It doesn't matter what time you come in you will have to stand in line at least 30-45 mins due to them being severely understaffed. The vital check person is also doing physicals, sticks, & new donor check ins. I got here at 8:17 am it's currently 9:13 and I am still standing in line waiting to be checked in. I'll probably be here another 20-30 mins waiting to be checked in and then it's gonna take them another 20-30 mins to get my Iv started! UPDATE I LEFT AT 9:45am after still not being done with the check in process. I will not be returning once my promotion ends.

Upon being cleared to give again, they provided information on how to reactivate it. I have always been treated with respect and care by Vitalant staff. I have gone to the location to give several times, and absent one experience, I have always found the staff professional and easy to work with. My negative experience was surrounding a manager scolding an employee for a brief error, and the scolding was in front of me, thus causing the phlebotomist to be a little flustered. I was contacted and informed her of my view that this was unprofessional and disruptive, and she simply did not care. But aside from that one person, everyone else has been a joy to work with. Currently, due to a probable computer overheating issue, the building is closed because of a fire. Thankfully it was seen and no blood was lost. They are operating outside and in their mobile units. Most recently, i gave in one of their busses at work. Staff was easily able to handle the fluctuation of people, explained what they needed, the sticks were painless, and we were in and out with no issue. Please, if you are able to, be a donor. Some blood types have only a 1 day supply on the shelves... give life!

I usually go on my lunch break but they go slow and I have to wait 30 min after my appointment time before they called my name but at that point I had to leave because I would be late for work. They also ask a lot of medical history and sexual history questions. Things like you can't have a new piercing or tattoo from the last 12 months, and you must be at least 110 lbs. They pay you using a prepaid debit card. For first time donors, it's $50 for first visit and $75 for second. For return donors, it's $25 for first and $45 for second visit in a week. Also there is a $50 bonus if you donate 6 times in a month. The process was very easy and smooth, and there is Wi-Fi. I bought a tablet to pass the time. Only downside is the whole process takes 2 hours (maybe shorter if you're not a first time donors?)

Literally any other employee does vitals it takes maybe 2 minutes but lord when she's doing them its 10 minutes a person and she just has to talk to everyone about everything going on today, yesterday and tomorrow. They told me it was insufficient because it wasn't a house. Ok I understand that. Fast forward to 2021. I officially moved here( 2 weeks ago) and am staying with family. I brought in a piece of mail from - Louisiana Department of Health (Voter registration Packet) clearly states my new home address (which is a house ) and states where all my mail will be sent to. I went in today and I was told I needed a bill or leasing agreement because my proof of address i brought in LAST year wasn't good enough ? I'm confused . What would be more official than a letter from the state of Louisiana ? I am beginning to think either I'm being stereotyped or something else is going on.
