I received a card in the mail showing $40.00 reward for next donation . I gave blood WITHIN DATES POSTED was given a $20.00 reward card after donation . I showed the card for @40.00 and was told to call rewards phone number , which I did 6 or 7 times over a 3 day period and left messages each time . It's been a while since I've donated blood - last time was in high school (donated over a gallon). With the COVID-19 outbreak, our local blood bank did not have enough blood collected, so I opted to stop in. Everyone was quite friendly and the process was super quick and easy. No more finger pricks! They have an excellent new machine that can detect iron levels quite quickly and painlessly. Even got a $20 e-gift card for participating! Save a life. read more

I had no idea this huge facility existed! This location is clean and beautiful. I noticed their impressive entryway as a friend & I arrived early for our appointments. We were soon greeted by the receptionist arriving for work, & she invited us in to wait in the lobby until the donor room was open. Soon after, we were greeted by a friendly staff member, & let in promptly at our appointment time. After signing in the process moved along very quickly. The initial question review & iron & blood pressure checks took place, then almost immediately after I was brought into a private room to discuss any exceptions on the form - I had received a flu shot 2 weeks prior, so just a simple explanation moved me on to the donor lounge chair. Not sure if that's what they're called, but I need to find out because it was so comfortable I'd like to get one for my home. Anyway, the gentleman that was working with me knew I was squeamish so he was kind enough to tell me when to look away because the needle was coming. He also asked periodically during the blood draw if I was feeling ok. We chatted a bit but otherwise he just stayed close by & kept me updated as to how it was going. After a short time he informed me that I was done, he cleaned up the site, bandaged me & I was on my way. It took only about an hour total, which I was happy about. They were handing out cute t-shirts and a $10 gift card - it was unnecessary but nice. I also had apple juice & cookies which I normally would've passed up, but hey, I think I earned it! Overall this was an A+ visit in my book: - clean, well-organized & appropriately decorated facility; - hand sanitizer readily available, staff wears masks & gloves, donor masks required, & disposable plastic used around stress balls; - friendly & efficient service; - quick, virtually pain-free donation Bonus - I get to sport a new, seasonal donor tee! I've donated a lot with one blood. I usually walk into a big red bus to donate. Due to covid you can't do same day appointments or walk ins. So I scheduled an appointment at the actual donor center. It was my first time here and I loved it! They staff was so friendly and nice. So clean! Laid back! Easy! I didn't even wait. The staff has the flow under control and was accommodating to each donor. I'll donate wherever I can, but I have to say I will probably be coming to this donor center over a bus everytime from now on. Thank you for such an amazing experience!! read more

I have been coming here since the beginning of this year to help out people in need. The location is off commodity circle on the corner of John Young and Sandlake. Directions to this place is very simple. Once you get here, parking is plentiful. There is a big lot on the left side and a smaller one on the right. My usual donation time is on a Saturday since it's easy. They require a reservation as far is what services you want to do. Donate regular blood, white blood cells or red blood cells and platelets. Every donation will have a recovery time to when you can donate again. Regular blood donations, I believe you have to wait a few weeks to donate again and limit your exercising if you do. I do the platelets which is something that is used for cancer patients. It must be used within 5 days aka "shelf life". When you walk into the room, you will notice everything is clean and in perfect order. The first counter is where you down and give your info about you. They take your blood pressure, iron levels, body temperature and personal questions about your services of the day. They they give you a giant tablet that ask a series of health questions. Once you are done, you walk over to. Series of donation table. Depending on what you are doing, the chairs can be just a simple lounge chair to a more sophisticated double platelet one which I do all the time. I hate needles with a passion but they always do it fast and easy. Still squirm a little bit it all good. Regular blood donations take about 30-45 minutes. Platelet take about 2 hours. You have a choice between one arm where they take blood out, separate the platelets and then put the blood back in (I won't recommend this as it makes your arm sore and cold) or two arms where the machine takes out blood from one arm, goes through a separator which you can watch, and puts back the blood on the other arm. Your arm that receives the blood back will feel cold though. There is a bag that you can watch the platelets fill up the bag which is kinda cool. Platelets is a yellow pee color (sorry for the comparison lol) and if it's clear, it's good. If it is cloudy that signifies your cholesterol is high and can stop the machine which I did once. All in all, I have never had a problem here. There is ways an incentive in donating. From free movie tickets to a $10 gift card, it's a way from Oneblood to appreciate your time in helping others out. read more

Save lives. Mother's Day 2020 the power went out when I was on the apheresis machine at One Blood on Commodity Drive (donating platelets for Cancer patients). There were 4 employees on the floor, 3 apheresis donors, and a blood donor. The one blood employees worked extremely well together to reset the donors machines. One employee was more knowledgeable and guided the others step by step so the donations could keep drawing and thereby saved. read more

it has been a while I haven't donated, i went with my son and the lady that was helping us out made my son feel uneasy, he never donated so she made him feel so worried that he did not want to donate, while she was abouy to start working one she kept on asking if i ate, which I already told her that i did ate.... she gave me the impression that she did not want to help us out... pretty much she doesn't want to do her job. read more

