Always understaffed and need to allot at least 2 hours for an appointmentt - even when not busy. Today waited 40 minutes on line just to get vitals taken. I'm not sure why they have an appointment system when they don't have manpower to handle the crowds. Waiting areas are not clearly defined - instead lines snake along the perimeter of the room. No sitting room. Why not have a number system and a true waiting area. The kiosk form is a joke - if you make a mistake you have to wait 45 minutes or more for the nurse to correct the mistake. The record-keeping and communication at this center are unacceptable. I was asked to submit documentation, which I did submit and still have proof showing it was received. Despite that, I was deferred again because the head nurse was not in the office to review my file. This is the third time I have been unable to donate because they claimed they did not receive documentation that was clearly sent. This is not my fault and should not be my problem. I wasted time and gas showing up for a scheduled appointment only to be turned away. If documentation review is required, the online scheduling system should flag the donor's file ahead of time so eligibility can be confirmed before the appointment. There is no reason to allow donors to schedule, show up, and then be denied due to internal administrative issues. I originally sent the required documentation last year and never received a follow-up from Biolife. They later questioned why I had not returned--this situation explains exactly why. I decided to give them another chance after some time had passed, especially since I was looking forward to the returning/new donor promotion, but that did not happen. With today's technology and systems, there is no excuse for this level of poor communication and disorganization--especially when I have proof that the requested documentation was submitted. Friendliness is definitely better Unfortunately a month ago the biometric scanner began not recognizing me for check in I've had to be logged in since and have voiced concern. When they try to re register my fingerprint it won't let them delete the current one. They say it's an IT issue and that they reported it. But nothing has changed in over four weeks. The second time with an apt I stood in line only to be told I have to answer questions before. So back into line. After answering questions 2 hours later I finally get seated. Do not recommend. they infiltrated my arm, made my entire arm swell up and bruise. Had to miss a week of work cause of this. They made it seem like it was my fault like I was dehydrated or something. N sent me on my way. But I wasn't dehydrated I was perfectly fine, until the lady missed my vein or went thru my vein. Can honestly say I'm disappointed in how tgey handed my blown vein that they caused. Tech did it wring right from the beginning and I had to get a new tech to redo the vein on the other arm. Due to negligence of the first tech, left severe bruising on my arm due to a blown vein. Not only is it sore and incredibly bruised, I'm not allowed to give plasma till it heals. It's dangerous when people like this are sticking needles in your vein and taking your blood. If you have any self-respect or care for yourself you will not go here the money is not worth it and besides the pay is only worth it for the new donor it's kind of wild how if you consistently donate the pay is crap but they pay you a lot to get in the door. I was excited about the initial pay of $800 for the first month but after a couple of donations the money even on the initial pay wasn't worth it. Checked in for my third donation. Tech was moving the needle around in my arm to find a vein. Told her she was hurting me. The pain lessened and the donation began. As soon as the blood began going back into my arm, my whole arm began to hurt and the blood was pouring out around the needle. She came over and stopped the donation, cleaned up the blood that was everywhere. Same tech wanted to try the other arm. I said no, the nurse came over and said I had to wait 30 min to make sure I was ok then she went to lunch. Other nurse told me I could leave 5 min later. My arm is still hurting when I move it. They probably gave me a blood clot with the IV. And I didn't get paid, even though they screwed up. Don't go here. read more

