    Bruise

Oh lord I have a lot of concerns for a few nurses. Some nurses are SUPER nice but there's a few that make me question their eligibility to work. One male nurse kept making constant jokes and goofing around towards the other female nurses WHILE THEY WERE WORKING ON PATIENTS. I get people need to have fun and enjoy their work, but there's a time and place for all that. Lastly there was a nurse who was taking care of me that kept pushing buttons and was looking visibly frustrated with the machine that takes your blood. This same nurse was the one that left me with a pretty bruise because she injected too far or not far enough in my vein.

I've donated here multiple times and the usual business is in, everyone talks like you're not there…read more( for better or worse), then you leave. Usually it's very casual so I liked it since I have severe anxiety. Then I came in and they did EVERYTHING to avoid resticking me with the needle. The employee had trouble finding my vein so she kept jiggling the needle in my arm. I said ow and she asked me if it hurt I said yes but its okay and if she would want to try my other arm. She said no because she didn't want to restock me and it took five minutes for her to stop jiggling the needle inside of my arm. The last time I came in after the needle was inserted and I couldn't get up and leave management came also and asked me about a conflict. I had no idea there was a conflict. Genuinely besides that I couldn't imagine what they meant. I spoke calmly, so did the employee, everything was calm and easy other than the pain. The management said they took note of what I said ( saying ow and politely asking if the other arm might be a better choice) and informed me I had two strikes against me now and if it happened again I'd be deferred or kicked out. This left me ashamed because I'm the type of person to cry if I accidentally hit a nat. Then it was pointed out to me that they accused me of starting conflict after the employee hurt me and I am now admittedly upset. I will not be coming back.

This blood center was busy on a Saturday but very well organized. My donation specialist, Oluremi was efficient, friendly and skilled. She had no trouble accessing my vein and honestly the experience was about as painless as can be! I was done in record time and on my way. I'll be back again in 56-ish days!

It feels SO good to do something so helpful and life changing -- and it requires minimal effort. I am typically in and out within 60-70 mins. I can go in the middle of a workday without skipping a beat. This is because it only takes about five minutes to complete the initial check-in/med check...and then while you're donating you are free to use your phone, read a book, etc. After you donate, you receive an email when your blood has been shipped to a medical center for use. It is so heartwarming to know that your donation was used for the benefit of someone else. This gives me pause...in a good way...every time. There is free parking on site. They will offer to schedule your next blood donation at the earliest point that you're eligible to donate again, making it so easy for you to return. And, have I even mentioned that there's a free snack at the end? The Nutter Butters are my go to. ;)

A young short blonde haired lady attempted to put the needle in my arm, but missed and proceeded to try and poke around with the needle inside me to hit the vein. Doing so, she left scarring, bruising and swelling and walked off with an attitude asking someone for assistance to apply a separate needle inside my other arm. The Second young Lady was great. Nice, quick & professional. Be careful on who you allow to put a needle inside your arm. I'm glad my situation didn't turn out worse than it is.

But, I recently had to have some additional paperwork submitted. The nurse who was working with me was great and gave me a coupon for additional compensation on my next two visits. I thought this was very kind. He actually wrote the date wrong, so I had another nurse update and approve it. I gave plasma today and submitted the coupon. The manager who processed it was tentative. She got another employee and they went in the back. When they came out I was told, rather tersely, that they changed their policy and would not honor the coupon for the two donations promised. I was paid for today only. I said the coupon was issued by them, just last week, and should be honored as is. They refused. I am extremely disappointed at the lack of integrity of the person who refused to honor a coupon that they issued, and was approved by two ppl. Whether or not their policy changed, the coupon should have been honored.

When you enter, you'll be greeted by a large desk and a gaggle of people. I was helped right away by several smiling faces. My wait time was somewhat longer but they have cable tv in the lounge. I was a little put off by a phlebotomist using expletives but it didn't really bother me per se. It wasn't used in an aggressive way. I ended up not being able to donate after completing nearly all of the process but they cashed me out anyway for my efforts. They're nice folks and if you need a few extra bucks this is probably the place to do it!

I will never in my entire life go back to this place or donate through this company ever again. The…read morecompany is now Grifols which I have never had a problem with until arriving at this location. There's a gentleman who is a very tall, heavyset, bald man with a large framed pair of glasses, that is the single handedly most offensive and ignorant person I have ever met. When I arrived, everything was fine until they did a check of my arms and everything else. I had recently had blood work done at my primary care's office the Jane Polly Center on North Arlington and so there were some slight bruising and marks on my arms. When I pulled my sleeves up, I did state and identify this immediately, and even though I was able to provide all of the blood testing, I had done with dates and test names via MyChart to prove that my blood work was a valid reasoning for the marks of my arms and bruising. I was told that that was not a sufficient and reasonable explanation. That I had to somehow provide a statement on my chart that I had been stuck in both arms with syringes to draw blood. I have very constricted veins that roll almost every time. So it took a little while and trying both arms in order to get one to draw blood from. I did everything I could within my power to provide him with the information to show that I was in fact someone who had blood work done. But instead, I was dismissed and disregarded as nothing more than an " lying junkie, who had blast marks upon his arms" there was a lot more insensitive and rude as could be things said. But to spare you all the details of that part, you can just assume where that had gone given the statement he made that I did include. Even though it had been long enough since the blood work and I had sufficient hydration and nutrition in my body, I was treated as nothing but subhuman trash, who was not seen as equal and worthwhile. So I was dismissed on every claim I made to try and show that I wasn't what he was claiming me to be. I will never go back to this place and I hope that gentleman is fired because I heard him say these things to more than just me but in different situations