The location is clean and welcoming. For some reason clean always seems to be at the top of my list when we are thinking about puncturing my precious body. Refreshments are always available, and I had a good experience with donating here. The technician that treated me was kind and was a good stick. Every time I've donated at this location, it has been a great experience! The staff is friendly and excellent at what they do. Prior to donating, you go through a mini physical...they take your BP and temp...small finger stick to make sure your iron is good. (Girls make sure your eat iron rich foods a couple days in advance, we tend to have a lower level compared to the guys...if your iron is low...your a NO go) After you get the thumbs up, it's to the chair. Where they clean yah up, Stick yah (pS...I've never been stuck twice) and BAM...in less than 20 minutes...just like that you helped save a life. It's a great feeling! I've been coming to the blood center for about 3 years. This facility is very nice as this location is one of the headquarter buildings. The service they provide is great which is why I donate. As an added bonus for guys donating blood is a health benefit and lowers our risk of heart disease. I'd like to make this a five star facility. However, The customer care as far as wait times is concerned is shaky. I've been in and out in under twenty minutes and then there are days like today. I arrived at 8am and still haven't been called at 8:40. To be noted I have an appointment. Update, I was finished at 9am. I still recommend donating blood here to everybody. read more

The personnel are well-trained, professional and friendly. They treat you very well and are courteous.

I did not have a good experience. First off, I will absolutely take the blame for part of it. I knew better than to donate blood on an empty stomach. However, the staff also should have known better than to qualify me to do it. Here's what happened: They were at my university. We had just had a moment of silence in remembrance for the Stoneman Douglas shooting. The guy on the campus grounds trying to recruit people to donate approached me and gave me this sap story. He said they have barely had any donors all day, and borderline begged me for my help. I was feeling emotionally vulnerable, and his story broke my heart. So, I agreed, and he walked me to the bus. While on our way, I repeatedly told him I was on an empty stomach. I explained that I'm an ultrasound student and had an abdominal scan today so I was NPO. I asked if I could eat before they take my blood. I asked if they were going to check my glucose and hematocrit. I asked if they would turn me away if they felt I wasn't qualified to donate. All to which he very dismissively said yes. He said he would personally let them know of my situation. So I thought, might as well see if I qualify. When we got there, there were a ton of people. So much for "barely had any donors all day". The guy let me in and disappeared. The nurses took my blood pressure. That was it. Not sure if the guy had mentioned it, I went ahead and told the nurses myself that I was NPO. They reacted all upset "why didn't you tell me, I'll check your iron". So they checked my iron. THAT'S IT. No blood glucose, no hematocrit. Nothing. I asked if I should eat before they stick me, they said my iron was "good". I told them but I haven't eaten anything at all, they said I was fine. I told them I also had my period. They said I was fine. THEY SAID I WAS FINE. At this point I had a ton of red flags up. I should have left. I should not have let them touch me. But, I didn't want to be a jerk and leave the blood bus, not on the anniversary of a tragedy. Not ever. So I stayed. Their skills were fine. The needle stick and that entire process was done very well. No pain, no hematoma, definitely an A+ in that department. Thus the 2-star review instead of 1. Shortly after I was disconnected, they said I could leave. They didn't look at me. They told me to leave from across the bus. I thought it was way too soon. Another red flag, but I trusted them. No one helped me out of the bed. No one directed me to take it slow. Obviously, I knew I had to take it easy, but I was surprised how left to my own aid I was. I took my free sandwich and proceeded to exit the bus. I got about 8 feet away and felt faint, so I walked back in. I announced that I wasn't well. One nurse came to me as I sat down. At that moment I lost consciousness. I woke up and the two nurses were pinning me to the bench so that I didn't fall. They seemed annoyed. I could barely speak and they directed me to go lay on the bed. They helped me stand up, but then THEY WALKED AWAY. THEY WALKED AWAY FROM ME. They stood me up the MOMENT I woke up from being unconscious and WALKED AWAY FROM ME. I had to muster up the strength to hoist myself onto the bed BY MYSELF, while actively coming out of unconsciousness. One got me a coke, told me to drink it, then I NEVER SAW THEM AGAIN. They left me there. Never checked on me. Never assessed me. They shouted to me from the other side of the bus "How do you feel over there??". When I asked if I could have something to eat, the nurse told me to GO AHEAD AND HELP MYSELF. When I couldn't even walk. Another patient in the bed next to me who was waiting to donate offered to get it for me. ANOTHER PATIENT TENDED TO ME, NOT THE NURSES. When a nurse walked by I asked how long I was out, and she very rudely told me my eyes were open the whole time. It was like she mistook my eyes being open as being fully conscious and aware, so I'm wondering if she thought that I was being dramatic. I blacked out. I have no memory of anything that happened until I woke up to 2 nurses being frustrated that they had to deal with me. I was there an hour, waiting for someone to come check me. No one ever did. So when I felt well enough I left. I called for a friend to come to get me. None of the nurses came to help me out of the bed. No one stopped me from leaving without evaluating me. I was very disappointed in the staff. Again, I should have known better than to donate that day, and I should have trusted all my red flags and instincts. But the staff should have known even better than that. The way I was treated when I was in distress made me feel like such an inconvenience. My dignity as a patient was completely disregarded. I was an unconscious annoyance. I felt humiliated and completely disregarded as a human being. This was not ok. read more

I had blood drawen on 3/31/2018 and had a big bruse the next day, I stopped a another bus and filled a complaint and was told I would be called Tuesday, never happened. Was called Friday after calling Corp. It is now the 13th of April, still a bruise, sore and I called again and they told me to go to uracare and have it looked at, my dime. Conveniently located next to my car dealership it gave me an easy opportunity to go donate. They pace is nice and clean and the staff was excellent. I've donated on many a bus but this was the first time visiting a center. It's just not as convenient for me to get there. Go if you can. Help save a life. read more