So I spent an hour of my life wasted at this place. The nurse was looking for a reason to decline me I don't know why. I'm healthy, and could have helped people. First she starts when when did I eat last I had told her in the morning but forgot I got a sandwich with my daughter. So she says you need to come back you can't give. I have donated at several locations with this company and in many respects It's like donating in the Wild West. The staff is juvenile and sophomoric, they don't understand what the word professional is and at the Pine Hills location I even had a supervisor threaten me because she felt as if I had disrespected a coworker, which I most certainly did not. But, this isn't about that incident, oh no. This is about how this company is now discriminating against people with disabilities. In particular, people with PTSD and Bi-Polar mental disabilities. Apparently, this company feels that instead of training their staff how to deal with people with PTSD and ask targeted questions to flag wether or not they need to modify their donation process to keep from triggering a small group of people who have PTSD, instead they are simply going to not allow ANYONE with PTSD regardless of wether or not they've even donated! Last year O donated 90 times at various locations, never exceeding the 2 donations a week and following every safety and regulation to ensure both my safety and the safety of the plasma receiver. Yet, I am not allowed to donate at all anymore because someone in their corporate office decided that fear and stereotypes are more important than learning and education about what PTSD is and how to deal with people who are triggered. And even though PTSD is classified as a mental disability that is not contagious not transferable to anyone, this company has decided that it will not be accepted nor tolerated. And here is where things go off the rails. When I pointed out to the screening staff that their decision to deter anyone with PTSD is in violation of the ADA laws, they simply state that it's company policy and refuse to even consider the fact that I've already donated 20 times with them in the past without a single incident. They refuse to acknowledge that I've donated over 1,000 times in my life without a single incident. And when you ask for their corporate number to discuss this issue and see about exemptions to this rule or modifications, the number the staff at this location gives out is the wrong number! That's right, they literally give out a number for a company called BioLife, but, it isn't associated with or has anything to do with THEIR company! It's kind of like Giuliani having a press conference at Four Seasons Landscape when everyone knew it was supposed to be The Four Seasons Hotel! And apparently, this happens all the time! The staff at these locations apparently have no contact information for regional and district managers, not do they have information about their CORPORATE offices! So, until this company learns that ignorance and prejudice aren't good cornerstones for creating policy, please DO NOT donate with this company until they lift the ban on mental disabilities that have absolutely nothing to do with plans and everything to do with ignorance and fear! read more

The staff really carries this score or I would give it a 1. They somehow manage to be pleasant and attentive despite being over inundated with donors. At least the donor floor is somewhat staffed though because the real time consuming part was vitals to even get to sit down in a chair. My appointment was for 7:25 and I did not sit down in a donation chair until 8:35. And I am not leaving the building until now, 9:32. I don't know if it is understaffing, or working conditions causing employee burn out, but having only two people taking vitals for the volume of donors is not realistic. If i was not currently getting their first time donor bonus then I would not find it worth my time unfortunately. I can donate and get in and out in 45 minutes at CSL plasma. Then I can actually plan my day and not be late for work when I make an appointment for 2.5 hours before my shift starts. Again, the staff really Carrie's this score. I have tried to donate 4 different times at this location. They are the most unorganized center I have been to. The rules change on a whim on when you can donate, how many hours prior you need to eat, etc. Don't rely on any info on their website because it will probably change by the time you go in. Today was the last time I will ever try to donate there. I waited for 40 minutes for a physical because the only person could do it went to lunch. I come here once in a while for a few extra bucks if I have nothing else to do. They will pay you 50-60 on your first 4 visits and 80 on your 5th. They then hit you with $20 first visit then $50 second. It's virtually painless. Process is usually smooth. Only had one experience where they destroyed my arm. Took 2-3 weeks for the tenderness to go away. Only issue I've had. My veins are hard to find so i understand it can be. But let's not butcher the donor, guys. read more

The appointment set up is so convenient, I had to wait over 4 hours to sign up at a different plasma service last time and here everything went by very fast. I've been donating for almost a year at this location with a positive experience until recently. I believe they have added several new phlebotomists that have resulted in me bruising and developing an arm hematoma. This prevents you from donating until bruising is gone. Therefore not benefiting from the 2nd weekly donation and the higher payment for donating. Not too mention the discomfort of bruising and hematoma. My wife and I made appointments online a week ahead, drove 30 miles each way. Waited 20 minutes to get checked in. My wife went first and proceeded to station 2 and went through the process, 5 minutes later I was called up. The young lady at the front desk was great, she tried to log me in and an error code came up. Turns out I was still registered to another location in another state from 15 years ago. My wife went through and got to station 5 an hour later the nurse disqualified here for medication she has been on for 35 years. I go outside to call the other location to transfer my records, in which they stated Orlando location should have it by end of day.
