand that there can be supply issues and this is where you proactively communicating to your customer makes the difference between me continuing to do business with you or going to your competitor. I cannot work with a vendor who has poor communication skills. Get it together! UPDATE - 10/20/14 - The customer service manager assisted me at the store. While I was not able to get the 1/2 I wanted, they gave me a discount on a higher-end barrel they had in stock. That helped. However, it bears noting that she was not given the whole story from her staff about what happened and luckily I had names, dates I called and a true recounting of the events. She did not argue with me and worked to make the best of the situation. I will buy from them again, but know to ask to speak to the manager for my orders to ensure that I receive proper service. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I have never had a drink in my life. Seriously... I know...... I called to make a special order for a Christmas gift. I couldn't even pronounce it. The man on the phone was so super nice and never laughed at me (I would have.) Very helpful. When I went in to pick it up there was a very nice lady at the service counter that promptly got my gift (still can't pronounce it) and was ready to go. I asked her if she could help a non-wine person pick out a couple of bottles. I give her credit. She never rolled her eyes, but I know she wanted to. I was THAT customer!
