The two other Denny's that I have frequented in the greater Toronto area are the Mississauga (Courtneypark) and Pickering locations. They were fine, but this one in Woodbridge is amazing in comparison. This eatery is on the south side of Highway 7, in a plaza that's anchored by a Tim Hortons - Wendy's combo store. Wednesday was my first time setting foot in this plaza. I found a parking spot steps away from this Denny's entrance. I backed my car into it and walked in. I was immediately greeted by the sweetest woman. I asked if I could get a table. She said to choose any booth where I'd like to sit. I chose a booth and I sat looking out the window. I got a laminated menu. I leafed through it. My usual order at Denny's when I feel like breakfast for dinner is the following: - French toast slam - Diet Coke I got my Diet Coke. It was cold and yummy. I was so thirsty that I ended up having a couple of refills. My French toast slam consisted of three slices of French toast, sausage, bacon, and two eggs. I got the eggs over-easy, which was how I used to take them before I got into over-medium and scrambled. It didn't take long for my food to arrive on two plates. The proteins were on one plate. The French toast was on the other. I squirted a blob of ketchup next to my sausage links. I like this combination, although I can do without ketchup if I don't have access to any. My slam was excellent. The eggs were perfect. The yolks were runny and yummy. The bacon was crisp. The sausage links were delicious. I am a French toast fan. They were so good, especially with maple syrup on them. This meal hit the spot. My server was incredibly attentive with my drink refills. I asked for the bill once I was done and she didn't hesitate to find the payment machine. I tipped and tapped, letting her know that the food was delicious. She smiled and seemed genuinely happy to hear it. She does remember regulars who come here. I liked her rapport with a man maybe a bit younger than I am who has been going through a lot of health issues. I appreciated her humanness and empathy. I used the washroom before I left. A man with his son came here and sat in the booth next to mine. They visited the washroom twice, which helped me figure out that it was straight back, to the right of the kitchen. There was a friendly, female server when I first walked in, but I think she was asked to do something else and I didn't see her in the front. Every ingredient was crisp, crunchy, and prepared with so much care--it didn't feel like "just a salad," it felt like a full-on meal that left you energized instead of weighed down. And the smoothies? Incredible They're thick, refreshing, and taste like the best version of clean fuel for your body. I don't frequent Pickering as much as I used to. It was new to me. I flagged checking it out in my head. Last Saturday, I dropped by for a late lunch after completing my errands. My first visit at a Perkins restaurant was in Winnipeg. I loved going there after a midnight shift to get pancakes and more. Sadly, Winnipeg doesn't have any Perkins eateries left. When I lived in the States, there was one Perkins in Rochester, MN. It's still there. I'm so glad. As a resident, I went there for a team lunch and when I was peckish for some breakfast. This eatery is in a plaza. It's next to Shawarma Royale and across from Dairy Queen, which are also new to me. I parked steps away from the entrance. It's wasn't all that busy at 2:30 pm on a Saturday. I walked in. I saw the sign to wait to be seated. I did while taking photos. It didn't take long for a nice woman to come over. She brought me to a booth. I thanked her. This woman wasn't my server, but did get me a Diet Coke. It was a bit off in flavour. I'm not sure if it was the ratio of syrup to carbonated water, or maybe the water. My refill was much better and the carbonation was great. Patricia would end up being my server. She came over and asked if I was ready to order. I was! I got these items: - French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage links - Diet Coke She came over to bring a warm bottle of maple syrup. I have some perks that are waiting or me to use. Although Perkins is American, I've noticed that this eatery wants to tell you that it's Canadian-owned. The ketchup in French's, which is Canadian. On the right was this Copper Branch eatery. It was cool seeing a trifecta row of businesses that I dig. I walked into this Copper Branch location to check it out. It was quiet. I took a few photos and then looked at the menu. A friendly woman briefly came out of the kitchen and let me know that she'd be with me in five minutes. I was good and told her to take her time. I needed to look at the menu. She took less than five minutes to be with me at the counter. She was nice, asking how I was doing. I answered and reciprocated. I asked her what the soup of the day was. It was miso soup. I had just had ramen and wanted something different, so I passed. Me? Passing on soup? Crazy! I got these items instead: - S'mores cookie - Strawberry pina colada I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I have Copper Branch rewards. You pay first and then have the barcode scanned. Done! I got my s'mores cookie first. Sweets from the Earth makes it. I love this brand. She said that I could take a seat and she'd let me know when my smoothie would be ready. Cool! It didn't take long for her to make my smoothie. She let me know that it was ready. I thanked her and wished her a great day. She reciprocated. I got a paper straw and happily left the store. I got into my car and made my way home. I had the cookie and smoothie as I drove. The s'mores cookie was moist and delicious. There were plenty of chocolate chips.
